| | | British media reports the new book six title - reactions in the media Summary:
Opinions and reports from various British media. Includes a picture of what the book may look like. Article: British media reports the new book six title
As more newspaper reports roll in, I'll edit this article, so you might want to refer back to it a few times. Thus far The Mirror, The Sun, The Daily Mail & Newsround have reported on the new book six title, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the prince in question not being Voldemort or Harry. Here are some snippets from their collective reports: Mirror Quote: Rowling, 39, dismissed the idea, saying: "I'm trying very hard not to be offended that anyone thought this was possible." Another suggestion was Harry Potter and the Toenail of Icklibogg, to which Rowling responded: "Well, if you believed the Storge one..." Quote: Fans were able to discover the true title if they solved a puzzle to open a door on her website. But that led to even more confusion until her agent Christopher Little confirmed the real name. Quote: The latest Harry Potter movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban, earned £3.6million in the two days after release on May 30.
Because the film, starring Daniel Radcliffe, came out late in the month, it came sixth in the May cinema ratings. The Sun
They have done a mock-up of what the cover of the book may look like. This is in no way the real thing. Quote: In Potterspeak a half-blood is the offspring of a wizard or witch and a Muggle or Muggle-born — like both Harry and his arch enemy Lord Voldemort.
But the author added: “The HBP is neither Harry nor Lord Voldemort. And that’s all I am saying on THAT subject until the book is published.”* Quote: Rowling is still writing the book and no release date has been set, said a spokesman for her literary agent — who confirmed the title. Quote: She said: “I nearly fell off my chair giggling when I read that one — and I didn’t change the title because I was ‘found out’.” Newsround Quote: Fans around the world were excited as JK confirmed the title on her website, and also gave some more information about book six.* Quote: There was some confusion, as JK revealed in an interview that the title was also considered for the second book, Chamber of Secrets.* The CBBC are also holding a vote to see which is the favourite HP title for the books out of the six we've had so far. Half Blood Prince is currently in the lead by less than one percent. The Daily Mail Quote: The new book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, will be the sixth in the multi-million-selling tales of the schoolboy wizard. Quote: She disclosed the new title was one originally considered for the second book - which became Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Quote: She told visitors to her official website the HBP title was the one "I have been using in my head for ages and ages". Quote: Lucy Holden of Rowling's publishers Bloomsbury told the Sun: "We don't want to spoil the title but it has been hinted at on JK Rowling's website and we can now confirm the title will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." Quote: Rowling's American publisher, Scholastic, has also confirmed the title. Quote: Whatever the name of the book, it is set to induce near-hysteria among the huge ranks of Potter fans. Quote: The fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix sold 1.77 million copies on its first day last year.
It sold almost five times as much as the first day sales for the fourth in the saga, Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire, which was itself the fastest-selling book in history on its first weekend of publication in July 2000. Source: CBBC Newsround. |

I think June/July is more likely as it coincides with GoF and OotP release months.

its cant be long now
but i highly doubt that the image of the book is a true image.
im not sure if its the same in every country but on the british version of the HP books they are all colour schemed, and they have made this book purple, and purple being the scheme for PoA i dont think JK would use the same colour at all.
plus if you look at the style of the book it is also a vital clue. the style of the text and layout differs from previous books.
also i may be wrong on this but the picture on the book. it could and most probs is showing the 'Prince' and we have NO ider of who he is yet, i dont think there is anyay that anyone could no, only JK knows if i am correct.
but hey i could be wrong, just have to wait and see

Looks quite impressive to me, apart from the colour scheme.

Ummm...according ot this article a half-blood is the offspring of a pure witch/wizard and a muggle or MUGGLE-BORN. Which would make Harry a half-blood. James=pureblood, Lily=muggle-born!

I still don't get how it could have been used for CoS. Unless she had the idea of using it to refer to Tom Riddle in that book, but just liked the name, and is now talking about another character in this book. But then why would she say this book refers closely to CoS?
I think the big connection is the blood issue. CoS focuses a lot on the Mudblood/muggle born issue and the discrimination of it.

I think the big connection is the blood issue. CoS focuses a lot on the Mudblood/muggle born issue and the discrimination of it. I think she intended to use the Prince, as a sub story but then decided it was too important and needed a book to itself. I doubt the Prince is actually named in CoS at all. I think CoS is important because of it's themes and implications.
