Gates has earned £4million from a string of hits since appearing on the TV talent show three years ago.
England's World Cup victory has catapulted Wilkinson into the sporting spotlight, earning him £5million from sponsorship deals and his salary from Newcastle Falcons.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich, 37, has been named Britain's richest person, with a fortune of £7.5billion.
The Russian tycoon made his pile from shareholdings in oil, aluminium and pharmaceuticals companies.
He is reportedly the sixth wealthiest person in Europe and the 22nd richest in the world.
