Allan Rickman Influences POA casting - Rickman colleagues with new POA cast

Article:

If you review the new characters casting choices you would
be hard put to find better actors/actresses for the role...

but their are a few interesting details that have been overlooked.
By recent review of Allan Rickmans filmography you'll notice
that he recently worked with two of the main characters before.

Michael Gambon appeared with Rickman in the 2002 edition
of "Standing Room Only". Gambon is by far the best choice
for Dumbledore since the previous actors death. One can only
assume that Rickman put in a good word for Gambon since they
had recently worked so closely together.

Another recent film starring Allan Rickman is "Love Acctually".
Though critics are mixed on the rating of this movie; Rickmans
performance is un-canny as always.

Emma Thompson, the pick of the litter for Proffesor Trelawny
stars opposite Rickman as his character's wife. I'm sure his
good impression of her acting ability lead to a kick-in-the-bum
for the casting director of POA.

Fans of HP can only hope that with the release of POA we
will get a glimpse of all the cast talents. Including those
new additions that got the thumbs up from our favorite
Prof. snape (rickman).

yeah rickman as snape is perfect.......... i'm sure all he did was put in a good word, he didn't force the casting director............. both gambon and thompson are famous so it is possible that rickman had nothing to do with their casting

I think it's ridiculous, Alan doesn't decide anything or recommend anyone.

I think they are simply running out of famous British actors. LOL.

Of course I'm not objective, Snape not being my cup of tea, being in Gryffindor myself and everything.

Sorry, but this is juuust a rumor, and a coincidense that he was working with those actors recently. An actor has no control over whom the director chooses, otherwise they could just march up and say "Choose me!" *shakes head* A director will look at other movies that an actor has done to search for technice, and that there's a good working relation with an actor is an added bonus, but look at it lagically, Trelawney's charcter hardly has more than one scene in the intire movie with Prof. Snape, and then it's just at the feast and it's not like they realy have to interact or whatnot. *shrugg* One shouldn't believe such things, because they undermine an actors reputation. Particularly if you say that actor A wouldn't have been hired if it weren't for actor B... it's just not right.

please, Rickman can't "get" anyone to play anybody! That's the job of the director, and the only person that can sway the director is the producer!

I guess we can all only hope that Alan gets to work next to people he likes and trusts. Perhaps even people who recognized as talented indeviduals who deserve the parts.
Alan's been acting for quite some time and if these actors/actresses have his ear then perhaps it's to their favour that Alan has the ear of the director. Remember it's not *What* you know, it's *Who* you know and *Who* you know can always be to your benefit. So what if Alan put in a good word for these people whom he knows from having worked with them before. We all enjoy their acting abilities when we watch the movies and i'm sure we all should be thanking Alan for having put in a good word for them after we've watched these movies.

I love Alan Rickman, i think that is is definatly a good thing that he is working on the HP set with people he is already confortable with. This will make the filming and such go alot smoother.

Actually it's quite possible, and very likely that Alan Rickman had some influence on who was cast. If you go on www.imdb.com and type in Sean Biggerstaff, and read his mini bio, it says that Sean got his big break when Alan Ricman asked him to play in The Winter Guest which led to his role in the Harry Potter films.

Soooo it sure sounds to me that he does have some influence in casting choices.

Not quite sure why I'm arguing bout this, just thought I'd share

Yippie! Doncha just LOVE Alan? He's great.

I noticed that he had worked with those people too, but I thought it was a coincidence.

The grammar in this article leaves something to be desired, doesn't it? Do you think it's from a very reliable source? :S
