Hagrid woke early on this particular Saturday morning. He had a very strange feeling. He didn't know what the feeling was about. He climbed out of bed and looked out of the window, it was bright and sunny. After pondering about his feeling he walked over to the cabinet to retrieve his kettle. Once he grabbed his kettle, he started making his favorite tea.

He was getting ready to sit down and drink his tea, when there was a knock on his door.Hagrid wondered who would be calling so early in the morning,so he got up to opened the door.

"Harry, Ron, Hermione, what're you doin' 'ere so early?"

The three kids were completely drenched for some odd reason.

"Come in" he told them. "Why are you all wet?" He asked as they walked inside. They came in and sat down at his table. They looked completely miserable. Hagrid peered outside of the window to realize that oddly, it was not raining.

"If it ain't rainin, then how did you-why ya wet?" he asked.

Harry stammered," B-Because w-we fell into the lake."

"Well why'd ya lot go and do tha?" Hagrid asked.

"Hermione saw a big bumble bee and dragged us off towards the lake. We slipped and fell."

Why is Harry lying to Hagrid,maybe he doesn't have the guts to tell hagrid what happened thought Ron.

Hagrid stared & asked Hermione,"whats so fun abou' a bumble bee?"

Hermione answered, " Um.. ok so we didn't actually fall because of a bumblebee...we...we fell in because of...oh Ron, you tell him."

"Me?" said Ron & looking at Hermione if she were crazy, "you tell him".

Hagrid looked from Harry to Hermione and ron and back again, "Would one of ya just tell me aready, it couldn be that bad, eh?" He said as he walked over to pour some tea for them.

"Actually, it is bad. Well, sort of,"said Harry.

"Are ya gonna tell me o' not? said Hagrid in anger tired of their silly excuses.

"Well," said Hermione, "it all started when..." and suddenly she started crying.Harry stepped forward.

"Ok, I'll explain it to you, today in the morning, we were as usual getting ready when we found a note in the common room and it said --" he hesitated.

"It said to go to the lake," Ron supplied & Harry nodded.

"Tha's all?" Hagrid said, "Then how'd you lot fall in the lake?".

"You did not let us finish!" said Harry trying to calm Hermione down. "Well, the letter had followed us outside," Harry continued," and then it flew directly over the lake..." But Harry couldnt continue, he didnt want to say waht happened next.

"Go on," Hagrid said, slightly loosing his temper. "I wan' ter kno' wha' happened." "An I wan' know why it made Mione cry." Hagrid added.

Sobbing, Hermione said, "It was Draco, getting back at us for what we said about his family earlier today."

"He pushed us into the lake & the Giant Squid completely taken aback sort of attacked us," Ron said.

"Anythin' else?" Hagrid asked. The three just stared at each other, wondering if they should tell Hagrid what had happened next.

"Actually, there is just one other thing..."said Hermione. "Nevillie was there too, and we haven't seen him since he fell in." Hagrid couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Well di' neville ever ge' out?!" Hagrid asked wondering why they didnt help him before coming over.

"Actually,we stood there for a while screaming for help and at the same time trying to help neville but then.."hermione paused,tears rolling down her cheeks again.

Hagrid gasped "The Gain' Squid didn' eat him did it?".That thought had occured to the trio but they just couldn't believe that that would happen.

"No, it isn't that..he is still alive but its something else..something even scarier" said Ron.

"Well then," replied Hagrid, "spi' it out then."

They looked at eachother, then Hermione finally spoke in a soft voice,"He's been put under the imperius curse." Hagrid didnt know what to say, and so absently began to drink some of his tea. Finally, after taking several large swallows from his giant cup, he sighed.

"What is it Hagrid?" Hermione asked. Hagrid didn't look at them but was staring out of the window apparently lost in thought.

"Hagrid," Harry said. "What's the matter?"

"I jus' don' understan' how this can be 'appening again ..." The three looked at each other shocked, "Again!?" asked Ron.

"Two years before you lot came to Hogwarts, something almost identical 'appened."

"Who did it happen to Hagrid?" Hermione asked.

"I ... I don' wan' ter tell yer. It doesn' reelly matt' a' all."

"How can you say that Hagrid!? Of course it matters if it happened 2 years ago and it's happening now! Please tell us!" exclaimed Harry.

"I don't wanna tell because it happened to a staff member" said Hagrid.

"Well,whoever it happened to,"said Ron "did they come back alright?"

"I told ya I ain't-wait-where exactly is Neville now?" Hagrid asked realizing he still had no idea. They looked at each other with worry in their eyes, not wanting to say.

"Why aren't you sayin' anythin'..is neville alrigh?"said Hagrid wondering why they were not replying.

"We dont know where he is,"Hermione finally said more tears running down her cheeks. Hagrid's face went pale under his dark beard as he gulped, "Al 'ight, don't fret..." He managed to say.

"Tell me, in exact detail, what happened before yer three ran to my house."

"Thats all there is to it" said Ron, "The letter, the squid, Neville..."

"No, I mean, before that - didja see where he went?"

"I don't understand what you're trying to say-where before he fell into the lake?" asked Ron.

"yeah,before that," Hagrid said & nodded.

"Well," started Harry," Not entirely sure but I am pretty sure he was testing something in the lake for Charms or at least that's what he said, not a whole lot of detail." Hagrid stared out of the window & the trio looked at each other very much worried about Neville. There was another knock at the door, so Hagrid rushed over and opened the door.There stood Neville, looking very pale and wet, he was shaking but not from the cold.

"The squid..the letter..I know who it was from" said Neville still shaking from fear.

"Well who's it from Neville?" Hagrid said and let Neville come inside.

"It was from Malfoy,"Neville said looking sick.

"Yeah, we know," Hermione sighed, then added, "it was because we made fun of his family earlier today."

"No, it wasn't because of that, it was because of..." Neville's face blanched.

"Then wha' neville,is there somethin' you know that you shouldn't know"said Hagrid.

Neville looked at the floor & said "It was because he was given the job to finish you three by Voldemort."

Hagrids eyes got wide as he heard that, "Nu uh! You' got to have your facts wrong!".

"Yea,How do you know that he was given a job and that also by Voldemort?" said Hermione.

"Because he told me himself!" Neville said.

"And why would we do that?" asked Ron suspiciously.

"Cos he has my parents & he wanted me to lure you to him..."Neville said still lookiing at the ground. Hermione's face blanched and she gulped hard saying to herself, "Oh dear, this is not good." No one said anything,they were all shocked.

"All right!" Hagrid growled. "Now tha we know we can do somethin' 'bout it!"

a Hagrid ficlet from me:

Hagrid wiped his hands on a towel and went back inside. His homemade butter was coming along nicely, but it was hard work churning it and he needed a drink.

Opening a bottle of butterbeer, Hagrid looked around his hut. It looked just as it had before he went outside, except for one of his blankets which had moved off the couch and was now a lump in the corner. Hagrid grabbed the broom and poked the lump. It let out a yell. A distinctly Weasley-like yell.

"What 're you doin' hidin' in here Ron?" Hagrid asked after removing the blanket to reveal the youngest Weasley boy.

"It's Lavender. She won't leave me alone" Ron said quietly.

"If there's one thing I know abou' lady troubles" said Hagrid, "it's that you can't hide from them, you have to be a man and deal with them. Now get out of my hut"

He grabbed Ron's arm and helped him out the door, before sitting on the couch and feeling rather pleased with himself for handing out such good advice.
