I walked quickly to dinner, Draco following slowly behind me, obviously neither of us wanted to be in the company of the other. Or seen like that anyways.

I was glad but disappointed to see Harry. Ginny was sitting right beside him, wiping something off his cheek, which involved sitting on his lap apparently. And no, I wasn’t over-reacting, since Carly looked at me, then at Ginny rolling her eyes. Even Ron gave me a guilty, puppy dog look seeing as it was his sister trying to steal my boyfriend.

‘Hey guys.’ I said sitting down right between her and Harry. Harry smiled and moved over, while Ginny scowled at me but moved as well.

‘Hey Mione!’ He said and leaned over to kiss me. ‘How was detention with Malfoy?’

‘It was alright. We had to clean the Charms classroom which was trashed by Peeves.

‘And Malfoy?’ Ron asked stuffing his face.

‘He wasn’t that bad.’ I replied truthfully. He was actually ok. I wasn’t going to tell Harry and Ron I thought he was kind of nice though.

‘Well what about you guys? What did you do at Hogsmeade?’ I asked choosing some food. I was famished. Cleaning and being chased by moving desks all day was definitely not the greatest thing to do.

‘Oh it was great.’ Ginny said suddenly. ‘We went so many places! And it was so funny, Harry remember…’

I tried to hold onto every word Ginny said but couldn’t help but feel jealous. Harry had a lot of fun, with Ginny, while I was with Malfoy all day. She was probably flirting with him too. I felt as if Harry was cheating on me, even though in reality he wasn’t.

We went up to the Common Room after dinner. Carly and I sat nearby the fireplace, and Harry and Ron played chess while Ginny sat watching.

‘You know Hermione, Ginny is a huge flirt.’ Carly said shocking me.

‘What?’ I asked though I knew what she meant.

‘I mean, I’m not trying to be rude, I just have to tell you.’ She said stroking Crookshanks who seemed to love her.

‘Well tell me! I don’t mind.’ I said quieter.

‘Ok, well today at Hogsmeade, you should have seen Ginny! She was all over Harry, literally. She took all the chances she could get and sat right beside him, she was always flirting and trying to touch him. I mean, she was being a total.. female dog!’ Carly told me loyally while grinning.

I laughed at her choice of words. ‘I know how she is. She used to have a thing for him. But she wants what she can’t have.’ I told Carly glancing over at Ginny who was giggling at something Harry said.

‘Well, she’s really setting high standards huh? I mean, up against you, she’s really losing. But it won’t stop her from trying. She could seduce him.’ Carly said with a laugh.

I grinned. ‘But Harry would never cheat on me, we’re in love!!’ I sighed leaning back on the couch.

‘Hmm, I hope not. He’s cute. You could do better though. You could probably get Malfoy if you wanted.’ Carly said smiling.

Was I flattered? Yes. Physically only though.

Personally.. no. Draco Malfoy was one of the rudest guys ever who treated girls with no respect. I tried explaining that to Carly, but all she cared about were looks.

She was really different, she knew how to flirt even more than Ginny and she knew how to hate on Ginny, that boyfriend stealing witch.

On Sunday I woke up kind of late. Carly and I were talking all night long and I was exhausted when I awoke but knew I had to get up.

I finished my homework and then went to shower. When I got back to the Common Room, Carly was up and extremely cheerful and looked as though she hit the jackpot.

‘What’s up?’ I asked curiously.


‘Omigosh! Hermione there’s the Slytherin Quidditch try-outs today!! Like in an hour!’ She said on the balls of her feet.

‘Your point?’ I asked.

Right.. this was Carly I was talking to. Boy crazy Carly, oh and Malfoy was the new Captain apparently.

‘My point, duh it that we go, check out the Slytherin hotties, and maybe I get to keep one of them.’ Carly said, making them sound like a pet or something.

I sighed and then nodded. ‘Fine, just for you. They love tormenting me though, especially now that I’m with Harry.’

‘Oh, well don’t mind them, I’m just there for the hot guys. It’s like a buffet, then, when I get my pick, we can go I promise. Anyways, isn’t Harry going to go? You know, see the competition?’ Carly asked.

‘Maybe. I doubt it though.’

We went to the Great Hall for breakfast. Immediately, we glanced at Harry and Ron, who were sitting with Ginny as usual.

I felt anger boil up inside me yet again, just like every other time I saw Ginny. How badly did she want him?

‘Hey Harry, Ron, Ginny.’ I said calmly sitting down beside Harry, as usual, pushing Ginny out of the way.

‘Hi sweetie.’ Harry kissed me and was about to pull back but I continued the kiss just for Ginny.

‘Mmm..’ I moaned and pulling back from Harry. ‘Wow you’re such a great kisser Harry.’ I told him making sure Ginny heard.

