| | | Cedric's Death Makes EW's List of Tragic Movie Moments
The sad ending for Cedric Diggory (and all the fangirls) in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' has made Entertainment Weekly's top 8 tragic movie moments for 2005. Quote: 4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The murder of kind and decent Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson). It's the darkest moment up to that point in the Potter saga, as Harry experiences the death of someone close to him for the first time since he lost his parents. Meanwhile, he's forced to confront just how deadly his nemesis Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is, and how likely it is that their clash may claim the lives of more innocents.
You may view the rest of the top 8 here.

That's interesting. I didn't think there was a list of tragic moments, but I do agree, Cedric's death deserves to be in the top eight. That is one of the saddest movie moments I've ever seen. Cedric was noble, kind, and just a genuine hufflepuff. He didn't deserve to die. That's why we'll remember him. I don't think any of us fans will forget that moment. |

It wasn't too sad for me, but I guess cause I'm a guy. For the girls, yeah I heard a bunch crying in the theater.

I agree it should've been #1!! Of the 3 times I went I cried in all of them but I had to try and hold back the tears because then I would come out with my eyes all red and puffy. Oh I wish he didnt have to die *sobs*.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Felisia | I have to be honest...I didn't cry when Cedric died. I cried when the showed the whole Great Hall set up like a funeral. The whole funeral idea was still a little close to home for my past. But I've seen the movie 7 times now, and each time I watch the graveyard scene more closely. And when I do, it get even more emotional. The part where Harry's parents reaapear and Cedric asks Harry to take his body back. That gets me everytime! When Amos Diggory comes running down screaming "That's my boy!" is very tear-jerking. My favorite scene is the graveyard scene. The composition is beautiful and the attention to detail and the acting is superb! |
