Post Cuaron wants to direct Potter

In an interview with Rope of Silicon, Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron threw his hat in the ring to direct another Harry Potter film.

Quote:
I would love to have the opportunity to revisit the Harry Potter universe. It’s an amazing experience to do those films because while you are doing those films you are surrounded by this amazingly beneficial energy. Everything that is surrounding J.K. Rowling’s creation, and I’m not talking about the film franchise, but J.K. Rowling’s creation is so impregnated with this amazing beneficial energy. For me it was two amazing years of my life and I wouldn’t mind at all revisiting that.
He went on to add that he was in Order of the Phoenix director David Yates’ office when J.K. Rowling was on the phone.

Quote:
I was in his office and since they are doing the Harry Potter movie right now David was talking to Jo and said, “Hey, Jo wants to talk to you,” and she just wanted to tell me that she really liked Children of Men (Cuaron’s latest film) and you know, it is just one of those opinions that really counts. She is a woman that I deeply admire.
And when asked if he’s discussed anything officially with WB about his wanting to return to the franchise, Cuaron responded:

Quote:
I am very good friends with David Hayman, the producer, and I think that they know and I think everybody is waiting to see what J.K. Rowling does.

I'm tired of hearing him say this again and again Talk about redundant!

I think it would be better for the kids to be exposed to a different director, different directing styles -- with every movie. I think that would help make them better actors.

he was a reasonably good director, but i just hated how the 3rd film mashed up the book so much. i think a different director should have a chance.

Oh thank you Merlin!!! *dies of Happiness* I would be so happy if he directed another HP film. He is brilliant! And because of him PoA is my favorite HP movie.

If he would direct another HP film that would just be the ultimate.

I love what he did to PoA this is my favourite movie so far and I think that he would be perfect for the Half-Blood Prince movie, because it has a lot in common with PoA - endless humor, horror, memories and all that I think he would do a great job

I really enjoyed PoA but I gotta say, I'm loving David Yates take! I think he should do them all now. Never mind letting other directors have a go.

I think every director so far has done a good job, especially David Yates with the look of this latest one.
I wouldn't mind Alfonso Cuaron doing another one.

He was a good director, and it wouldn't be that bad if he directed another.

Yes!! POA was by far my favorite hp film yet! I doubt he will get the job though....this new director thing IS kinda cool and i'm sure WB will give HBP to someone else. Quite a shame really because he rocked that movie!!

I did like POA, but he kinda nurfed it a lot and the last few movies are very important and their plots should'nt be flipped around like POA was.

I liked Prisoner of Azkaban, but the movie was completely rearranged from the book and there were some add-ins that I felt could have been left out for more important things.

I wouldn't mind if he did another movie, because it was good, but I'd like to see someone else do it and see what they come up with.

Wow, I am going to be disagreeing with everyone here.

I didn't like what he did to POA. Hermione just seemed like a "heroine" while Ron was just there. I like Hermione but not what he did to her. She is my fav. charactor but not in that one.
I know JKR likes what he did so he could be back but I don't want him back. POA is my least favorite movie and my 2nd favorite book.
If he comes back, I don't think I will like what he does to the movie.

I am not saying that he did a bad job, it was just so different and I didn't like it that much. If he comes back, I wish him luck though!

Can you tell that I am of two minds?

Yeah. POA was cool, except for the fact that they didn't include the Firebolt until the very end...He's a good director, but like y'all are saying, the others need a chance, too.

i didn't like the movie that much i just changed my mind!!!
he put so many parts that didn't have to be in it while he left so many things that were important out of it.
