Daniel Radcliffe on ET Canada, new Chris Young photo shoot, talks work on SNL
Daniel Radcliffe sat down with ET Canada last week to promote The Woman in Black, and spoke about his upcoming plans, including international promotions (like Paris, Madrid, and Moscow), his three-week holiday throughout the U.K., and beginning rehearsals for Kill Your Darlings in early March. That, as well as a new 2012 photo shoot with Chris Young to promote supernatural thriller, and few comments via TwitchFilm on how much he loved working on Saturday Night Live - so much so that he would want to return again - are below.
How did you find the SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE experience?
Daniel Radcliffe: FANTASTIC! I just had the best time. I'm somebody who just thrives on fear and panic and chaos, so for me that's just the perfect environment. I liked the fact that somebody said, "OK, there's been a slight change, just look at the cards." LOVE that. Those are situations I kind of live for.
It was interesting, in the reactions to it people didn't think it was the strongest episode, but I had a blast. It's interesting, the people who can be scathing about SNL, for me it's very lazy, because they have no concept of what is actually going on. They're putting on an hour-and-a-half music and comedy show, from scratch, in a week. Actually, it's two-and-a-half hours if you include what you do at the dress rehearsal! I just loved it.
You'll do a sketch, and someone will grab you and run you to another quick change, it was great. I said at the end, ask me back, any time, I'll run across oceans.
The Casey Anthony dog is one of the favourite things I have ever done. I read it, and I had no idea how I was going to play it, should he just be terrified, or panicking or what? And then they put the wig on and I went, "Oh! Easy! I just have to play it REALLY angry!" [laughs]
I was very grateful to Seth Myers as all through the episode he was really kind to me. What's impressive about that show, there's people that have been working their 21 years who say there's nowhere else they'd rather be. That speaks highly of the cast and the crew, it's a really good atmosphere.
I agree with Dan, the quality of the interviews have been superb. I disagree with Dan, in as much as i think there is a section of the media in the uk that would love to see him fail = step forward the Daily Mail! I also think in the UK he, Rupert and Emma are perceived to have got lucky in a sure fire hit and therefore their careers don't really count. In America and in Canada, they see the whole of Dan's career to date and see the work he's put in and respect where he's trying to go with his career choices. In this interview, rhere is a nod to Harry, but it's talking about WiB and 'Kill...' So, again thank you Canada! Perhaps we in the UK no longer have the quality of interviewers.
