| | | David Heyman talks scripts
Potter producer, David Heyman was briefly interviewed for an article for Variety Magazine in which he discussed adapting books to film.
He explains, once again, how important it is to stay truthful to the spirit of the novels and how important it is to keep a good relationship going between the author and screenwriter. Quote: |
"The challenge is maintaining fidelity to the source material, being faithful to the spirit of those books," says David HeymanDavid Heyman.

"The last thing we want to do is adversely affect the relationship," says Heyman. "We show her the drafts, and if we make any substantial departures from the books, we consult her first."
| Quote: |
"Jo's knowledge of this world is so much deeper than the books themselves," he says. "She has countless notebooks about this world. And we may need names or characters who might not be in the books, so she can guide us in terms of not adversely affecting her world."

| I`m pleased that producer of HP consults J.K.Rowling before doing any changes or something like that. I`m completely agree with him in every word he said here. |

The very begining of PoA felt all....home video-ish. Can't wait to see GoF directed by an actual British person...not the Chris C. was bad or anything... |

| yes, they have to be careful what they put into the movies as it can ruin it for the books or not remain consistant for that matter. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Third | Wishes someone would look up the meaning of adaptation and not rethinking What a load of malarkey? Did I spell that right? Anyways...substantial? Define substantial departure? *speaker voice says* Flight for Steve Kloves land Now leaving complete departure from JKR land... But anyways...Hermione stealing Ron's lines in the movie...its what purpose does it serve? Anyone, anyone? I'm not even one of those nitpickers but when you just try to make Ron look like a total clown...sorry no, who's spirit is that JKR's or Kloves ego? Then giving Hermione his lines... *sticks pins in Steve Kloves doll* I'll believe it when I see it Mr. Heyman. |
