| | | Dan Radcliffe joins £16,000 a year school
Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe has started as a pupil at a boarding school which is the spitting image of Hogwarts.
The 15-year-old now attends the exclusive £16,000-a-year Shiplake College, set in Oxfordshire woodland.
Shiplake is known as a school for the rich and the famous - George Harrison's son, Dhani, was a pupil.
A close friend of Daniel said: "Shiplake is certainly big on drama and theatre lessons. It is well-known for its excellence in the arts and Daniel is fitting in very well."

The campus is absolutely beautiful, and I'm happy for him... I'm just suprised that he has time to attend a school like that. I thought all the young HP stars used tutors.

The campus is beautiful, I wish I went to a school that was that nice. And had great landscape surrounding it, I go to a school that backs up to a highway- nice, huh?
I thought they were still filming, so wouldnt Dan not be going to a real school. I know they have tutors on set but why would he go to a "real" school when they're still shootint.

They are on the first page. Or do you mean you can't actually see them?

Lucky guy! It must be a really good school if they're charging that much.

I'd be very surprised if he's not contributing to the Tsunami fund like everyone else who's able to on the planet. I ask you what would be better: Spending that much money on education or on a jet plane or a car or something? You can take your classes over the internet if you like, but there are still a lot of things to be said for good old fashioned "Show up and participate in class" schools. I imagine you'd also say that it's a waste to spend money on libraries and museums and stuff. After all, why do we need knowledge from dusty old books? Why do we need to learn about the past? There are people starving! Let’s abandon education and feed the needy. Let's all be illiterate fools. If you had as much money as Dan does, I imagine you'd get off your moral high horse right quick and buy whatever you wanted with the "poor" people of the world only being an afterthought. Who are you to criticize him?

Boarding school? Shiplake? Daniel?
Poor thing... he'd be away from all his family and friends even more now that he's going to boarding school AND doing Harry potter
BUT... they're big on drama and theatre did you say? sounds fun...

How come hes going to a freakin college? hes only 15!
It's just the name of the school. ids from 16-18 generally go to Sixth Form Colleges here. Quote:

That sounds about right, Sterling is doubled when converted to US Dollars, or very much almost. I think the exchange rate is something like 1.98.

That's great! And he'll be able to improve as an actor as well. Theatre and drama lessons are always useful. Especially if you're an actor. I hope you'll be able to tell the difference. I like Daniel. And I don't like it that so many out there say he's a horrible actor. He doesn't deserve that.

What does going to a nice school have to with with someone in famine? I don't get it.

It's not on that website. I've looked on that site and the Daily Mirror and neither site has the article. Anyways, I thought Daniel was going to an all boys school in London. I don't think he'd leave for Shiplake.

It's not on the website anymore but I can assure you, it was in the paper. I just used the website so as to be able to link to a source. If it wasn't true, we would've heard something by now.

Im not starting to stir up trouble but i thought of something.
People say that 'dont the harry potter actors get tutored?'. Well they get tutored because it is too hard to go to school then to the film set and back and it is easier to keep up with work (excuse this if it is wrong). You know how emma watson and daniel radcliffe are uncertain about returning to the films for OOTP? Well could this be saying that he is going to a boarding school because he wont need to travel alot, as in he wont be in a movie, as in he has decided not to continue with the series?
I wish my school was as nice as that was described.

^ Seeing as this is his last year, that's not pheasable. He'd finish in June, unless he chooses to stay on, anyways and besides, the kids spend at least a term a year in normal schools.

What do you mean by 'his last year'? by last year of school or HP?

Of school. Year 11 is the last year of cumpolsory education in the UK. Once he's done his GCSE's in May/June he can decide to either stay on and do A Levels or whatever, or leave. Tom & Rupert had the same choice last year when they finished.
