The sad ending for Cedric Diggory (and all the fangirls) in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' has made Entertainment Weekly's top 8 tragic movie moments for 2005. Quote: 4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The murder of kind and decent Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson). It's the darkest moment up to that point in the Potter saga, as Harry experiences the death of someone close to him for the first time since he lost his parents. Meanwhile, he's forced to confront just how deadly his nemesis Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is, and how likely it is that their clash may claim the lives of more innocents.

That's fair. I have to admit that I always almost crying, especially when Harry came back with him and when Mr Diggory saw that it was his son, I had tears in my eyes but since I was with a friend of mine that didn't stop looking at me to see my reaction I couldn't cry...

This scene was the most tragic for me! But I agree with karen_ginger, when Mr. Diggory shouted "My boy!" it was also the hardest part to get through. Of course when Cedric's ghost appears and says "Take my body back" I was in tears as well! *tears up* Robert is so dashing, why did he have to die? Anyway it's ace it made the Top 8!

If I didn't feel so "Tragic," I'd have coloured the text. But, it's not surprising that it should be given a place as a tragic Movie Moment. In fact, I think i ought to have been placed in the Top 3. It certainly left me saddened; the realization that Cedric Diggory was actually dead. It felt so impossible, yet it was the solid, inevitable truth. Well, anyway, I know that part deserved this - actually, much much more.

Honestly, it should've been #1! And I'm not saying that because it's Harry Potter, but because it was just more tragic than those after it. But then, it brought back a lot of terrible memories for me. Seeing Cedric's father... the pain in his eyes was eerily reminiscent to the pain my father had in his when my brother died. The guy playing Mr. Diggory was authentic.
I'm not sure why, but seeing the Narnia one on there cracks me up. I suppose it was sad, but I knew how it turned out so it didn't really make me cry...
