That does not surpise me. I finally pre-ordered mine down at my local Barnes & Noble store two weeks ago. The sales clerk informed me that his store was only receiving an initial shipment of 3,000 books - my order was #2,992! He said that if you didn't pre-order the book, then there was no guarantee that you would get a book at midnight on Friday.

 Dang, you people must live in big cities.  My town only has 2 bookstores, and I don't think either of them are open at midnight. Of course, every other store you can think of (even our Harris Teeter) will have tons of the books. I pre-ordered mine from Waldenbooks.

Oh that's a lot! unfortunately i couldn't preorder mine because the bookstores didn't even know when it would be out, nor did they know if they would receive it on the day of release! Well, understandably i'm desperate..  | |

Ahh! This makes me wanna go to Borders on time, so I can get my preorder before it runs out. And yes, I hope I won't need to stand lifelessy in a very, very, very, VERY long line.

I wonder how many pre-orders there were around here. I know that last time, there were no books left after 10AM.(we don't have midnight release parties so that whole batch was there around 8AM when the shops open, and it was gone 2 hours later)

w0w! its a good thing i pre-order mines 2 months ago at the barnes & noble at the citigrooup building in manhattan. But the bad thing is that just recently i discovered that the barnes & noble in union square will be brodcasting a speech by Jk Rowling which i think i won't be able to attend because i can't pick up my book there! ON FRIDAY NIGHT I WILL GET MINE@!#%#$@$#@^$*&((*)^%

wasn't it reported that hbp orders had only just surpassed 500,000 copies a few weeks ago?
maybe people are ordering twice just to make sure they get a copy.

All the book stores around me open at 9.01am on Sat, I think so it is a worldwide release, as in it comes out the same time as you guys at midnight on fri

Oh,that's me....Actually,I think we got two of them....But I live in Arkansas,so the city I'm going to only has 65,000 peeps in it,and less than half of them like HP and there are four bookstores....I should be ok.
