| | | A sentence missing from the UK HBP
A fansite owner has discovered that a sentence that appears in the US edition of ' Half-Blood Prince' is not present in the UK edition of the book. The sentence, which is featured in a crucial part of the story, could appear to change the way fans view the novel.
The segment in which this sentence appears, can be read below: ""I can help you, Draco." "No, you can't," said Malfoy, his wand shaking very badly indeed. "Nobody can. He told me to do it or he'd kill me. I've got no choice." "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine."" (HBP pg 591/552)
"But it's unlikely," Mr. Haber told us, "for complete sentences to be in one edition and not the other. On top of that, when you read the missing sentence I think you'll agree it's a very important sentence, making it extremely suspicious that it's missing from one of the editions."
You can go here to discuss the implications of this discovery. Note: You will need a password to enter this forum; the password can be found here.

I've checked and it IS missing. Needless to say, this could change the whole view on a certain death; the implication that death could be feigned to save life. Wow.

The question is, why was it removed? Was it done on purpose? And if so, was it because it implied too much. If not then how could such a big mistake happen? Lots of questions; I'm itching for answers!

It couldn't have been removed on purpose. Must have been an error.+ But it didn't seem to be that crucial did it ?

It could've been. If it implied too much, then it could've been in which case maybe it was accidentally printed in the US version when it shouldn't have been. In my opinion, it does indeed open a whole new can of worms.

If you say so. But then, it could've been a simple error. Won't it be a world wide alert with red lights flashing and alarms going on if an important sentence had been missed ? Just Kidding !

Doesn't it look important to you? It's not earth-shattering but it's still important in the sense that it implies something.

We can expect loads and loads of theories from one missing sentence in a 607 page book ! Interesting figures isn't it ? |

It may be just one sentence but the suggestion is interesting because of who it came from and what happened to that person.

| I find it strange that a sentence would appear in one edition of a book but not in another. Is it possible that there are more sentences missing? I can see how this will definitely bring in many more theories.

How could that happen ?
Were they stressed out ?
Was it JUST a mistake ?
Or was it left out intentionally ?
Okay I'm not sure if this sentence will give the whole death and the situation of certain people a different meaning but it's mysterious

I don't really see the reason why a sentence would be left out on purpose. Maybe someone hacked something before the printing... o_O

| Ultimate Potterite Original original Guess they made a mistake! I don't think they'd leave it out on purpose, so it was definitely an accident. *shrug* I guess they'll have to fix it! |
