| | |  Director Guillermo Del Toro interested in Deathly Hallows
Guillermo Del Toro, director of movies such as Pan’s Labyrinth, has mentioned in an interview with MTV that he would be interested in working on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, were he given the chance. Warner Brothers have previously approached him to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, however Del Toro refused, saying the previous two movies seemed to be too “bright”: Quote:
“They came to me once, for the third one,” he remembered of “The Prisoner of Azkaban”. “I’ve read them all, and when I read the books before the movies were done, I always pictured Charles Dickens – they were very Dickens-ian. The situation of Harry Potter reminded me a lot of Pip from ‘Great Expectations’. I saw them as deeper, more creaky, more corroded; then [the stories] were textured very differently when the first two movies came out. They were so bright and happy and full of light, that I wasn’t interested.”
Deathly Hallows is intended to be released in 2010.

Every director in the known universe should be interested in DH. Del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron are buddies; Cuaron did PoA, which is probably the best one (in my opinion anyway). They have similar styles (although admittedly, I haven't seen Pan yet, I'm just guessing  ), either would be great.
I would simply die if Tim Burton got to do it. I would absolutely roll over and die.

Ok. Good points, he likes films to be dark, and he's read the books. Bad points, I don't know what his directing style is like and he's not British. Therefore I have no opinion really. I wouldn't mind him doing it.
Actually, having just read the post above which says he's friends with Cuaron, I'm not so keen. Cuaron makes his films far too artistic, and doesn't understand the importance of good story.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth, and it was very interesting...Of course, it was in Spanish with English subtitles. I think that he would be a good director for the 7th movie. I'd really like to see him try though. Either him or M. Night (whose last name I'm not even going to attempt to spell  ).  | |
