The film of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire looks like it will be a Dursley-free zone, with none of Harry's family featuring in the fourth movie.
Actor Richard Griffiths' agent told Newsround Online that Richard was "very disappointed" not to be appearing as Uncle Vernon in the film. Article:

Actor Richard Griffiths' agent told Newsround Online that Richard was "very disappointed" not to be appearing as Uncle Vernon in the film.
Griffiths also told a newspaper that he was hoping for a fans' revolt.
He said he'd even asked JK Rowling to try and get his character re-instated, but the fourth book is very long.
Griffiths is reported as saying "I said to JK Rowling: "Couldn't the Dursleys turn up to an open day at Harry's school or something,' but she said, 'I don't think so'."
The book of The Goblet of Fire is so long that there as no way that the filmmakers could fit everything into the movie.
It now looks as if the action will start at The Burrow or the Quidditch World Cup.
Although he says he won't be in this film, Richard Griffith says he's hoping to be back for Order of the Phoenix.

Wow! That's sad... but what can we do...
If they REALLY have to cut them off, so be it...
I think it'll be a complete nonsense if they opened it with the Riddle House, and then Harry would wake up with a tingling scar in the Burrow... O_o

I actually had to think if the dursley's were even in book four. Now that i was reminded of the tounge taffy, maybe they might keep that scene but play it on someone else like malfoy. I am not going to cry over the dursley's being out, it is better than cutting out something like neville's boggart. If JKR is ok with it, so am I. | |

SO how are they going to start? OMG they have to have the frank scene...and the Dursley's have to be in the movie! Harry HAS to go to privet drive every year...it's an important part of the story! OMG! |

Muggle Humor has also posted a petition. Being that it is Muggle Humor, they support muggles, and the scene of the Weasleys blowing up their living room is humorous. I'm sorry, but the scene adds light to the dark events that take place in the book. This scene must be included. | |

The Dursley are really wretched, but they still deserve their part in the movie. What the movie studio should do is make the movie into two films. They would make more money and it would give us all something to look forward to until the next two books come onto shelves. I'll sign the petition too. Maybe it'll help! | |

I want the Dursley's in it too how else will the non- readers know the joy Harry feels when he gets to leave their house every year. Though JK had to of given the go on this it is her book and wouldn't she know what would work best though not sure what she is thinking especially cutting them out maybe all the $$ going to her head. oh my gosh. Not trying to be rude or anything but you people are being very dramatic about them cutting a scene. I am not going to sign the petition because do you really think that this petition is going to make a difference. As for how they are going to start the movie I have faith in them thats why they are the movie watchers and we are the fans. I just think that you need to get over it and move on because when they make there mind up they are not changing it. | |

i think that them cutting the dursleys is really not a big deal because at the beginning of the goblet of fire, its not very important to the story for them to be in it because it was such a tiny scene. But I do think that they will be back for the order of the phoenix b/c the dementors at the dursley's is an important chunk of the story and no way jk can cut that out. I mean, there is no point in signing a petition when jk said herself that that scene is not realavent, and why would someone override her? she WROTE the books. :sorcerer: | |

don't anybody go and see the 4th movie it is as simple as that. they will lose tons of money from their idiotic decision!
