[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/moony_80.jpg' align='middle'> David Thewlis: "Rupert is a natural actor" - Lupin actor compliments Ron actor Summary:
In the Sunday Morning Herald there is a very short piece on David Thewlis who was recently in Australia. Article: David Thewlis: "Rupert is a natural actor"
David Thewlis aka Professor Remus John Lupin has complimented Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley in a recent interview with the Sunday Morning Herald. Quote: If any three people are likely to turn into precocious child stars, they are the young actors at the centre of the Harry Potter movies. Quote: But one of their co-stars, David Thewlis, insists they have not become movie brats just yet.
"That's your first thought when you meet them - that they must be precocious and it's all gone to their head," he said in Sydney yesterday. "But they're really not. They're actually very, very nice and funny and good company." Quote: But Thewlis, who joined the cast as Professor Lupin for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, thinks it will be difficult for them to have acting careers outside the series.
"The most likely is Rupert," he said. "I think he's the most natural actor. He's the oldest of the three. I can imagine him moving on." When speaking of Radcliffe aka Potter, he says, Quote: "Someone is going to have to make a brave casting choice to give him something that takes him away from Harry Potter," Thewlis said. "Or he's going to have to shave his head and grow a beard ... to get away from it." On Alfonso Cuaron, Quote: "It had not been very well publicised in the British press that the man who did Y Tu Mama Tambien, which was about teenage sex and drugs, was going to do Harry Potter. I thought that was a very strange idea. Now I think it's a genius idea because he's made it so much more interesting." There is also a video of the interview which can be found here in the related box titled "Playing Professor Lupin".

Rupert is not doing Charlie and the Chocolate factory, he's said nothing of the sort. That was on his website as a spoof article.

He may be the comic relief, but if anyone has ever done a comic role they know sometimes it's harder than dramatic roles. To do comedy you have to have a perfect sense of timing, and that's often not something that can be taught. 100% agreement. It's really, really hard. I found it the hardest thing when it comes to acting I've ever done, when I played a comic relief role.

Hehe, I like what David said ( if u watch the vid version) about being recognized. hehe, good thing his character is not a scary character unless..or mabye if he has got some kid that wont leave him alone on the street he can act as if he is turning in the warewolf, that would show 'em. Well Ron mabye the most natural actor, but I loved David's Performance As Lupin anyone say anything about that?
Hey can anyone tell me how you say David's last name 'Pho-ne-tically' please it's bugging me..
like "Her-My-knee" -(hermoine) Spelled In GOF(Page.182 prg.4)

But well, poor guy, he's been kind of left aside, what with everyone talking about Dan and Emma's progres, and not a single word about him, at least someone noticed him lol. yeah hes not mentioned in that because he was boss from the beginning! :sorcerer:
i love Rupert hes proper BOSS!!!
I think Emma is a good actor, so is Tom :wub:  and the rest! but i dont think that Dan is the best actor in the world. sorry   :whisle:
but Rupert has been consistant(sp) througout the series.
Emma has definetly got better with each.
then theres Dan........improved in POA :whisle:

I love Rupert he is fantastic at playing Ron. So Rupert will become a famous comedy actor, Dan will become a rock star and Emma will become a model? or a actress, or a singer? :sorcerer:

Actually, I agree with Thewlis that Rubert is seems quite talented. He is hilarious when he makes all these faces. .
But in Daniel' s case it is not good to be connected with a particular role, even for an adult actor. And if he really wants to be an actor, that might ruin the rest of his life.

You can't even tell he's acting! It's only obvious when he overacts because it's funny I agree about the attention thing, though! Dan and Emma always get more attention than he does! Even Tom does! And his part is much smaller than Rupert's! We notice him plenty! GO RUPERT! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!! i always thought that he was the best of them.
right from the first movie. i was like boy that radcliffe is cute and all and he's stiff as a wooden leg! sorry if this ofends anyone but its just my opinion. and watson had that grating 'know-it-all' accent down pat. i mean they way she spoke, u could close your eyes and go well she's bossy!
but rupert looked the most how to say.....'free'? he looked like he was the least conscious of the cameras in front of him. and he's adorable as ron.
i havent seen poa yet to comment on their acting in it but i will say that radcliffe's gotten better.
and while i like the girl power element as much as the next person, im against hermoine becoming groovy. simply cuz she's not groovy and where's her bushy hair gone? looks like they allowed her to slap on the sleakezy potion much earlier than gof!

I agree! Rupert is a wonderful actor. And it's gonna be tough to get the image of Harry Potter outta Dan's head lol.

In the first movie when the trio were inexperienced (except Dan, I guess, since he had already starred in two other movies), it was pretty noticable that Rupert was the best actor among the trio.
I think David Thewlis is right. I can just see Rupert and Emma moving on to act in other movies.

Yeah, Rupert is sooo much better than the other 2 at acting although I prefer Dan and Tom in looks. Rupert's facial expressions come natural and his moments on camera are highlights of the film. Everybody remembers his performance rather than Dan's. But sometimes Rupert's acting is overshadowed by the publicity for Dan, Emma and Tom who steel the lime light. I loved in CoS when Hermione started clapping at Gilderoy Lockhart in the bookshop and Rupert pulled the best face. Dan cannot made his lines seem so comedic, and makes Harry so much more serious- although its crucial at some times, he needs to portray Harry in a more relaxed mood when the scenes arn't to serious.

| Tennis Pirate Rupert's acting looks extremely natural, even in the first 2 films as well as the third. He has a talent. I think that the other two are great as well but I do not see them going as far as Rupert does. Maybe Emma but sadly Dan will always be looked at as Harry Potter.

rupert is my fave actor. dan kinda annoys me, although he is definatley getting better. i dont mean to sound to critical, but emma/hermione is changing shes meant to be the sensable one who suggests whether they should do this or that, but in the film it doesnt happen. does that make sense?
