| | | Coltrane unsure about his 'Potter' future Summary:
The Sunday Herald has posted an interview with Robbie Coltrane. Coltrane says the following about whether or not he will continue as Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies Article: The Sunday Herald has posted an interview with Robbie Coltrane. Coltrane says the following about whether or not he will continue as Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies: "I don't know. I really don't know what the circumstances will be for the last three. I don't know if I should be saying this, although if anyone has got any brains they'll have worked it out, but if Jo Rowling hasn't finished books six and seven within the next two years, the kids we've got at the moment will be too old to play the parts. And they may not even want to. So it depends on the variables. In some ways I would rather get on with something else, but I don't want to say that because it sounds so...ungrateful.
"So, no, I don't know if I'm going to do any more. They will, of course, to enchant me back, offer me frightening amounts of money."

| Come to think of it, altho its kinda painful to accept-- the series will be eating up the entire teenage life of the young cast! The trio started at around 11 years old.
It wont be fair anymore to Dan, Rupert, Emma and Tom if they do the entire series-- Tom will be 18 by the time the 5th movie is made (he's turning 17 this year!)... they cant be homeschooling all this time!
They'd be missing out on a lot-- normal school life with their friends, regular school activities, etc. etc. Its a sad fact!
If this happens, I'm just gonna be a full-time Rupert Grint fan.. coz I'm confident that he's gonna have a healthy showbiz career outside the HP franchise... |

However, these people have lives too. We only see the finshed 2-3 hour product, they have to act all year. Not that they arne't getting healthy sums of $$$$ but the teens probably want to be teens, for a little u know? |

| That sucks, even more than the kids I wanted the adults to remain throughout the series. I know it's harder for them, because they can get work in other films, but I like seeing how their characters evolve and I've gotten used to thinking of Hagrid as Robbie. I thought he was one of the more perfectly cast actors. Besides, I thought the adults were contractually bound to do all 7 films, if they end up making them?
Darn it... |

| :o OMG! No, he can't leave! This is turning into a disaster, John Williams might not do the music anymore, the kids may feel they're too old and now one of the adults is considering not going on
Robbie IS Hagrid, no doubt about it. He made Hagrid just come alive on screen, no one else on earth can play him. I mean I'd just LOVE it if Richard Harris still played Dumbledore but sadly he passed away so now Micheal Gambon is Dumbledore.
I say that if the actor feels like they can still play the character then continue. The kids are getting lots of money, but they aren't actually spending it (apart from Tom and his BMW...) And in interviews they say how they get to go home and chill like a normal teenager. If anything they are having a more exciting teenage life!
But I think Robbie's right to be concerned about HP film future. I mean how would he feel if Dan, Rupert and Emma left after GoF, I seriously doubt that he would want to continue playing Hagrid. Let's just hope that JK keeps writing (hopefully releasing HBP in Spring next year!) and that the main child actors keep it up. As long as Dan, Emma, Rupert and the rest of the main child cast are still there then I think the adult actors (Alan Rickman and Robbie, etc) will stay on too |

| Robbie made a very good point about Jo getting the books finished in time, but even if the trio are slightly older I don't think it will make a big difference, I think everyone would just accept them because they are the characters that they play. As long as Daniel or Rupert don't grow a moustache or something! lol
I hope Robbie stays as Hagrid, but I can understand him wanting to do other parts and ventures, but like he said, if they offer him obscene amounts of money, he's not going to pass it up is he! hahaha. |
