| | | Emma Watson and Jason Isaacs talk Potter 4 & 5 Film Focus recently spoke to Emma Watson (Hermione) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) at The Empire Awards about the fourth film ' Goblet of Fire' which has nearly finished shooting and the possibility of their return for the fifth movie ' Order of the Phoenix' which is due to start filming in January 2006. Emma Watson:
About working on Harry Potter:- Quote:
"I am so lucky," she told us, "I've worked with the crème-de-la-crème of British actors and actresses, all in one film; I've worked with some fantastic directors. I'm very lucky."
On Mike Newell:- Quote:
"He's a fantastic director," she told us, "and he's just a really, really lovely man. He's taught me a lot, he really has. What's lovely is that he's a real actor's director. He really cares about the acting which, from my point of view, is fantastic."
Whether she'll return for film 5:- Quote:
"People have been talking about outgrowing the character, but that's not really possible. "To be honest," she told us, "One film at a time! Goblet of Fire has taken eleven months to shoot and I think everyone's just focussing on getting this one to the end and then we'll start thinking about the future."
Jason Isaacs:
On ' Goblet of Fire':- Quote:
"It was lovely to do scenes with Robert Hardy [Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge] again, but mostly all of my stuff is with Ralph Fiennes who plays Lord Voldemort. It's a tour de force; a real performance and joy to sit back and watch."
On the growing, younger cast members:- Quote:
"They're almost unrecognisable. Rupert is this great big hulking man and Tom [Felton], who plays my son, is now driving! They've both left school. Apart for the fact that they're lovely actors, they're all so incredibly technically proficient. They know how to negotiate the diplomacy of the set so well. They've gone from being children to being seasoned old pros. It's rather scary for someone like me to see them catch up and zoom ahead."
On the rumours that he'd already signed up for OotP:- Quote:
"It's utter ******** unfortunately. No-one's confirmed, they haven't even got a script yet. I said I hoped I was going to be in it and I had to go to the producers and say, 'look I'm sorry you've seen it in the press everywhere, when you haven't even decided what the script is,' but, yeah, I hope they ask me. It's a riot."

Yeah, I agree that we're tired of hearing them say "one film at a time." bla bla.
But it was a cool article none the less. I love the comments by Jason Isaacs and Ralph Fiennes.

There is quite alot that's new in there, actually. They may have repeated that OotP is still unconfirmed but they did divulge a bit about GoF! Quote:

Don't worry. Ralph Fiennes is AMAZING. Quote:

I love that phrase too -- typically British. I'm surprised our censors didn't delete it LOL

Yea, not much on OotP but Emma did say that she didn't think they would out grow their characters. Quote:

Well, it's slang for rubbish/codswallop but it also means a part of the male anatomy. Some people think of it as a common phrase but personally, I think it's funny.

She's still younger than Hermione who turns 15 at the beginning of GoF and is 16 at the beginning of OotP (as she's born 1979 and has her birthday early in the academic year). The age issue is only relevant to the boys.

SO that means that he hasn't sign yet for OotP, I don't know where I read that he was going to be in it. Jezz all were just freaking rumors.
Even tho Emma wants to continue she still doesn't openly say that she's comming back.
I don't know what the WB is waiting for, Rupert wants to continue, Emma is not that open about it but it seems to me that she wants to keep working in HP, Dan so far hasn't said anything about it, but I believe he wants to be back because of the interviews he did for PoA.

Great news, but a bit disappointing.
I hope they all return for the 5th, 6th and 7th movie, it would seem really weird watching a different Harry, Hermione and Ron.
It's kinda boring hearing one film at a time all the time!!!

Kaz -- LOL How can you think that?! Lucius is imperative to the QWC. Okay, well maybe not but they want him to be there at the end for dramatic effect. Quote:

Probably IMDB. They've claimed for months that he's signed on and I've always stated they were wrong -- thanks Jason Isaacs for proving me right. They based their 'facts' on an interview Jason gave where he said he couldn't wait to come back for OotP and was really looking forward to chasing people around and generally having fun filming the DoM scenes. IMDB took that one step further and assumed he'd signed up.
I've got my doubts about Emma - it worried me when I read in an article that a WB exec had to visit her at home and convince her.
For now, they can't sign Emma or Dan as it's too early as they're still minors. They could sign Rupert and Tom but since the script isn't finished, no casting director has been chosen and casting doesn't start until Autumn, they probably just want to wait.
This'll achieve two things;
1) Hopefully stopping rumours about foreign actors being in the films -- if they stick to not casting anyone until Autumn any rumours that do start up won't have any chance of credibility
2) It will also keep the hype going of who might stay and who might go etc... which can only be good for WB - it keeps fans talking about and it keeps Potter in the press. If they signed Tom & Rupert, then there'd only be 2 people for the press to speculate over which would create less publicity.
When we all know really that there's a very good chance everyone will be back.

It's kinda boring hearing one film at a time all the time!!! I don't think they'd ever re-cast. It's the current trio or nothing.
It may be boring but it's the most considerate response. They don't want to lead anyone on and then disappoint them if they don't sign on. She's just being honest.
It may not seem like much to us, but it's roughly a year of their lives so it is a big decision which they do need to think about.
Besides, if they said a definute yes or no, that'd stop people asking the question which would result in less publicity and less hype and less exposure for the Harry Potter films.
