| | | ASOUE star Liam Aiken considered for role of Harry
The New York Metro has a new interview with Liam Aiken who stars as Klaus Baudelaire in the new film "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" which is based on the books of the same name.
The young star was once favoured by Chris Columbus to play Harry in the first film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Quote:
But that was nothing compared with Harry. In 2000, paparazzi stalked his home, and British tabloids ran his picture under headlines like AMERICAN IS CONJURED UP TO PLAY POTTER. Director Chris Columbus was set on him. But Rowling decreed that only a full-blooded Brit could play Harry (Moya is Irish; her husband was American). "I know it sounds weird," says Moya, "but I remember Liam was so relieved."
"I think I had this feeling that it wouldn't work out," agrees Aiken, in a fatalistic, Snicket-like manner. "But it was fine. I hadn't done much before, and I would have just been Harry Potter from then on."
The film also stars Timothy Spall (Wormtail) as Mr Poe.

Interesting... if he proves to be a good Klaus, I'll be so annoyed that he wasn't Harry. But I would prefer the full blooded Brit so...

Hmm... At first I thought he was being considered as Harry for the next three films... Yeah, I really think that Dan Radcliffe is better, although I haven't seen "A Series. . ." yet...
Thanks for the info! :sorcerer:

Liams eyes are brown and his hair is brown, and he doesn't even really wear glasses in the film. Daniel is portrayed to be like Harry more than Laim!

I'm glad that Dan got the part of Harry, it may sound harsh, but i was relieved when Jo said Brits only, because you know that it would have just gone the direction, with having an American in charge, that HP would have been a 90% American cast, so i'm glad that Jo put her foot down.

liam kinda looks like he could be a harry, but im not sure, maybe we should have a photo of him w/glasses and a scar lol.. but i agree that it (HP) should've contained only british actors/actresses it'd be weird if one person has an american accent and the rest dont, things like that.. and im glad that dan got chosen!

I agree it has given our budding British actors and actresses a chance, instead of having an American cast. The stories are so quintessentially English it makes so much sense.

Too me it doesn't matter who got the part, but we would have been happy with any actor choses, although, it needs to stay brittish. Liam, however, when I first saw him in a trailer for ASOUE, really took on an HP appearance, but I like those books so I can't wait for the movie!

I dont like that boy actor, he was in that movie where he has a pet dog and it treats him like an animal? anyway, i think he looks nothing like harry, or maybe ive seen d.radcilffe in movies and merchandise so many times ive got used to seeing the scar on his forehead.
