Question Is it just luck that harry got Snape's old book, or did someone plan it that way?

Is it just luck that Harry got Snapes old book? Or did someone plan it that way? What do you think?

Just luck I think. When they enroll in the class they are told they can use some of the school books that are lying around in the classroom until they get their own. I think only Snape would have known his book was down there, and he certainly didn't make sure he got it.

How would Slughorn have known it was Snape's book though? It wasn't labelled in anyway that he could possibly know.

Snape was very angry Harry had the book, so would not have made sure he got it. Also, Slughorn is much older than snape, they were not students at the same time, nor was it implied they were in any way friendly.

Interesting question. I don't think Snape of Slughorn would've planned it that way. but it is interesing that Snape's old book be in the cabinet. After all, he used to teach the class. And as soon as Snape saw what Harry did, he immediately asked ot see Harry's books. So he must've known that the book was there. I mean who else would remember their old potions book that fast if they hadn't seen it since their school years? But I don't think it was plan. Although Snape must've wanted someone to see it if he left it there in the open.

But he must have left it in the classroom so no one would find it and "steal" his spells! He must have known that it was there!

I think it was luck that Harry got the book, but Snape knew it was there. I think he intended it to go to someone else.
Whats the point in creating spells and stuff if others dont learn how "Great" the Half Blood Prince was?

Snape was not the original owner of that book. When Harry examined that book, he noticed it was written 50 years ago. There is only one person we know of that was there 50 years ago, Tom Riddle. Knowing there was a connection between Tom and Harry, I think Slughorn recoginized the book and gave it to Harry, not realizing the book had been used by Snape. When Snape got the book he realized its history. He had a great desire to a deatheater, and maybe envisioned himself as #1 deatheater, and decided to give himself a title as Tom did. What better title than Prince, after his mother. A prince is one step below king. I think Snape had been the potions master for so long he forgot the book was in the cabinet.

Now that i think of it, i think Slughorn planned it because he knew about lily and everything and Slughorn was in Slytherin :]

i agree!^^^

i think he looked at it a lot and stuff. i mean all his spells he made were in their so he must have either forgotten it (doubt it tho) or maybe he wanted some slytherins to find it?
idk but i think it was just luck.

I really dont think that anyone planned for that book to fall into Harrys hands. The book makes him more powerful so I think it was just luck that he came upon Snapes potions book.
