| | | ELLEgirl declares Potter the 'coolest book'
A Veritaserum reader, Amanda, has reported the following: Quote:
1. The Harry Potter Series
2. The Bible
3. The Catcher in the Rye
"Religious groups often chide the Harry Potter series for its supernatural themes, but ELLEgirls are into both Harry and the Bible. And Holden Caulfield shouldn't feel bad about taking 3rd place after God and a wizard- he's only human."

| What a retard. Who ranks the Bible in comparison to Harry Potter? I'm not religous, so maybe it's not right for me to speak for those who are, but I am offended and I'm sure they're even more so. The Bible is something very old and sacred, and Harry Potter should never be ranked above or held in higher regard.

wow. you know it is ranked by a tween magasine when. i mean, a bible should not be concidered a book. it is holy writings for crying out loud! it is physically a book, but it is more of a spiritual thing if you know what i mean.

| In Love with Touz | | Lil Mikky-Mu I agree with my fellow Canadian. But if people read it a lot and it's a big part of their lives... why not? I think they were just asking for trouble by publishing that!

i agree they shouldnt be comparing it to the bible (hence AndiC's comments, well said =P) but hp is a cool book. i've never read the catcher in the rye, but i think we have to read it for school so its prolly gonna be boring lol. why cant we have assigned harry potter i would so get an easy A lol

haha. i have read catcher in the rye, and i am surprised that it is on this list. i mean- ellegirls liking catcher in the rye? *snorts* i highly doubt it. I mean, the majority of the people in my grade hated it when we had to read it. personally, i thought it was kind of cool...

I agree with those comments. I mean, who would be stupid enough to rate Harry Potter and the Bible together? I mean who would?!? It just doesn't make sense. The only thing is, AndiC, I'm a Christian and I didn't really appreciate that comment you made.... Not all of us are like that.

Come on people, don't stress out, I'm almost sure that the magazine said that under some kind of twisted context in which they refer to hp like the most popular series of books right now, I don't thingk they mean to say that Harry Potter is better than the bible, so chill out a bit

I don't think it really matters which way it was meant. Everyone has a right to voice their own opinion on anything and if whoever feels that way it is their right. We, however, have the right to disagree all day long so really all it does is cause discussion. *hopefully civilized*

I certainly enjoy reading HP more than I enjoy reading the bible, but it's funny to see them in comparison to one another. All the same, congratulations HP!

Wow, ELLEgirl obviously doesn't know ANYTHING about anything. They are attempting to say that about 5-6,000 years of Jewish history is "cooler" than a 7-book fictional series? First of all, how do they define "cool?" Secondly, the Bible is a living history of some of the biggest historical events; it's in a much higher "league" of literature than Harry Potter . And third, the Bible is the most influencial and most published book in the history of this world, and nothing will change that. It makes me sick to think that anyone could think that. Anyone who believes that claim honesty has some serious issues that they need to deal with (or grow up a few years). That claim is unbelievably appauling.

This is really dum,who would compare the Bible with Harry Potter. Im not saying Harry Potter is bad but there is no way a stupid magizine could compare a litreture novel with a holy book cuz the Bible should'nt be compared with other books.Seriously there should be an explanation for this.
