Post Dan Radcliffe on Jonathon Ross

Last night Dan Radcliffe was interviewed on the Jonathon Ross show. Video clips, a transcript and screen captures are now all available for vieweing. All three things can be found here thanks to DanRadcliffe.com.

Quote:
Jon: So what did they ask you to do at the audition? Did they ask how you would use a wand or what you would do, presumably, I imagine some sort of wand-based technique! Wingardium Leviosa!

Dan: Yeah, I actually remember Chris Columbus, who directed the first film, cracking an egg onto the script… looking back I have no idea what relevance that had!

Jon: Was he hungry? Do you think he brought it in on purpose?

Dan: Yeah, maybe he brought it in to sort of throw me and see how I reacted

Jon: So he got an egg out…?

Dan: Yeah and he cracked it… I’m sure it was for a good reason, it might have been something to do with the scene where we’re in Hagrid’s hut and there’s a dragon egg. It’s something to do with that, I don’t know what. But then in the end, I think it was partly out of desperation and partly of being – being – being… not an attention seeker but something along those lines, and I played the Match of the Day theme tune on my cheeks, slapping my hands. A bit like a primitive version of playing the spoons!

Jon: (blank look) I’m finding this quite hard to follow. First there was an egg, then you played match of the day on your cheeks?

Dan: Yes, it was in that order!

Jon: Have you been doing art recently? Sniffing some fumes…

Dan: But Chris Columbus… (starts to laugh) sorry I was just thinking about the egg thing! Chris Columbus then said to me “If that doesn’t get you the part, nothing will!”, and it did!

Jon: So you think that’s what swung it for you?

Dan: JK Rowling saw that and thought “That’s my Harry”.

Quote:
Jon: I thought Hermione got married to Harry in the end, isn’t that what they told you?

Dan: No! Have you not been watching the films?! It’s like… her and… Ron!

Jon: Listen up son, listen, that’s just, the ladies play hard-to-get for a while, but then they come round!

Dan: What about Ron then?

Jon: Who cares? The film isn’t called “Ron and the Goblet of Fire”, is it? He’s a lovely bloke, but we’re not as interested as you in the old zip-zip, leviosa… wingardium… zap Voldemort… ooh Voldemort. (Dan is giggling) What are you laughing at?!

Dan: I’m sorry… but you’re funny! You’re funny! In a good way!

Jon: I wasn’t trying to be funny; I was trying to be serious!

Dan: (still giggling) That’s what’s funny! No it’s great, it’s fun!

Jon: You know I could send you to bed. You know your dad said I could do that if you got out of line.

Well Jonathon Ross isn't meant to be a serious interviewer .. he's not Michael Parkinson. I really like his humour and he has such a way with his guests. It was a really good interview to watch even though I felt for Dan at some points. But he obviously knew what he was getting himself into a and gave as good as he got. Seriously, the transcript doesn't do it justice, you should watch the clips. It was terribly funny.

Has anyone got the clip shown towards the end of the interview? I really want to see it again! But what's up with ron already seeing the dragons?

That's probably to add to the H/R argument tension thingy-ma-jiggy. I can't remember whether that happened in the books.

I watched this it was so incredibly funny,I was laughing my pants off.

Dan did the match of the day theme tune on his checks,

Quote:
Jon: You can’t drink alcohol yet?

Dan: No

Jon: So you’ve never tried alcohol?

Dan: No

Jon: No (gives the audience a disbelieving look)

Dan: It’s not actually a moral thing, I just tried a sip of wine and didn’t like the taste very much. I think it's something you get at 18... and suddenly you start to like it. I’ll probably try it, cause you know, a lot of people like it... so there must be something in it.
bet he does drink it abit,we all do.no hes a good boy.

Quote:
Jon: Your eyes are quite large. You’ve got quite large eyes. You look like you could be in Lord of the Rings with that other fella!

Dan: Thank you, you’ve got lovely eyes as well, Jonathan

Jon: Youngest guest, most polite guest!

Dan: I’ve sort of grown up with them so I don’t really notice. (audience laugh and cheer loudly). This is fantastic! Brilliant! Thank you!

Jon: (to audience) Hold on, don’t get him too excited, alright?

Random in audience: Go Harry!

Jon: Nevermind Harry! He’s not actually Harry Potter! He’s an actor! (audience coo as a picture of Dan in HPPS appears on screen) Oh, hold on, they’ve all gone, oh my goodness.
lol

Interesting interview. I'd like to see what Jonathon Ross would have said if Rupert was there with Dan. It was cute though.

Parky is legend! He's a great interviewer. Ross is alright, but he is a bit annoying, personally. I don't think he makes the best of the time he has interviewing people. But him interviewing Dan was hilarious.

I watched the interview last night and I thought it was hilarous! One of the best I've ever seen. Did anyone else see Nick from the Kaiser Chiefs preforming afterwards, he was wearing glasses and had a scar drawn on forehead! I love t'Chiefs!

They're both legends; I like them both in different ways. Sometimes yeah I think Ross can ask better questions and just misses the opportunity but he's more a friend to the stars than an interrogator.

The Hagrid/Dragons clip was one of the ones at IESB.net.

Lol, he's always like that, he gets excited and energetic and stuff. I remember in the GoF Press conference a girl from danradcliffe.co.uk was trying to ask him a serious question and he had already met her a few times and was interupting her. I'd rather him to be energetic and nice, then rude and arrogant.
