| | |  Dan Radcliffe apologises for not attending Comic-Con; talks birthday & end of filming
In a new interview, actor Daniel Radcliffe voiced his sorrow at not being able to attend this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, where a lengthy trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released (Tom Felton premiered the clip on behalf of the cast and crew). Dan also noted that he had recently completed some post-production voice-over work as Harry for the final films, and celebrated his 21st birthday in style in St. Petersburg, Russia. Quote:
"It was fantastic. I was in St. Petersburg for my birthday, which is probably the most beautiful, the most incredible, wonderful place I've ever been in my life. It really is absolutely amazing. I went with two friends and it was brilliant."
On missing Comic-Con: Quote:
"I apologize to all the wishful thinkers for my disappointing non-presence," Radcliffe said.
Dan was surprised to hear fans' disappointment at his absence at the massive convention. Quote:
"Really? Oh, God, I had no idea. I suppose it's like when I'm at Reading Festival and I hear that suddenly some amazing band is going to play a surprise gig and then it turns out to be total fiction."
Dan commented again on the final day of Deathly Hallows, which was on June 12, 2010, and confirmed once again that he and costars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were besides themselves with grief over the end of the series. Quote:
"You know what, I'd love to libel him and call it a lie, but, darn, he's absolutely right. We all three of us -- me, Rupert and Emma -- we just wept. And I've never seen Rupert Grint cry. That was really weird."
The Harry Potter star ended with a final note about Comic-Con, stating that he would one day love to attend. Quote:
"I've never done the Comic-Con thing," Radcliffe said, "and I really, really want to experience that."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.  | |

Well, traveling to another country for your birthday sounds like a lot fun, especially St. Petersburg.  Lucky, Dan! 
As for the Comic-Con absence, I can understand that it was his birthday so it provides a good excuse for not attending, especially since he's worked so hard. However, like he said, if you buy expensive tickets and look forward to the event for ages, and the main attraction they're looking forward to doesn't show up, I'd be pretty upset too. Let's hope in the future nothing like that happens for all the Comic-Con attendees.

I'm actually glad that he said something about Comic Con. I've ran across articles that said huge fans were still DISAPPOINTED that the trio didn't come as surprise guests, even when Tom came. I could have felt the same way if I actually went (although it would be fun playing Lego HP there).  | |

Apologise for what? They weren't listed as being there, so it's not his fault that a rumour starts up. Really it's Warner Bros who should apologise. They had 12 months in which to organise this better. Seeing the quanity and quality of stars who did attend, do you think they were asked a week or so before turning up? I think not. WBs would know how important this conference is more so than the Potter cast. In the UK we have nothing that compares to this. So blame WB.

In my opinion, he didn't really need to apologize about Comic-Con. I don't remember him saying he was going to attend, so his not going shouldn't be a surprise. Of course, if he did say and I just forgot about it, then it probably was appropriate. Now I've just confused myself.
