It seems that when Harry gave Dobby the sock in Chamber of Secrets, he helped Dobby out of the series altogether! MTV.com reports that Dobby the House Elf will not be seen in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Toby Jones, the actor who voiced Dobby in CoS gives his opinion on why the part of Dobby was cut :

"I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them,"
The article also says that Kreacher will be in the film, and notes the possible role of the house elf in the mysterious dissapearance of the locket at Number 12, Grimmauld Place.

we need dobby! i can't believe he is being cut yet agin for HP. i missed him in GOF but was sure he would be back. oh well, i'm really disappointed. i wonder how WB are going to explain how the room of requirement came to be the headquarters for the da as it was dobby who told harry. dobby also warned the DA that umbridge was on her way. i wonder how these things are going to be explained as i can hardly see kreacher coming to warm them. | |
