| | |  Deathly Hallows extra receives gift from Potter producers
The Bristol Evening Post reports that Ben Taverner, a 14 year old with long hair who was due to appear as an extra in Deathly Hallows, received a surprise gift from the Potter producers after he had to pull out of filming due to his mother becoming ill.
Warner Brothers sent the actor a letter wishing him luck with his future career, with a signed photo of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in Order of the Phoenix, as a present. Ben was originally spotted by casting agents while on a trip in London. Quote:
Ben said: "It would have been great if I had the experience and had the chance to meet the actors, but mum was first above it.
"I would rather she was fine than I be in a movie.
"I was very shocked to receive the letter. I didn't expect anything. It was amazing to receive the autographs."

Mrs Taverner, 57, a secretary at Frenchay Hospital, wrote to the producers explaining the circumstances that had caused her son not to attend the filming and they responded by sending the photograph.
She said: "We were all set to go but then I had to go into hospital. I felt really terrible, but Ben did not complain at all.
"We were really shocked to get this photograph and the letter from Warner Brothers wishing Ben luck for his acting career.
"They also said they would keep him on their books.
" I just can't believe that they took the time to write.

Wow, that's amazing! Both the fact that the boy would pull out of one of the largest franchises in the world, and the fact that WB wrote back and sent a photo. I'm ashamed to admit I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. I'd be so torn.

That's very nice of them. I do commend his selflessness for putting his mother ahead of himself. A picture instead of being able to meet the actors was a nice gesture but at least he has his priorities straight.

What a sweet gesture from WB.
On another note, if the WB casting people were looking for teenagers with long hair, they should have come to Finland. Here, in the promised land of heavy metal, long-haired teenage boys are practically the norm.
