Alfonso Cuaron, the direct of the third Potter movie, was at the BAFTAs in London just recently when he first heard of the rumours of him directing the Deathly Hallows movie. He described being able to do this as 'something sweet'. A video interview can be seen here

I think he did a great job on PoA, but there was something about the movie that I just didn't like. Its hard to put my finger on really, but something about the way it looked on screen just didn't feel the same as the others. Maybe it was just the fact that there were more outdoor scenes and less magic I guess, but I loved the way it was directed. I think the actors were made to present their characters in a more prominent way. Like maybe the director demanded more from them than the other directors of the first 2 movies. ANYWAY, back to earth for a minute. I would like to see him direct another potter film.

He is a great director, but I don't want him near Harry Potter again. The third book was butchered far too much. He lost the magic and lots of the emotion.

I hope he does direct DH, when the time comes. He did a very good job with PoA even though some things where ... messed up. But, not all movies are perfect!

He's a great director no doubt, but I don't think he's right for this movie...I love PoA, but...as you all know from seeing that movie...I don't want anything out...

He really brings something different and unique to the table with the way he does things. I really wished he would have done GoF too, because in my opinion that movie was not up to par. interesting... not sure how I feel about him directing the last one. I liked the feeling of the 3rd movie but hate how it deviated from the book. I'm torn on this one!
