Draco woke up the next morning early, having heard a loud thump on the door. He groaned and went to the door.

Dobby stood there looking frightened holding a piece of parchment. "Umm....sir"

"What do you want?! Spit it out!" Draco said angry from being awoken.

"A l-l-etter from t-the Prof-Professor." Dobby stammered.

Draco snatched it, "Out of my sight now!" he said sternly.

Pop! In a flash, Dobby was gone.

"Stupid elf" Draco muttered as he opened the letter,

Mr Malfoy,

Miss Granger has awoken and you, being her caretaker, are required down in the Hospital Wing immedietly.

Profesor McGonagal

After reading the letter, Malfoy threw on some clothes - while still managing to look perfectly groomed - and rushed down to the Hospital Wing.

Harry sleepily opened his eyes two find two giant eyes staring back at him.

"Oy!" he yelled and fell backwards on to the floor with a groan, "Dobby! What are you doing here!?"

"Dobby comes bringing good news sir." he said with a smile.

"What is it Dobby?" Harry asked groggily.

"It's Miss Granger, sir, she's awake."

Harry perked up, he immedietly changed and ran out the door shouting, "Thanks Dobby!!"

Dobby chuckled and went back to the kitchens.

Harry and Draco reached the Hospital Wing at the same time but didn't speak. Their glares said it all. Fortunately, Professor McGonagal opened the door at that time.

"Finally! Hurry up you two." They rushed in, not touching each other, and hurried to Hermione's bed.

Hermione was sitting up, smiling. But something wasn't quite right. You could tell. She was...different. Not 'good' different either. Just...weird. Harry faultered for a minute, but Malfoy ran to her side.

"Hermione, how are you feeling?" He asked, unconscience of the people surrounding him.

"Hermione? Who's Hermione?" Hermione gave him a quizzical look. Malfoy pulled away, horrified.

"She...she's still sick...she doesn't have her memory back." He stumbled away, reeling. Harry took his place.

"You are Hermione. You're at a school, and I'm Harry." Hermione looked more confused than ever.

"But.....then who's that?" She asked, pointing at Malfoy. Before Harry could spew out verbal abuse, Malfoy rushed foward and took her hand.

"My name is Draco. How are you feeling?" Hermione smiled at his manners.

"I'm feeling fine. In fact, you look familiar. Have we met before."

Malfoy pretended to think. "No, I don't believe so."

Harry started to protest, but Professor McGonagal stopped him. "But Professor-"

"Follow me, Mr. Potter." Harry had no choice. "Listen, this is a good thing that's happened. Miss Granger is very close to breaking the shell formed around her brain. Mr. Malfoy can help still. And he shall."

"But Professor-"

"No more but's, Mr. Potter. Harry, you're just too busy right now, with all these extra classes, and sessions with Remus and I, it's better to leave them for a while."

"Yes Professor." Harry said miserably, and watched Malfoy yak it up with his girlfriend.

Draco looked back at Hermione, "I'm Draco Malfoy."

Hermione suddenly looked embarrased, "Oh! Professor McGonagal told me about you."

Draco froze, wondering exactly how much Hermione was told about him.

"They said you are the boy who's going to be helping me around. Right?"

Draco relaxed, "Yes, that's me."


Madam Pomfrey came over to the two of them, "Miss Granger you may leave now. Mr. Malfoy will show you to your room. He will explain everything to you there."


Hermione smiled, "Alright."


Draco put out his hand, Hermione took it. She got up still a little wobbily form the accident she slipped. Draco caught her, she was in his arms.


Even though it was only a few seconds that moment felt like forever.

Harry groaned. He couldn't be with his girlfriend when she needed him the most. Stupid classes. Stupid extra lessons. Stupid Malfoy. That was the worst part of it for him. She was being taken care of by the biggest git in the school. Dejected, he followed Professor McGonagal to her classroom, where they would study together.

"Now, Potter, So far we've covered simple transfiguration to help you disguise necessary object, correct?"

"Yes Professor." Harry said, and tried to get Hermione out of his mind.

"Good. We're right on schedule. Now, the next thing you shall practice is Transfiguration of yourself. Do you understand?"

"Like, changing my self into a lamp, or a desk, or something?" Harry asked, hoping for the right answer.

"Right." She said smartly. "Watch." She waved her wand, and McGonagal wasn't there anymore. All there was on the floor in front of Harry was a water glass. Harry grinned, excited. Then, there was McGonagal again.

"Wow Professor!" Harry couldn't hold back his excitement. McGonagal smiled, a thin-lipped one, but a smile nevertheless.

