It is being reported that Daniel Radcliffe's first project after the completion of the Harry Potter series may be a film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Lucky One, to be directed by Doug McGrath. This information is coming from a couple of tweet posts by the film's producer Christine Vachon, who said the following earlier today:

McGrath has stated in the past that he plans to shoot the film in May 2010.

For those interested in who Dan might play, here is a short summary of the film:

The Lucky One tells of US Marine Logan Thibault who finds a snapshot of a young woman when on duty in Iraq and feels that it brings him a tidal wave of good luck. After his tour is done and he returns to America, he sets off on a journey to track down the woman in his photograph. She’s Elizabeth, a young mother who is now divorced, and I suppose it’s inevitable she’ll begin an affair with Thibault at some point, seeing as who wrote the story and all.

We are currently seeking word with Dan's reps about this, and will update as soon as we hear more on the project.

Also, it is said that Dan will be participating in an interview tomorrow with AP Live. The stream featuring the interview will go live at 3:30pm EST at the following link. We will have much more from Dan's segment then.

UDPATE: Okay, here's the real story. Dan is NOT doing The Lucky One. According to MTV, the film he read for is Nothing Else Like it on Earth, a story about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. There are currently no actors signed on to the project, but those interested include Dan, Sigourney Weaver and Nathan Lane.

Nicholas Sparks?!! Oh Dan, there are so many other films with essence out there. If you want to do a romance, pick one that actually has story and meaning behind it. All of this author's film adaptations of his novels were God awful. They ALL fell short and I'm more than sure this one is going to be the same. You can do so much better than that Dan.

If he does, should be interesting. Not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks, but I did enjoy the Notebook. We'll see.

lol. Yeah... I feel like I would probably give this movie a chance if it weren't for the fact that it's Nicholas Sparks. There's got to be better projects out there for Dan.

It doesn't seem like a film Dan would do....Not a fan of Nicholas Sparks, though I'll admit I enjoyed The Notebook.

If he does end up doing this project, I hope it works out. A lot of you guys are saying it probably won't, so I wish him all the best. It's great that HP stars are finding these new projects, but it's so sad too.

Hmm... I really like Dan but this is going to be a real stretch... or they are going to have to modify the story quite a bit. The main character is a US Marine who has served three tours in Iraq. As someone who was married to a Marine for many years, I can honestly say Dan has his work cut out for him.
