| | | Dan Radcliffe talks Deathly Hallows & My Boy Jack
In another new interview, this time with Newsday, Dan Radcliffe talks about the Deathly Hallows films and his experience shooting his World War I drama My Boy Jack (which has its U.S. premiere tonight on PBS). Quote:
"I had had an inkling that was going to be the case, and I am thrilled that that has come to fruition," he says. "You would have lost a lot of stuff that you couldn't really afford to lose if you had had to do it as one movie. In the fourth and fifth films, there was quite a bit of stuff you could get rid of without actually changing the story. In the seventh film, there is no really obvious subplot that you can do away with and keep the story going along the route it has to. I was struggling to see how they could do it as one film.
"Of course, the challenge now - and this is up to people who are much cleverer than me - is to find the breaking point, because there isn't an obvious breaking point halfway through the story where you go, 'Ah, here is where we can start the second film.' There is a gradual and relentless building up of momentum in the story and not really a place where you can leave the audience, but I am sure they will find one."
Quote:
"Jack does believe in the king and country thing," Radcliffe says during a break in filming "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," "but I think he also wants very much to prove himself to be a man, both in the eyes of his father and to himself, and also to escape from a situation that makes him feel horribly trapped."
Quote:
"...It stopped mattering very quickly that I had played Harry Potter. After a while no one cared because we were all soaked through and freezing, and we were just trying to make each other laugh. It was totally life-affirming and great fun."

I agree with Ron's return, but I think for theatrical effect, they should have "Ron" pull Harry out of the frozen lake, but cut out before they show you it is Ron!!! I mean, it would be intense, but I think it will make it that much better. I also think the Lovegood's wouldn't be a bad place, after they blow out of there, but then again... We will SEE!!! Can't wait!

Ohmigod! My Boy Jack is on tonight!!! i disargee. I think the best place to break the two flims would be at the end of the silver doe. you have a nice resolution with ron coming back and destorying the locket. Although i wish they would do it after they get off the dragon after the break out in the bank. That way there is more time for the battle.

I just saw Masterpiece - My Boy Jack on PBS. It was a good movie. I could hardly watch and kept jumping when the soldier went to talk to Jack's parents. I hope I get to sleep tonight. I know it's only a movie, but still.............

That was really interesting. It's a really good thing that they'r ecutting DH into two films so that it wouldn't get rushed and all the important scenes will not be cut out, at least, I hope so.

Peter Plumb Snr Department of Mysteries | I've been thinking about it for a while and i think that they should cut the first film just after Harry and Hermione escape from Bathilda's house.
It would leave great suspence in the fact that Harry has broken his wand. The flashback that Voldemort has, (Back to the night he killed James and Lily), will give the ending of the film loads of emotion!