"Thank you Potter. But it's hard work. You'll need to learn this skill, for the Dark Lord can make himself disappear at will, and you'll need all the knowledge you can get."

"Why can't I just do the disappearing trick, like Voldemort?" McGonagal hissed at his name.

"Potter! Don't blasphame! The Dark Lord has powers no wizard can contend with! I had hoped Remus would've covered that!"

"I'm sorry Professor." Harry apologized humbly. "I just want to learn, alright?"

"Alright Potter. Let's begin." The rest of the evening was spent learning and correcting Harry's technique.

Harry left the room three hours later, exhausted. He wanted to take Hermione for a walk, but remembered that Malfoy was supposed to be watching her. He sighed. That should have been his responsibility!

"Harry? Are you ok?" Ginny apeared out of nowhere. Harry jumped.

"Yea yea, I'm fine. No I'm not, Ginny, you got a minute?"

"Always Harry." They started walking.

"Well, I'm afraid Hermione will start to love Malfoy and not me. Cause I'm not allowed near them, you see? And now...with all these extra classes, prep sessions, I don't have time for anything."

"Well Harry, some people have to work their schedules around other people. Do you get where I'm going?"

Harry nodded. "No."

"Oh gosh. Harry, if Hermione wants to see you, she's going to have to pick a time where both of you can see each other, without any conflictions with schedules, get what I'm saying?"

Harry grasped her hand. Ginny felt her heart flutter.

"Ginny, you're making sense. Finally! Gin, you're the greatest!" Ginny blushed rosily. Harry didn't notice. Boys never do.

"Th-thanks Harry. Say, what are you doing right now?"

"Um...I was going to ask Hermione for a walk, but now...would you honor me with a stroll, Ginny?"

"It would be your pleasure." Ginny responded, and linked arms.

But what they didn't know, was that Hermione and Draco were also going for a walk...

Hermione and Draco were walking in the courtyard. Draco was showing her birds, trees, anything to help her memory. Slowly, she began to point things out, asking Draco to name them.

"Draco, you might as well know, I'm have a wonderful, confused time."

"Why are you confused, Hermione?" Draco loved saying her name. It was like water flowing down a waterfall, gently and swiftly.

"Well, I'm glad we're spending so much time together, but, still I wonder, what will happen when I get my memory back? Will we still be friends?"

Draco bowed his head. Hermione waited patiently. She had been told she lost her ememory, and Draco was there to help her regain it. Draco looked up, tears in his eyes.

"Hermione...it might not happen."

"But why?" She was alarmed at his tears, and hugged him. He held her fiercely.

"Because...because your boyfriend doesn't like me."

"What's a boyfriend? And who is he?" Hermione looked at him, nervous and more confused than ever. Boyfriend!

"A boyfriend is a special person that you love and cherish. One that you spend your time with, you hold him, talk to him, and kiss him."

Hermione kissed him. Out of nowhere, her lips were planted on his. He pressed his lips onto hers. They were soft and inviting, like he dreamed they would be. Her arms wrapped around him, and he took her in his arms. With disappointment from both sides, they broke apart.

"Like that?" Hermione asked. Draco nodded.

"Just like that." Hermione smiled, and they kept walking, this time, towards the Lake.

Harry and Ginny also steered towards the Lake, talking about Harry's fears.

Harry and Ginny were now holding hands, without even thinking about it. Well, Harry wasn't aware of it, but one look at Ginny's face gave her thoughts away.

"...so, do you think I should just...let her go?" Harry asked, appalled.

"NO! But you should let her know that you're her boyfriend. Just...not right away. Let her learn a few things first. Let her remember herself."

They sat down by the Lake. Harry looked around before sitting down. He saw...Hermione and Malfoy! His temper flared. He let go of Ginny's hand and rushed towards them. Ginny looked where he was going.

"Harry! NO!" She shrieked.

Hermione and Draco sat a few yards away, their arms around each other. Draco was in seventh heaven. Finally, he was with his beloved. and nothing-

"Harry! NO!" Draco heard a familiar voice cry out, and recognized it as little Weasley's voice. He looked, and there was Potter, rushing towards them.

"Hermione, MOVE!" Draco shoved Hermione out of Potter's path. SLAM! Potter crashed into him, a flurry of fists and a stream of verbal abuse.

Ginny came over and pulled Hermione to a safe area. "Hermione, stay with me."

"But who are you? And why is that boy beating up my boyfriend?" Hermione asked innocently. Ginny took in a deep breath. Harry wasn't going to like this, not at all.
