| | |  Electronic Arts to continue Harry Potter beyond Deathly Hallows?
MTV has a new interview with Jonathan Bunney, the Harry Potter video games executive producer, who talks about extending the wizarding world gaming universe beyond the seven books. Quote:
"I think that's a great opportunity," Wiimote-clutching "Harry Potter" executive producer Jonathan Bunney told MTV News last week at an EA summer press event. "Certainly, we've done it with 'Lord of the Rings.' We've extended beyond the movies there. We did it with James Bond for a while. I don't know what we'll do with 'Harry Potter.' It'd be fun to, I think. There's more stories that we can tell."
He also talked about the possibility of re-visiting old stories in order to improve graphics and gameplay. Quote:
"There's an opportunity to go back to the original movie," he said. "The technology has moved on so much. When we were first making those games, we were making it for PlayStation 1, and now we've got, you know, the Wii. I think there's opportunities to [revisit stories].
"We have to figure out whether anyone wants to buy those or not!" he added with a laugh.
He also referenced the recent statement that EA are interested in the possiblity of a Harry Potter multi-player RPG. Quote:
"We've talked about it a lot," Bunney said. "The reality is that we're focused on the movie games. I think there could be a fun MMO for 'Harry Potter.' "
Finally he spoke about the opportunity to make 2 games for the last film, Deathly Hallows. Quote:
"We haven't really thought about what we're going to do yet, but it's going to be really exciting," Bunney said. "Obviously, it's a great opportunity to make two games, but I want to make sure we make two great games. We don't know how close those movies are going to be, how far apart they're going to be and where they're going to cut them in half."

I am really hoping for the MMORPG when the film series of games has finally ended. It will be very interesting to see how they break up the DH games, especially when WB give them the details that they need.

um..i dont know if i would want them to continue the games past the books, unless JKR wrote the storys of the games! explaining what happens in thouse 19 years!! maybe, the game with be called "harry potter: the 19 years" or somthing like that!!! and we'll have funerals, weddings, births, auror training!!!! hermione treying to get house elf rights, and becoming a lawyor!! should be AWSOME!! Likes a sims/action game type! ok..gone to far..

I wouldn't mind different stories for HP games, i think it would be fun! maybe even an RPG type game where you make your own person would be pretty cool... i don't know about the rest of the world but that would be soo awesome. Hmmm... I don't know about splitting the deathly hallows though, i think they should just make that one, because it's kind of pointless you play half a game then you have to go and buy the other half. I don't know that's just my opinion. really amazing though! I so need to buy a wii!!

Ok. For the longest time I've thought: "How cool would it be if they made something like Harry Potter Live and have actual wizarding school with people across the world?"
I'm not so sure about revisiting the old games unless it's a UNIQUE improvement. Two games for DH is what I'm hoping for...two excellent games!
