Eddie Redmayne teases 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel scene audition with Zoe Kravitz, more

During the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them London roundtables, Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston teased a bit about a new character - with a familiar name - that will be featured more heavily in the sequel, as well as one particular shot at the end of the first installment that felt like a true, real-life moment for the Newt Scamander actor.

Please note that this does contain spoilers for the first and second Fantastic Beasts movies.

SnitchSeeker reporter Milo was on hand during the roundtable with the two actors, and asked about Zoe Kravitz's character, Leta Lestrange (yes, Bellatrix's in-laws). Redmayne revealed that when he auditioned with Kravitz for the role of Leta, they used a small scene from the second movie's script, written by J.K. Rowling, for it. The actor commented that he, like so many fans out there, tried to decipher more details out of those probably two pages of script to get clues about the second movie, out November 2018.

SnitchSeeker: In that [final] scenes it forms the relationship between your characters... you have Leta Lestrange coming into it. Is that something we may see featured in the next film?
Katherine Waterston:
I mean, why wouldn't you put Zoe Kravitz in your movie? Also, what fresh hell is that to have her be any kind of competition for me? If I was dating someone, and she was interested in them, I'd probably be like 'just go do it! Live your life!'

Eddie Redmayne: What was interesting, when we were auditioning with Zoe for that part - because she's just a photograph in this film - there was a scene from the next film, and we kind of saw a little about the next film. I was trying to pick apart this one scene to try to find different clues about where we could be going. You'll see her.
The second interesting and new bit from the roundtable - for the chat was around 17 minutes long but included previously-asked questions about their work with magical creatures, being cast as Tom Riddle, and their interaction with the fandom so far - was Redmayne discussing what one scene in the first Fantastic Beasts movie actually gave him goosebumps whilst filming.

Eddie Redmayne: What do I enjoy most about the work?
It's the tiny moments when things feel real. They happen very, very rarely. You're very lucky if it you have it once in an entire job. It happened to me on this job when, in the last scene between Tina and Newt when they're leaving to go away.

She wishes him good luck on the book, and then she says the title of the book, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' Newt can't believe that someone's seen him, and in that moment, when Katherine said that, I got goosebumps. I was like, 'Wow!', he's being seen [for who he is].

It's a weird moment - you can't really quite describe it - you never talk about it in acting. It suddenly feels true for a minute. You don't feel like you're putting it on, it feels like a natural reaction.
By the way, expect to get more details from J.K. Rowling's screenplay for Fantastic Beasts, available right here for purchase!
