[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/hp_grandpre_80.jpg' align='middle'> China to prevent "Harry Potter" release - and other films Summary:
HPANA reports that HP might not be released in China. Article: China to prevent "Harry Potter" release
Associated Press is reporting that China may block international films from being imported into the country, beginning as early as July. This would delay the release of summer movies like Spider-Man 2, Shrek 2 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The move is apparently part of a campaign to protect the local film industry there: Quote: The reported ban comes after regulators recently began tightening ideological control over television, ordering celebrities to tone down their clothing and language and telling broadcasters to shun imported programming that doesn't fit China's "social system and national conditions." | Thats too bad. But there's got to be another way for those kids to see it. They could check the internet (not that I condone that, at all!!), or something. |

That is so sad that people have to live in a country where so much of their daily life is controlled by the government and what they deem appropriate. But hopefully they'll get to see HP soon.

I had a Communications teacher that was from China (if I remember correctly) and she said that people in China didn't find out about the Sept 11th/WTC tragedy until the next day because of the filtering of the media. I think she said even the internet is filtered there!

Welcome to Communism.
HP3 probably represents the loss of control of the Dursleys or something. Good luck getting it guys.

That stinks, I know that there are a lot of dedicated fans there. Don't they already have all the Harry Potter books? Not all written by JKR but I know that some Asian country has someone who finished up the series their own way.
