Mischief Squared is a fantastic site dedicated to Oliver and James Phelps (Fred and George Weasley. So no wonder Missie wanted her site to be
affiliated with us!
As alot of you will know, the twin actors site went down last year, to the disappointment of many fans, but we think you'll find this website to be an excellent replacement!
So, in order to get to know our new friend, I conducted a short interview with Missie, the 21-year-old webmistress from Phoenix Arizona; USA.
*
Emma: When did you get into Harry Potter and how?
Missie: Well, I didn't get into them until late. I heard about the 5th book and had to find out who died. I had seen both movies by that time, but never read the books, so I picked up all 5 books the day the 5th book came out and read straight through them all. Got through the first 4 books in 2 days. I was hooked immediately! Ever since then, I've been a fan...and growing more and more so each day
Emma: So which is your favourite book & film?
Missie: Favorite book is Goblet of Fire as you can really start to see the Twins' mischief (my favorite characters) and my favorite movie so far is Prisoner of Azkaban. I think Alfonso did an incredible job with the movie!
Emma: So I guess this question is pointless - Who are you favourite characters and why?
Missie: The twins are my favorite and I didn't start really enjoying their potential until I started role playing online. I played one of the twins on an online game and the character grew on me. I love the ideas that come from their heads and besides, 2 is always better than 1!
Emma: What is your favourite Weasley (twin) line?
Missie: Wow! I've never actually thought about it. I, of course, love the section in PoA when they're trading lines back and forth. In a theater filled with people, everyone knew it was me squeeling in my seat. hehe. But in the books, I'd definitely have to say "-- but they make sitting on a broom a right pain in the --"
Emma: What makes sitting on a broom, a right pain?
I love the one where they say they did try to lock Percy in a pyramid but mum saw them. And the one about the dung which Percy calls a manure sample.
Missie: hahaha, that was the part where they were testing items and they had boils on their bums.
They're the best comic relief in the books
Emma: I have to agree - well apart from Luna.
Missie: Yeah, she's good as well, she's a little more subtle about it. The twins tend to be very loud and in your face.
Emma: Who's your favourite out of the two (the actors and characters) and why?
Missie: George Weasley and Oliver Phelps. Not a dreaded question for me at all. I have always liked George more (as that's who I played in the online game) and as hard as it is for some people to believe, Oliver is the cuter twin in my opinion. They have such different personalities and Oliver seems much more open and social than James. It's even better that Oliver plays George too! LOL
Emma: So who are your favourite characters other than them? Do you have a favourite book or a scene from one of the films?
Missie: My favorite character besides them would definitely be Harry, although I absolutely adore McGonagall.
My favorite scene...hasn't happened yet. I can't wait to see in GoF if they keep in the twins' age line section. But non twin related, I love PoA and all the H/Hr moments...I'm a huge H/Hr shipper.
Emma: Oooo that's not a good thing lol!
Missie: hahaha!
Emma: Do you fancy either of them (Oliver & James) and what attracted you to them? What makes them your favourite cast members?
Missie: I do fancy Oliver. The day I found out he was 18, I was hooked! Which is funny because I found out a week after he turned 18. He's my favorite because...well, I dunno. Maybe because I won't be thrown in jail for hanging posters on my wall! LOL
Emma: How do you prefer their hair, short or longer?
Missie: oh gosh. Ummmm, I'm not sure yet! I love it long. I really do as I've always preferred guys with long hair. My fiance has grown his hair long and it's cut very similar to the twins' hair. With their hair short...they look really young. So I'd have to say I like it long more.
Emma: Do you have any theories on what will happen in the future to the twins in the books?
Missie: Not on the twins, no....I suspect they'll have their shop and kind of just disappear moreso in the books. I do have predictions on what happens at the end of the book, however. Want to hear?
Emma: Shoot!
Missie: Well, I will probably get lots of hate mail for this as everyone I tell my theory to says they'd end up hunting down JKR if she did it. But my theory is that at the end of book 7, Harry wakes up from a dream. See, I'm going off of what JKR said about the PoA movie and how Alfonso added in things which coincidentally related to the future books. That's one that stands out in my mind is when he's (Dumbledore) talking about dreams...Of course there are other things in the movie which weren't in the books, but that one was so...out there. So random. I think I'd cry if the books ended that way, though!
Emma: You mean when dumbledore talks about dreams in the film?
Missie: Exactly. He said something about when dreaming, you enter a world all of your own.
Emma: Who do you think the Half-Blood Prince is?
Missie: ...I have no idea! I have tried guessing, but everything I come up with contradicts with with JKR has said or written in the past books. So I'm at a complete loss. My only guess would be Hagrid...but I think she ruled that one out.
Emma: I believe she hasn't. It was rumoured she had but as nothing appeared on her site to confirm that, then we can't take it as official.
I think it's Snape, personally.
Missie: Really? I could see Snape being it as well.
Emma: So when did you decide to make a twins site and why?
Missie: I decided when their official site went down last summer. It was hard for me to find content and since August, I've been running this new site,
www.phelpstwins.com, so people can find out about them. I secretly hope the twins will come across the site and ask to help with it!
I really want them to put up the video diary again...so if they see this...I'm willing to host it on my site!
Emma: So, what features does your site have, as I'm sure our twin fans will want to know!
Missie: hehe, my site has everything! We've got fanfiction, galleries, icons, desktops, layouts, sound files, video files...right now we've got the birthday project, but I plan on doing more things for the twins as the year goes on. I'm thinking of putting up a message board, but haven't yet. Basically, it's all of the content you could ever want on the twins! Plus info about them and ways to contact them.
Emma: Can you give us any sneak peeks of any additions you'll be making, any staff positions open?
Missie: I'm putting footage on the site coming soon from the interviews of them on PoA. The biggest addition I'm going to start, however, is a contest. It will involve prizes and fanfiction writing...I'll say that. That should be started within the next 2 weeks. I'm always looking for people to help with content! Every little bit helps make the site better. There's a section on the site called the Phelpsies. Those are the people who've helped tremendously on the site. They fill out a bio and suddenly people praise you for helping make the site wonderful.
Emma: Where did you get the inspiration for the design?
Missie: The latest design is basically just showing the twins at what they do best. Goofing off and being actors. They're both amazing, aren't they? I'll probably be making a more simple layout soon. This one is temporary.
Emma: So how would you round up yourself and your site in just a few words?
Missie: LOL---let me make this good....
Well, my typical description of my site is a fan site dedicated to Oliver and James Phelps, best known as George and Fred Weasley from Harry Potter.
I would say my site is much more than that. It's a collection of what makes the twins so great, off and on screen.
As for me, I just enjoy helping people and why not do something that helps them while helping me with my twin fixation?! LOL
