Hermione

Prefect duties at night were rather boring lately. Now I took to patrolling the halls by myself; Ron was mostly too slow, so he was assigned to patrolling the Gryffindor Common Room.

My footsteps echoed on the stone floor. Soon I heard another pair of footsteps joining them. Stopping and whirling around, I scanned my eyes behind me. No one was there. My brow slightly furrowing in puzzlement, I turned around once again and headed for the library. The footsteps behind me continued. This time, I jogged a bit and stopped suddenly, looking behind me at the same time. I caught sight of a black robe, which whisked out of view a moment later around a corner.

My heart was racing as I followed the direction of the cloak. I turned the corner, and would have screamed, if not for a certain Slytherin, who covered my mouth quickly. “Shut up!” Malfoy hissed at me angrily. “There’s no need to wake up the whole school!” He drew back his hand hurriedly and resumed his position of leaning casually against the wall.

“What are you doing here?” I asked heatedly, wiping my mouth (Slytherin germs).

Malfoy looked up from picking a seam on his robes. “I’m a prefect too, remember?”

I jabbed a finger at him. “This is my hall to patrol. Aren’t you supposed to be by the hospital wing?” My hand grabbed a hold of the tip of my wand.

Nonchalantly, he took my finger and lowered it. “Don’t point that at me,” he said in a low voice. “There’s no use for the wand either, Mudblood.” The look in his face wasn’t pulled in a scowl; instead, it was cold and jeering at the same time.

This didn’t faze me, though. My hand still loosely held my wand. “I shouldn’t have to discipline you, Malfoy. Why don’t you go back to your patrolling area with Pansy, where you’re supposed to be?”

A flame of anger shot into his eyes. “Don’t even mention Pansy. She’s a git.” His jaw gritted and his fists clenched slightly.

Shrugging, I shot back, “Look, I don’t give a care. All I care about is that you get back to your post. Now.”

Malfoy returned to his coolness, and he eased off the wall, stepping closer to me. “What are you going to do about it,” his voice was a whisper as he took a step even closer, “Granger?” He was now so close I could feel his breath on my face.

I scowled up at him, even though I could feel my face flushing. “I’ll tell a professor.”

Snorting slightly, he said, “They can’t do anything to me. Neither can you, as much as you’d like to think.”

“Really.” I glowered at him through my brown eyes.

“Really.” he mumbled. His hand slowly reached up and lightly, yet firmly, grabbed the wrist that was holding onto my wand.

At first I tried to squirm out of his grasp, but found myself listening to his words intently. I stopped myself from resisting.

“If I pulled you towards me,” he continued in an undertone, “I could do whatever I wanted with you. And you know it.” His fingers slowly drummed on my wrist. My heart beat faster.

His face was closer to mine now, about an inch away. Then he suddenly stopped and dropped my wrist. His voice resumed its louder demeanor. “Of course, I wouldn’t do that. Not to a mudblood, at least.” A malicious chuckle escaped from his lips as he melted into the shadows, towards the hospital wing.

By now I was breathing hard. Who did he think he was, to do that to me? You would think that he’d have more respect, even for…mudbloods. Like me.

aww that was close!! draco and hermione are like...the cutest ship ever!! hah glad draco didnt go tooooo far though

He was very sleek and very attractive, in a dark sort of way, when he held her close...i wonder how Hermione felt at that point....

First of all i need to say that you 'have' Draco completely. It is the Draco we all know and yet, we are taken aback by the fact that he didn't kiss her.
There was nobody at the corridor..noone in sight.. you need to come up with a good reason for leaving. I mean it certainly wasn't fear nor disgust, he likes her after all... maybe a little cowardice? Like we saw in HBP when he couldn't kill Dumbledore? I'm sorry if I'm taking this too far, I'm just trying to find out what's on your mind...because I can't wait to read it.

One thing is for sure..Hermione is both excited and disappointed..He could have kissed her after all..

Draco

The snow was falling outside over the weekend, the first snow of the school year. Plenty of students were having snowball fights and making snow creations.

I, however, was walking (accompanied by Crabbe and Goyle of course), looking for people to take advantage of. A dreamy-looking girl with wispy blonde hair and a long, blue Ravenclaw scarf caught my eye. When she walked, a jingling sound came form her pockets. Perfect! Galleons were just what I needed. She looked about a year younger than me, and, if I caught her off guard, I’d be able to nip a few from her pocket. Signaling my accomplices, we crept towards the girl from behind.

I was about to reach into her pocket when a clear voice reached my ears. “Luna, you might want to look behind you.” It was Granger. She looked at me grimly.

Luna, the girl whom I was about to steal from, vaguely turned to face me. “Oh, you,” she said. “You’re the one who took my textbook last week, I believe.” She said it slowly, dreamily, and even casually, almost as if she could care less.

“Uh…” I muttered, staring at the ground.

Luna shrugged. “Well, I’m used to people doing that to me. I’ve always wondered why. Do you think I’m strange?”

Granger caught my eye, giving me a cross look.

“Uh…” I stammered once again. Luna was quite unnerving at times, I realized.

Turning away from we wistfully, Luna shrugged. “Oh, never mind. People always say that.” With those words, she bobbed away, across the snow, with a hazy wave at the mudblood, who waved back with a smile. Girls confused me very much sometimes…

Hermione

I was glad that I was able to stop Malfoy from hurting poor Luna. She really was a sweet girl, but people overlooked it because she was a bit odd sometimes, I’ll admit. But she had a good heart.

Malfoy and I just stood there for a while, at least ten yards separating us. Then I heard a thunk and suddenly a very cold something splattered onto my neck. It was a well-aimed snowball. I whipped around. “Ronald Weasley!” I exclaimed, bending over to collect some snow. I hucked some at him and missed.

Laughing, he gathered some more, drew his arm back, and whipped it at my head. I ducked, however, and then heard a groan from behind me.

oooooh...niiice. *waits for more*