Harry laughed and looked dumbfounded by the kiss. ‘You’re amazing yourself.’
I smiled at him and then we ate breakfast.


‘So we’re going to watch the Quidditch try outs, you want to come?’ I asked Harry after we finished.

‘Slytherin try outs? No way. I see why you’re going though.’ Harry said while Carly was flirting with numerous guys at our table.

‘Yeah,’ I laughed.

We walked out onto the Quidditch pitch and it was almost completely filled with giggling girls.

‘Whoa,’ Carly sighed and walked towards the seats.

I looked around. All the girls were mostly here for Malfoy from what I could tell. There weren’t that many good looking guys on the Slytherin team so they had to be here for Malfoy.

We sat near the front, as close as we could get without having ten girls scowl at us. They all knew Carly was competition, especially since Draco loved new girls that were as pretty as she was, with her long silky blonde hair and startling blue eyes.

As Malfoy got the team ready to watch the try out, he walked around the stands and all the girls’ gazes followed him. I rolled my eyes and couldn’t believe that running your fingers through your hair could literally melt thirty girls. But I wasn’t that easily won over. Especially since I was in love with Harry.

The try out began and I was surprised I wasn’t that bored. It turns out, hanging around Carly all the time can make you extremely boy-crazy, even with a boyfriend who you love.

‘Wow Hermione! Check him out! Oh, he’s so handsome isn’t he? Wow, look at his hair and those eyes! He must be as hot as Draco!’ Carly said gazing as the tall sixth year flew, throwing the Quaffle into the hole, causing many people, girls mostly to cheer.


He actually was very good looking, his name was Travis Burke. He looked like he could be an actor or something. I heard about him before, from mostly Parvati and Lavender, but apparently no girl could get him. Hmm..

and the plot thickens.....

The try outs finally ended, though it was pretty fun to check out guys. The hot Travis guy made the team. I scolded myself for that. I already had a loving, good lookingboyfriend.

‘You could do better!’ Carly insisted when I reminded her I already had Harry.

‘Which one do I want… I know! Draco of course.’ She said with a cute smile, showing her dimples.

We walked down onto the pitch. The tall guy, Travis, who from up close I could clearly see his chocolate brown eyes and dark brown tousled hair, merely glanced at Carly while the rest of the team had their jaws on the ground as Carly and I walked towards Draco. Carly gazed at Travis as he left, his broom over his shoulder.

‘Wow..’ I heard her breathe before coming back to reality. ‘Hey Draco.’ Carly said and he turned.

He turned to face us, and a cocky grin spread across his face. ‘I was wondering when I would see you.’ He said looking Carly up and down, leaning on a broomstick casually.

Carly smiled flirtatiously.

He didn’t dare say anything to me, since he knew that would ruin his chance with Carly. He just glanced at me quickly before turning back to Carly.

‘Hey! Hey Draco!’ Pansy’s shrill voice caused me to jump in the moment of silence where Draco and Carly stood there sending brain waves to each other or something.

‘What do you want Pansy?’ Draco asked her.

‘Oh, well where are you going right now? I love the captain robes on you, they make you look so sexy!’ Pansy sighed running her hand down his chest.

Carly scoffed and fully looked Pansy down. ‘Draco, I was thinking we could go hang out? You know, somewhere private?’ She asked, smiling seductively.

Draco smiled and nodded. ‘Yeah.’

They left together leaving me and Pansy standing staring after them.

‘I can’t believe it!’ Pansy screeched and looked at me.

I shrugged and walked off, leaving Pansy to yell at nobody.
I went back to the Common Room where Ginny was flirting with Harry again. I took her place and talked with Harry while Ginny stared angrily.

Next time Carly was with me, Ginny would get the.. female dogging of a lifetime.

The next few days went on with Malfoy and I having detentions every day of the week, leaving barely enough time for homework. Our new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher was a stout man named Professor Pauvel who seemed alright but very nervous at times. I guess you would be nervous with such a cursed job.

Quidditch was a big part of my life so far, the Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff teams all had their Quidditch try outs, all of which Carly brought me too.

When I asked about her and Malfoy, she only told me they made out but always changed the subject so I figured it didn’t go well with them.

‘Hermione, would you mind if I went out with Draco?’ Carly asked turning to me suddenly one day.

‘Wh-why would I mind?’ I asked a bit taken back. She hadn’t told me much after she went off with Malfoy, but now she was asking me this?

‘Well, you and Draco seem to have a bit of a thing together, don’t you?’ She asked me.

‘No, I’m with Harry. I hate Malfoy. Why would you think that?’ I asked her bitterly.

She had already made out with him, and she didn’t ask me then. What was the difference?

