Further to the
My Boy Jack press round-up
yesterday, more interviews with Dan Radcliffe about the drama have appeared online at
The Times and the
BBC, in which he also talks about taking
Equus to Broadway next September.
Quote:
Radcliffe, 18, whose first television role this is, said that he wanted young Potter fans to watch the two-hour film. “I hope people are moved,” he said. “The thought of forgetting all those people who fought is terrible. We are lucky not to have to endure those conditions now.”
Radcliffe, who said that a great-uncle of his had been sent to the Great War, added: “It is hard not to feel the parallels with what is happening now in Iraq and Afghanistan. Parents outliving their children is the greatest tragedy imaginable.”
David Haig, the writer of the piece who also stars as Jack's dad, Rudyard Kipling, said;
Quote:
"It’s taken 22 years to realise this dream. Daniel Radcliffe was only 7 when I began writing the screenplay.”
In regards to performing in
Equus next autumn in New York, Dan said;
Quote:
Radcliffe told BBC News he was "incredibly excited" about the opportunity to appear in New York.
"Of course there's nerves. If I wasn't nervous then I would be dead," he said.
"It's a good thing, it's healthy. I'm obviously nervous but I'm very very excited," he added.

"If we can get a straight play to really succeed in a world of theatre that is so besieged by musicals, that would be a real achievement and I think the time is absolutely right to do it there," he said.
"For a kid who grew up listening to showbiz tunes in the car, Broadway is a big, big thing.
"All the people I know in New York say New York is ready for this kind of play," he added.
My Boy Jack will air on ITV1 on Nov. 11th at 9pm, and is released on DVD on the 19th.
