But before HP, Dan already appeared in "Tailor of Panama" (I saw him there, he was sooo young) and I heard he played the young David Copperfield before that!
Rupert did Thunderpants before or after CoS, and counting that gives him only a total of 4 films, while Dan a total of 5 films. and Tom must have done more.

You can't say they're the best at acting after one role. Acting and the ability to do it well is about being able to be diverse, take on many different forms and characters convincingly, but we've yet to see them do that. For all we know, these characters might be the only ones they're able to pull off. We don't know the voting criteria. For all we know, those who voted are only familiar with the HP stars than anybody else and have shown their bias. I have my own criteria as to who is the best/greatest/etc etc in acting, but I think I can suspend my critical assessment for this bit of FUN. And who's to say these fans didn't either. Obviously, it's a popularity contest--not much soul-searching needed. Dan Radcliffe (and Emma Watson, and to some extent, Rupert Grint too) won some kind of recognition from fans and that's it. No need to lose sleep over it. Don't worry, the sacred "Best Actor" category has not been tarnished by these "amateur" HP stars. LOL.
Go Dan! Congrats again | |

ok, we've established that all the major young actors (excluding emma) had roles beofre this but it would very difficult to be best at their age. I wouldn't even call them the best of the HP actors..all we're saying is they aren't the best...you know.
but everyone here is right, esp in agreeing this was a popularity contest so don't take it too seriously.

p.s. anyone see that show Tom was on when he was like 8 or 10? it had a puppet or sumthin..saw it once he was so cute.

Rupert and Tom have done proper roles in other films.
Yeah it is a popularity contest which quite shamefully shows how unpopular Rupert is, which is a great shame.

I also thought his acting got better as the film went along.....
It's great they won it, but I do think it's fair to say it is more of a popularity decision, but even so, its good news for them and I bet they are really pleased about it.

Well in that scene i cried. I was bawling my eyes out. Dans acting is so professional and i think that he is increasing in his talents as the films progress. I also cried in the scene when buckbeak was executed. I also cried in the chamber of secrets, at the end how hagrid came back. And i will probably cry in the goblet of fire when harry is in the hospital after the tournament. Rupert was a great actor, however his acting was limited to the script. They really did not give many lines to ron. I felt that harry and hermoine had larger roles in the film.
I am glad that both dan and emma won, although i am abit disappointed in the amount of votes for rupert. is he any less of an actor than the rest? I think that all of the harry potter actors and actresses should win an oscar. It is very unfair that they are not nominated for the chamber of secrets or the sorcerors stone. Hopefully they will be nominated this year.

Rupert is currently number 2 at mugglenet's "cutest HP boy" poll right now, and number 1 at Nickelodeon's "coolest" poll.
It only means Rupert is unpopular in this particular group of readers of this certain Japanese magazine. No sweeping statements please.
And BTW, for all the Tom Felton fans-- I saw him in "The Borrowers" and also in the "King & I" remake with Jodie Foster and Chow Yung Fat.
Tom & Dan & Emma are all "cool" -- but Rupert is the best! |

An official acting award -- in recognition of, and based on, talent and performance -- is given out by professional motion picture organizations/award-giving bodies, and decided upon by a board of judges composed of well-respected members of the film industry. Rupert Grint is still the "best actor" among the trio.
No offense meant to Dan & Emma tho, I like them too but you just cant deny who shines thru performance-wise. Others say Ron is an easy role to play but that is so not true -- the movie Ron was expected to be funny and any professional actor will tell you that it is easier to do drama/make an audience cry, than to do comedy/make them laugh, coz you need excellent comedic timing to do that -- and Rupert was able to pull it off with flying colors -- drama will be a "piece of cake" for him. I truly agree with you. Dan is good but not as good as Rupert. I guess since he plays the main character he is automatically evryones favorite in these things but Rupert, in my opinion is both better than him in acting and he is better looking than Dan.

I think Rupert should have gotten #2 at the least. I mean, I feel really bad for him because Dan and Emma are getting first place in all these awards and he's getting 2nd. It's like Dan is Rupert's older brother and Rupert has to stand 'in the shadow'.
I still think that Dan and Emma won those awards because of their acting abilities. It might have been a popularity contest at some point, but I voted for them because of their acting abilities. Also because I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but I still think they deserved the awards.

Personally, I don't think any of them could get Best Actor if they were in the top 1000000 list. They're just not the trio.

Congrats to Dan and Emma! They did a great job! But personaly I dont think it was fair for Rupert,In the movie he's left in the shadows of his brothers and in real life he's left in the shadows of Harry and Emma. But Emma and Dan deserve it they worked hard,I think it was based on acting abilities, and Harry and Emma did more acting than Rupert in this film. I still think Rupert should get Second best or third best actor. :sorcerer:

Congratulations Dan and Emma! Keep up the great work you two. You too Rupert. Even if he wasn't on the top, he still needs to know he doing a great job. I like him as Ron. I couldn't imagaine anyone better to play Ron. He is and always will be the best Ron. No one could replace him, same goes with Dan and Emma. No One!! Could make a better Harry or Hermione. They were born to play their parts. Keep it up! Your the best! :sorcerer: :sorcerer: :sorcerer:
