| | | 13 year old the next JK Rowling?
At just 13 years old Emma Maree Urqhart, is being built up to be the next J.K.Rowling. Her book, 'Dragon Tamers', sold 50,000 copies in just six weeks. Quote:
The book is about a teenager playing a computer game, but if she dies in the game, she dies in real life.
Emma told The Times newspaper: "I enjoy writing. It's a lot of fun. My parents encouraged me to write."
Quote:
Her publisher thinks the book could sell as many as 100,000 copies in its first year on book shelves.
Emma is now working on another book about the same characters in the series.

Wow...I don't know how a 13 year old girl could sell that many copies. She must be pretty good. Well you would asume that is a topic said '13 year old girl the next JK Rowling?' JK Rowling is the best of the best.

The girl I babysit for has written a novel length book and is looking for publishing. It's pretty cool that writing isn't restricted to experience nowadays, that fantasy is getting more attention!

I'm a bit of a skeptic. Number of books sold doesn't mean it's a good book for sure, and getting published can be a stroke of luck. I'd rather read the book before I get too impressed. Wasn't Heir Apparent a story along the same lines? And This girl named Bujor wrote a book at 15 and a lot of people said it was pretty rough around the edges...
*Hurries off to find the book and see what all the fuss is about*
Don't kill me, I'm just playing devil's advocate here

That book sounds like a book I had to read for school in 7th grade, hey I was 13 then. Hmm, I wonder if that where she got her idea

Oh, I wasn't accusing her of stealing someone's idea! I just meant that the quality of writing should be pretty good if she's going to be called the next J.K. Rowling. I hope to be able to take a look at it and see what direction she took her story in.

You're an awesome writer!! Unlike me, who has 3 different books I KNOW I will write... after my 2 year-long writers-block goes away...
As for this girl, I hope she is as good as she is labeled. I think I'll try and find her book sometime and check it out.
