An account by an auditionee Article: Account of the Patil twins casting Thanks to Marissa for sending in her account of the auditions for Parvati and Padma Patil that took place today: I had to wake up at 6:30am to get ready, and we left at 8:00am. My dad, my friend Jasmine & myself took the train and arrived at 9:15, and there was a MASSIVE queue already. We were told to come back at 10:00 but there was still a queue when we came back, that went halfway down the street and was packed with Indian girls. Jasmine and I sort of stuck out, because my dad is Caribbean so I’m only half Indian, and Jazz looks Indian, but her skin colour is white. And what’s more, I kept having panic attacks and speaking loudly (it's a habit of mine), so everyone kept looking at us. Ok, anyway, it took us two long hours to get out of the cold (we had to wait on the pavement, standing up – IT was FREEZING!). When we finally got in it was around 11:15am. Around 20 of us had to go in at a time and 10 in each room. Jasmine and I went in together, of course. Inside were just two women sitting next to one table, with a stack of forms and a Polaroid camera. I was like, “what?” because I had straightened my hair, got my speech ready for “why I should be in Harry Potter,” brought my resume, certificates, book and everything. And in the end all you had too do was fill in this short form about your name, address, telephone no. and Mum & Dad’s names. Then they took a photo with another person (I went with Jasmine obviously) and then you just left. I was told that they were going to get in touch with me in 2-3 weeks, to tell me if I look the part and then they would concentrate on my qualifications. In the end I thought it was a waste of time, but now I think about it, how else were they going to do it? Anyway, this is what happened, and I’m sure you’ll hear from me soon about what happens next if I get through! |

schools name Highly doubt that. Probably thopse would be brit kids too, apart from those who have speaking roles. They will probably be from Norway or France, depending on which school they're from.

Well, then, that seems strange. Why would they tell your friend one thing and then the rest of the American population, something different?

They wont spend extra money on US kids when we have plenty in the UK. They wont change their minds and besides if you're a HP fan, you should respect JK's decision to have all brit kids.

If the UK runs out of kids, maybe. Otherwise it's pretty pointless spending more money than they have to, to have someone fake the accent.

It would cost triple the amount to host a US kid as it does a british kid. Doesn't take much to see which is the more sensible option.

Because it costs them more money to get american kids. WB are a money making company, therefore they like to spend as little as possible.

This is a cool article. It shows you how the auditions go. I feel so sorry for her, after all that time she just had a picture taken and filled out a form. I'm confused though, where did you find this? Something about Marissa..?

That's funny, because the casting director said they were not even opening foreign letters.
Unless you have a reply, you cant really say what they're asking US people, that's if they're even asking anything of you.
Which they say they're not, in public appearances. So, if they are, they could be prosecuted for lying.