We left our bizarre Potions class in the dungeon, and were on our way to lunch when Draco Malfoy stopped us through the busy corridor.
Mostly Slytherin and Gryffindor students littered the noisy hallway.

‘Will you be my girlfriend, Carly?’ He asked confidently out of nowhere.

I was shocked. So was everyone else who remained quiet waiting for her answer. No doubt she would say yes, the way he conducted himself made so many girls stop to sigh and day dream. So, of course no one was shocked when she said of course and kissed him on the lips.

I could almost sense the anger boiling in every other girl. The guys sighed sadly, and I even heard one say, 'Oh well, I guess she would never have gone for me, or you, or Kevin or any other guy.'

Draco actually was willing to go out with a mudblood. I guess having too many hormones could make you change your strict ways. In Malfoy’s case, he was going for any girl that looked good these days, as long as she wasn’t in Hufflepuff. He still had some respect from his fellow Slytherins.

I wouldn’t say Carly and Draco’s relationship was going well. They seemed so much alike, yet they weren’t fit for each other. They both judged people on the outer appearance, and had raging hormones apparently. Nonetheless, they continued dating for the next week.

The first Quidditch match of the year was at the beginning of October on a Saturday, Ravenclaw versus Slytherin.


The seats were packed and Carly and I rushed with Harry and Ron into some good seats. Ginny had finally, finally left us alone and tagged along with her own friends.

In the middle of the match, Carly got up. ‘We’re going to go to the washroom, be back soon.’ She said pulling me with her, the guys paying no attention with their eyes glued to the pitch.

‘What? I don’t have to go to the bathroom!’ I claimed.

‘No, look it’s Ginny, we can tell her off.’ Carly said with an evil smile.

We entered the bathroom where Ginny was applying lip gloss and all sorts of make-up that made her look so made up.

‘Ginny.’ Carly said with her famous fake smile. ‘Finally, with your own friends huh? I’m surprised you didn’t tag along behind Harry!’

Ginny gave her a dirty look. ‘Shut up. It’s not my fault he likes my company. And not Hermione’s.’ She said looking at me.

Did she think I would put up with her BS?

I pushed her up against the wall. ‘Back off *****. Harry’s my boyfriend ok? And stop hanging out with us, we’re not your friends.’

She actually looked scared, and her eyes had tears filling up. I know this was the first time I had ever been so cold to her, not many people saw this side of me. But well, it serves her right.

Carly laughed. ‘Find some friends your age.’ We began to exit when Carly turned back. ‘Oh and stop using so much make up. You look like a total wh-‘

‘Let’s go.’ I said with a laugh.

We came out in fits of giggles. That felt good to tell you the truth, and I knew she wouldn’t go telling Ron or Harry since they would find out she was chasing Harry all the time.

sorry i haven't been posting, gotta go, great posts and pams!!

We went back to the game where Ron and Harry were groaning. Apparently while we were gone, Malfoy caught the snitch. Carly was ecstatic and went to celebrate with him at his party.

I entered the Hospital wing later that evening and looked around for Madam Pomfrey, who was tending to a young boy with boils all over his face and arms.

I looked around, searching for Professor Snape.

‘Hello dear, can I help you with something?’ Madam Pomfrey asked, fiddling with a bottle of orange, steaming liquid.

‘Oh right, I’m here to check on Professor Snape.’ I explained, handing her the blue note from McGonagall.

‘Oh yes, ok.’ She replied putting away the bottle. ‘Come this way.’

She led me to a closed of section, obviously since Snape was a Professor and didn’t want Gryffindor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw students parading and laughing in front of his bed.

As I had my first look at Snape, I was completely shocked. I really expected something weird to happen, but he looked like he was merely taking a nap.

‘Why does he look normal? I mean, fifteen potions must have done something…?’ I asked.

Madam Pomfrey opened the curtains and looked outside, ‘Watch.’ She said simply.

I stared and gasped as Snape’s ears began to turn brown and hairy, his eyes, which remained shut, began to form brown fur as did his face, his nose changed into a nose similar to a dog. He was transforming into an animal or something.

As Snape the animal’s eyes began to flutter open, Madam Pomfrey pulled the curtains closed and in less than five seconds, he was back to his old greasy haired self.

‘That my dear, is what one of the fifteen potions has done to him every day at sun set.’ She told me, taking a small bottle of green glop and transferring it into Snape’s mouth.

‘Ok, now let me check his condition, it will tell us if he’s about healed.’ Madam Pomfrey stuck a blue thermometer into his mouth.

It obviously wasn’t a temperature taking thermometer but a magical one. It began glowing red and words appeared.

Madam Pomfrey's eyes widened. ‘Oh dear.. this is not good..’
