| | | Dan Radcliffe joins £16,000 a year school
Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe has started as a pupil at a boarding school which is the spitting image of Hogwarts.
The 15-year-old now attends the exclusive £16,000-a-year Shiplake College, set in Oxfordshire woodland.
Shiplake is known as a school for the rich and the famous - George Harrison's son, Dhani, was a pupil.
A close friend of Daniel said: "Shiplake is certainly big on drama and theatre lessons. It is well-known for its excellence in the arts and Daniel is fitting in very well."

Around or just under £32,000 (US).
I guess those exams he was on about before must've been entry ones for this school. I hope he gets good GCSE results, after all the money they pay for his education! I'm actually surprised he's not been hauled off to Eton.

*dreams of having rugrats and someday sending them off to a rich and fancy school*
Uh, that's great for Dan, I'm sure he'll get a good education there. i don't think that £16,000 is bad considering it's a boarding school. Can you imagine if it was £16,000 and he still had to live at home/somewhere else and buy food and all that stuff? or is that stuff not included in the £16,000? How do these things work?

I don't think he will be away from his parents. While filming he's away but boarding schools do have day students who don't stay overnight, although I'd imagine in the times when he's not filming, he may board full time. It'd be tough for him doing that seeing as he works so much away from his family and then to go to school away from them too. Quote:
How do these things work?
I have no idea lol Boarding usually includes room, food etc the essentials but it wouldn't pay for uniform or equipment or transport.

Wow! That certainly is a bloody large amount of money. That school must be really excellent in drama education if all the rich and famous attends. Not only that, students probably are required to take some sort of test before being accepted to that school since its so great. More harder than SSAT, I imagine.
Now that just proves Dan's incredible talent and intelligence.
Bestest luck to you Dan and hope you have absolutely exciting term!
Now that the high school part is covered for Dan...next question is...where would he go for university? lol

Well he finishes school this year so he'd have to either go to sixth form or a college to do A Levels before Uni, but not many of the young actors have chosen to do that - Tom & Rupert didn't when they left school.
I've heard about him switching schools a few times now, but then again, highschool is a pretty long time (11-16 or 18 if you stay on for higher education).
Thanks for the pictures! It is gorgeous!

Wow! look at that place! lol!
Good on Dan! It's pretty tough to get into those places, and hey if you can afford it, then defo go to a good school, i would have!
Boarding schools include all your tuition, food and board and then your on your own for the rest of it, though some of them include materials if your doing a practical subject.
Good luck to him.

Love the pics the place is beautiful. Less than that even. Study leave starts around beg-mid May and GCSE exams start mid-May and end toward the end of June. After the GCSE exams, there's no more school for Year 11's.
But still, he gets to go to a beautiful school which will probably be able to provide him with a good education which should equal to good GCSE's - not that he needs them mind, I doubt anyone will ever ask him to produce a CV. Quote:

Yeah, like wood or metal work.

But it might be different because it's a boarding school, he might just stay there the whole time. That would make sense otherwise he's paying a load of money to go to the school for...about four months!!

I'm surprised he would spend that much money when he's just going to be there for less than a year. I suppose with all the money he has anyway though, lol, it doesnt really matter

But when he's that rich, I don't really think they'd mind paying that amount of money for just a few months if it means he gets better exam results at the end of it.

But won't he be filming most of the time? Unless the school is a 6th form/college aswell. But it is the Mirror, not a 100% reliable paper in my view!
