| | |  Director Guillermo del Toro discusses Deathly Hallows
In an interview with MTV, director Guillermo del Toro gives his impression of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and reiterates his desire to direct the seventh and final film of the series. (Del Toro was initially approached to direct Prisoner of Azkaban, which he turned down.)
On the book: Quote:
I was very moved by the ending. And it ends very much like a Dickens novel. You know, the way it ends. Which is, if I remember correctly, is like "And everything was all right." It’s such a Dickensian phrase. It’s such a beautiful, subdued way to end it, and very moving.
On directing the final film: Quote:
Now that the movies have grown darker, I’m definitely interested... After Alfonso (Cuaron) filmed the third film, they have evolved really into a very nice universe to play at.

I really hope they pick someone really good to do DH. Guys like Mike Newell and Chris Columbus are great, but they just kind of slap it together and go, "New Potter movie! Next." Cuaron really added something new to POA; they need to go all out with DH and pick someone who will really challenge the material. | |

They should just let me direct. I'm a hardcore Harry Potter fan, I've read the books thousands of times and besides the last time a true geek directed we got Lord of the rings and those things got Oscars ... Hollywood should really give up on the 'geek phobia' they have and allow someone who's in love with the work actually work on the film.
The first thing I'd do is fire the screenwriter ...  director slash screenwriter it's not like it would be a first.
Then I'd go all Orson Welles on this movie with the visuals like in The Third Man ... I'd set this whole movie in Europe ...  ... start with a b&w intro to showcase my artsiness ... and cast some unknowns so that I could say it's an independent film.
I'd get Jo to lend me her copy of Tales of Beedle the bard, cuz we'd need one for the film you know ... (then I'd make a beeline for Kinko's hehehe, I want a copy). *SS probably doesn't condone Copyright infringement, and neither does Otty but only when it infringes on his works*
Next I'd change the title to Ron Weasley and the Deadly Artifacts of DOooooom ... because it sounds so much cooler than Deathly Hallows. I'd make Dumbledore gay ... *Teddy hands Otty the movie notes* Oh cool he's already gay ...
And Christina and Meredith and McDreamy and George would get cameos ... (What? I love Grey's Anatomy too ... )
I could totally see a scene with Christina telling Bellatrix off ... cuz you know she's a surgeon ... 
And I'd totally redo Hermione's character like in the book and not Emma's playing herself ... I'd ban pink on the set ... OMG! And there'd be dragons and Voldemort wouldn't look ugly ... seriously dum mistake ... I mean have you seen Ralph Finnes ... seriously ... the man is handsome ... *rawr*
