as for what's wrong/missing- after reading 6 again.
1. eff the burrow burning scene. when I saw it I was afraid that meant they were going to cut all the burrow scenes from TDH part 1 - I mean destroying the burrow would be stupid considering that its the headquarter of the Order and almost like a character in the film- killing the burrow is almost like killing ron or hermoine. I have yet to find any shots of it for the new movie- so as far as I know the burrow is axed. unless yall have evidence to the contrary.
2. I didn't mind the diner scene but they should have been obligated to feature the dursleys to explain to the non-readers about the blood protection Charm and they could have set a lot of stuff up with that one conversation- For TDH, they better show them in the last one-Dudley's change of heart is important. I have a feeling they're going to -pun intended- cut to the chase. they have to close that part of the story with the Dursleys. Even if its just a flashback in harry's head
3. more memories, less lavender- at least the mems that set up and point out the importance of the horcruxes: the cup, the locket, and maybe Dumbledore saying out loud for the people that haven't read and don't know whats going on- "You must find and destroy them all before you can destroy Voldemort" They didn't necesarily need to go into the pensieve either maybe just a line or two even a photograph-or the mini-memory where they show the two-inch hologram of the person talking(like Burke talking about the locket) that's the kind of stuff you can do in film.
there are a few things they changed that I liked- Harry's use of Instant Darkness Power- the phelps(weasly) twins are funnier in films than the books- Dan Rad is funnier- there's a lot of humor in this one which makes the time seeem to go faster- I don't mind that Ginny helps Harry give up his habit of reading the book(which they didn't really make clear that it was a problem until he sectumsepraed Malfoy). And no levicorpus? all you need is a wire tied to a stuntman's ankle and hoist the dude up. hell you could use a c-stand.
and yes a funeral for dumbledore it would have been nice to set up the tomb but - they could've set that up with a single frame- I think in TDH they are going to cut to Neville and gan at Hogwarts sooner than the book does so they might show it then. Plus they might use the Daily Prophet and show the article of the obituary and a few moving photos of the funeral.

4) luna saving harry from the hogwarts express...it was tonks originally, so that explains the presence of aurors in hogwarts and the "wolfy" patronus
I know I am missing some of the stuff I thought about when I first saw the movie, but when I remember I will post it. yeah they could have done more with bill and greyback and remus- an actual werewolf fight between Lupin and Greyback would have been better than the burrow fire- maybe make the Tonks and Lupin relationship more prominent- it was almost too subtle for the masses-
i try to watch the films as if I had never read the books and for the most part I think the non-readers would be confused and disappointed after watching the films because they expected an all out war after the battles in the Ministry from OOTP abd they get stupid middle school romance and random flashbacks about a character they barely see(You-know-who).

I thought it was perfect! It was just like the book! Well, yes, they oblivsly had to leave some stuff out, all movies do, but i thought they left everything big in! The only thing they could have added was the mini battle at the end. But other than that is was amzing! I loved the burrow scene they added!

RIP Albus Percival Wilfric Brian Dumbledore! Added: More lightning effects, at certain times the movie was very dark and i couldnt see some of it.
Removed: Nothing it was awesome!
Edited: Ginny's lines. 'Nuff said and her relationship with harry, make it more romantic and not to make it seem like 2 little kids kissing behind bushes so the teacher dont see -.-
I dunno why but i am in love with the whole storyline to harry potter, J.K. Rowling is a legend in my books that she wrote I want the world of harry potter to be real!!!!!

I think that the battle at the end could have been shown in the movie, as well as a bit more time for Dumbledore's burial... hello, TOMB?! Where is it?!
One thing (well, actually two) that annonys me every time I watch it is the bit at the Burrow, where there's the big ring of fire and then Harry runs out and yadda yadda yadda... it's not in the book and it's TOTALLY POINTLESS! The other thing is the waitress scene... again, pointless.
But bits of the film were good, it was overall pretty decent

I would agree to those posts about the Dumbledore's Funeral and the Romance between Lupin and Tonks. One of the highlights of the HBP is the death of Dumbledore, so they should somehow gave an effort of showing his funeral. And of course, JK Rowling said that by the sixth book, everything about romance will be cleared to all. So I think, the thing between Lupin and Tonks should have been showed more.
I don't see any romantic contact between them during the Attack at the Burrow (which is not even part of the storyline in the book). I don't think that simple 'Sweetheart' from Tonks will do to let the people know that they are a couple.
My mates who don't know much about the book were even surprised about her, calling Lupin 'Sweetheart' because there's no sign of their being romantically involved at all. They sort of freaked out and said, "WHAT did she say?? Is there something going on with them?" with all this curiousity. It's a great failure on that part, I think.
And I think, if they really made Lupin and Tonks already a couple in the film, they should have somehow shown a part wherein Lupin is currently visiting Tonks on Hogsmeade, the night that the death of Dumbledore and the attack of the death eaters on the Astronomy Tower will happen. At least, by that moment, they will be able to witness the event and respond to help the professors in protecting the castle from the death eaters who broke in. At some point, it will show some fight scenes between some death eaters and professors together with Lupin and Tonks (so that the Battle of the Astronomy Tower will not be left out just like what they've did.)
*Sorry for being too long. I just love to write a lot of stories and poems, so I grabbed this opportunity to share my thoughts and some possible revisions that I've been thinking since I was not really satisfied about the whole outcome of HBP. Nice thread anyway. |

He should have put the "In Noctem"-scene in the movie !!!! ( YouTube - "In Noctem" [HD] - HBP deleted scene - if you haven't seen it)
It's AWESOME, and I love the song. Big mistake!

The transition between going back to school right after the Christmas Burrow attack and the looking at the 2nd memory is unimaginably awkward. My mom could've directed a better sequence.
It's like, the scene ends in the school hallway of Harry walking away from seeing Lavender & Ron, he just sort of listlessly looks around and the shot lingers for about 3 unnecessary seconds, cut to a practically static shot of Dumbledore's collection of memories, then a no-dialogue VERY awkward shot of Dumbledore just standing there and the camera point of view into the pensive.
WTF?

I loved the scene where Ron eats the chocolate spiked with love-potion. And where Harry drinks the Felix Felicis and Aragog's funeral (Especially with the pincers!). Slughorn's tale where the fish vanished like "poof" was hillarious.
I would have loved to see the apparition lesson, and the scene with the potions book -- "Is this your Potions book, Potter?" "Yes." "This is the copy of Advanced Potionmaking you purcased from Fluorish and Blotts?" "YES." Then why does it have the name Roonil Wazlib written in the front cover?"
And why did Luna find Harry in the train instead of Tonks?

More of the Pensieve.
Snape went outraged when Harry called him a coward.
Dumbledore's funeral - As when Madame Maxine & Grawp trying to comfort Hagrid. If I'm not mistaken, Krum was present too. |
