Gordon Brown, a British MP who was recently on a trip to China, asked a dozen teenage pupils what they currently wanted. Their answer? Harry Potter. Quote:
"We don't have a Nimbus 2000 broomstick," complained 15-year-old Yin Yuxi, referring to the transport of choice for fictional boy wizard Harry Potter, the creation of British author Joanne "J. K." Rowling.
Others chipped in, saying that little of the vast range of tie-in Harry Potter merchandise available to children in Britain was sold in China.
One girl even had to get her mother to knit her a scarf in the colours of Hogwarts School, the establishment Potter attends in the series of hugely popular novels chronicling his adventures, she said.
"Well, we will have to get British companies to sell them," said Brown, whose main business on the trip was slightly weightier matters such as China's exchange rate and the EU arms embargo on Beijing.
"It is a good way to make money," he said.
My mam made me a Slytherin scarf. Personally, I think it's much nicer than the official merchandise ones.

I (try) to knit, but I never wanted to take a go at the Hogwarts scarves til I saw the new ones... But doi at his comment "it's a good way to make money"... what did he think it was for?

Mmmm I am going to beg my grandma to make me a Ravenclaw scarf... It is never cold enough here to wear a scarf but I would still love to have one!
And the only HP merchandise I have is the cards and two HP figures (one casting a spell and one playing Quidditch and they were on sale!).

Me and my friend always go into there when we're at the mall. Constantly we're looking at all the hp stuff. It's so kool that I want everything there HP but I don't have enough money to go and get all taht stuff. But, I do have a Ron shirt, the hp pins, and two hp calendars.......I want a scarf.......

The HP merchandise at Hot Topic IS really cool, but I wish they made a nice Hogwarts crest t-shirt like the aged Gryffindor one! I would buy it in a heartbeat!!

I wish I knew how to knit, or at least knew someone how to knit. China is faily communist i think,so that is probably why they don't have much access to HP.

not only chinese but also us austrian children want more hp stuff! although i got round five poa calenders - and i shouldn't complain. i'm trying to get my mum knit me a gryffindor scarf for next winter.
