| | | Dress-up day inspires Harry's and Hermione's - Kids at Napier School in New Zealand Summary:
Harry Potter mania is still alive and well, if yesterday's dress-up day at Napier Central School in New Zealand was anything to go by, which was attended by eight young Harrys, and Hermione was a popular choice for the girls. Article: Quote: Harry Potter mania is still alive and well, if yesterday's dress-up day at Napier Central School was anything to go by.*
Principal Ian Hall said the day was held as part of the school's book week and pupils dressed up as literary characters.*
He estimated there were about eight young Harrys, and Hermione was a popular choice for the girls.*
Nine-year-old Madeline Tait-Jones said she wanted to do something a little different, so chose Roald Dahl's classic BFG (Big Friendly Giant) to stand out from the crowd.*
"I wanted to be Hermione, but most of my friends wanted to be her," she said.*
Complete with dream-catcher, dream-blower and dream jar, she said she didn't mind that her character wasn't a girl.*
And apparently dressing up isn't something people grow out of - Mr Hall masqueraded as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings for the day, and said several parents were keen to be part of the fun.*
He said the children were excited by the prospect of ditching their boring school clothes for the day.*
"One parent said her daughter woke at six o'clock asking to put her costume on."* Source: Wizard News. |

Hell no, I love fancy dress parties, The funniest one I ever went to was my friend's wedding, she got married in fancy dress - granted it was her 2nd wedding, so she didn't want the whole church thing again, she wanted to do something completely obscure, so she got married as a cat! It was different....

That is so good to hear that they can let the kids dress like Harry Potter. I know that at an elementary school where I am from... Harry Potter books are not even allowed in the library because to many parents complained about them. On Halloween, Kids were not allowed to dress like any Harry Potter characters because the school was afraid that parents would complain.
I guess the parents said that Harry Potter is too violent for their children and that if other students were promoting the books then their children would want to read them as well...

Stacy Oh that's really to bad... Not allowing HP books???? Or not even letting them getting dressed up as HP caracters????
That's just... unfair ... For all HP fans like me.... Imagine that!
But anyway, a lot of people already have all five books at home... but it's still... |

At the 1st day of spring, in Poland (where I live) You may find many people walking on the streets, dressed up in many various ways. But I was really surprised when I saw some people dressed in robes, similart to Hogwart's robes walking on the streets in a normal day :sorcerer: They looked really cool, but they had a different simbols on chests |
