Default David Heyman "Cautiously Optimistic" about Dan, Rupert & Emma returning for OotP film

David Heyman, producer of the Potter films told reporters at the PoA DVD Launch that he is optimistic about Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson returning in their roles for the film version of 'Order of the Phoenix' which will be written by Michael Goldenberg and directed by David Yates.

Quote:
Are you going to replace the three leads [for HP5]?

Heyman: I hope not. The kids are on for the fourth. We now will start discussing the fifth, it's the same on each film. You're in the middle of the third you discuss the fourth, you're in the middle of the second, you discuss the third. I hope they stay with us and they'll stay with us as long as they want to. There may come a point some day where they decide not to and if they do, they'll go with all of our blessings. But I hope they stay and they're wonderful, and I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll have them again for five.
In English this means he's not telling us anything we haven't heard before. He's not giving a 'yes' and he's not giving a 'no' - he's giving a 'maybe - it depends on the situation' which we've heard plenty of times before from him - at least, that's this fan's view.

yeah its not really anything new, but its still reassuring all the same...i believe they'll be back for the 5th...definitely Rupert..he loves it sooo much! Dan and Emma will probably follow suit too, once they realize they're having soo much fun doing GOF they wont want to quit. i believe they'll be back!

That would be much better if the gang stayed for all 7. They would look really old, but it would be better than having to change actors.

I think Emma is the least likely to stay - she's so cautious about it and the WB president Alan Horn needed to convince her to stay for GoF, he made a personal appeal to her.

Most likely to stay is Rupert, ironically. He's the oldest but the most keen - same for Tom, he's the eldest and most keen to stay after Rupert.

Responses to 'will you stay':

Rupert: "Yeah, I'd love to do all the films!!!"
Dan: "We'll see, one film at a time..."
Emma: "I really don't know ummm I guess I'll wait and see..."

That's sort of their typical responses to these sorts of questions.

Tom Felton has even said he'll delay going to fhising college to finish the films!! How committed is that!!! (that was in the same K-Zone article where the WB appeal to Emma was mentioned.)

I bet they all stay. They won't want to stop.Daniel loves the movies, and Emma is just hesitant. She has with all of them. She just wants to make sure she can do it.They will all do it...there was another one and they said that the actors all are welcome to stay..which means they had their contracts renewed....so..thus..they have the chance to all stay....but..don't necsesarilly have to(Spelling on nescesarilly???)

they had to convince Emma to stay?! Why, that makes no sense. She's always saying how much she loves doing the movies and everything. Where's she gunna go? But yeah, what Heyman said is nothing new.

I'd really love the entire cast to stay... but, if someone does drop, I'd be least upset if it were Emma.

I'm glad to see Rupert and Tom are that dedicated. I think they're the two best kid actors, so their dedication shows.

I hope everyone remains.

It wouldn't be the same if any of the actors were replaced. Michael Gambon did a great job, but Richard Harris will always be Dumbledore in my eyes.

Yeah i agree with that. With the trio and everyone else i don't think the fans will really care how old they look because we've all come to recognise the actors as the characters. I mean when i read the books now i imagine the actors doing those things.

You cant really replace the actors for Harry, Ron, Hermoine, Draco, Ginny, and a few others.. i tink if they did they would lose a tremendous amount of Fans and lose ticket sales. It would b tragic too!. And they are only about a year older then the charactors they play. If you notice in most prime time TV(Such as The OC, One Tree Hill and other shows) a lot of charactors that play like highschoolers(like 11th and 12th years) are about 24 or 25 years old! that meanes that they are anywhere from 5 to 7 years older than their charactor. I could understand if they are getting over worked but still... its like having another author write the rest of the Harry Potter books... but not that drastic lol

I know, exactly! It wouldn't be right :-/
I hope OotP wont be heaps different to the others having a different director and writer as well.

I dont know how they'd be able to replace them.. I dont think they'll do any more movies after the 5th.

emma and/or dan aren't probably going to do it. even if dan doens't, he's always going to be known as the kid who played Harry Potter.

It would be nice if the same people could play the parts consistently for all the films. But that may not be too realistic. Especially if JK doesn't finish the books soon.!!!!

I completely agree! I understand if they want to move on and all, but I would not be able to watch the films if they were gone. I had a hard time with Micheal Gambon too, but there was NO getting around that re-casting. He did well, but he wasn't fully Dumbledore to me. It would be the same for any other character.

hahaha Rupert's awesome! He really seems to enjoy doing the HP movies the most out of all the cast memebers!

...and doesn't he hate school? He'd probably do anything to get out of having to go back!

I'd like to see Rupert stay, because I think that with a decent script (and perhaps this will come when Kloves goes) he could be the Ron from the books. Daniel did a fantastic job on the first film, but he's just not Harry for me... and as for Emma, I'd really like her to be replaced.

I think Rupert is staying for the fans-- I wrote to him and said he's so talented and he's my favorite actor and I wish he can stay on and do all the 7 HP films. And in his reply he said thank you and that its hard to say if he can stay for all 7 but he will try to as much as he can.

And I was just "awww, he's so sweet" -- and I was wondering how many fan letters he gets that say the same thing.

So I'm really thinking that part of the reason he does want to stay is bcoz he knows that's what his fans want him to do. maybe not entirely, but I'm sure it does have some bearing on his decision.

Cool

I so hope they all stay on. Especially Dan, Tom, and Rupert. They would be so hard to replace and I don't think I would like the movies as much if they happen to be rplaced. *crosses fingers*
