| | |  David Thewlis gives up smoking for his baby
3am Journalists from The Daily Mirror recently caught up with pregnant actress Anna Friel and her boyfriend David Thewlis (Professor Lupin) at the premiere of the Cirque Du Soleil's new show, Dralion. David mentions that he and others are giving smoking to support Anna through her pregnancy. Quote:
Anna has defied doctors who said she wouldn't be able to have children.
She revealed: "It was a big shock as I'd been told I couldn't get pregnant and then the first time we tried - boom!"

"David and I couldn't believe it. We had our first scan last Wednesday and it was the most incredible thing - hearing the baby's heartbeat. David's eyes were welling up, it was just the most amazing thing ever.

The 28-year-old former Brookie beauty continued: "I gave up smoking and drinking as soon as I found out I was expecting. And the weird thing is, I don't even miss it.
"David and one of my best friends have given up smoking to support me, which really helped."

He then opened his jacket to reveal a slight pot belly which we're sure has more to with over-indulgence at Christmas than a phantom pregnancy.
The couple are keeping the baby's sex a surprise.
She said: "We've chosen names but we're going to wait until he or she is born to see what name they suit."

Omg, no, really? David Thewlis smoked? However, I am glad he's giving it up. That sorta stuff is bad for everyone, especially for infants, who could end up having asthma or following their parent(s)...you know, bad footsteps. Congrats on them couple! He must have been really, really happy about the joyous occasion. Cheers!

Congratulations David and Anna!!
The pot belly probably has more to do with the food cravings that come when you give up smoking more than anything else. Although I prefer the phantom pregnancy idea more. LOL.

Ooooo... Cirque Du Soleil... i love that... I've been to 2 shows and seen Dralion on TV... it's good isn't it lol

I come from an "unmarried" source myself and I must say it hasn't affected me at all. There's much more acceptance about it, and there are lots of Hollywood couples now (like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Rusell and Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon) who have been together forever and even had children and still aren't married.
I do like how in the other article - the one about David and Anna's new baby that they're posing with for some charity - they say her "partner" David Thewlis. I always find it interesting how journalists will skirt around an issue like that.
Either way, it doesn't seem to me like David "got her in trouble" because had he, I think they would be engaged. Perhaps it's simply their choice not to get married. And also Anna said she didn't think she could get pregnant.
