Imperius Me

“What happened?” Luna mumbled, she could vaguely remember a white light, but that was about it.
Hannah placed Luna onto the pile of leaves and shrugged. “I don’t know Luna but…”
“But what?”
“…but I think you almost died.”
Luna frowned, feeling the clotted blood at the back of her head. “Who did it?”
“Luna. You did.”
Luna shook her head. “Why would I do something like that?”
“I don’t know. You said something about wanting to sleep. Do you remember that?”
Luna nodded slowly. “Yes… I do, now I think about it, I do remember.”

Hannah raised her eyebrows slightly, she was interested in what Luna had done to herself that could cause her so much harm, and more importantly, Why?
“What do you remember?”
Luna frowned, trying to remember. “I was under the table over there.” She pointed to the old garden table. “Then I woke up and…” she trailed off, not wanting to tell Hannah that she was on the verge of using the imperius curse on her. “…and couldn’t get back to sleep. I tried but I couldn’t so I…”
“So you what?”
“I used the imperius curse on myself.”
Hannah’s eyes widened. “What? Why did you do that?”

Luna was pretty confused about that herself. She wondered how she could go from imperiusing Hannah to imperiusing herself. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“Yes you told me that.” Hannah snapped, loosing her patience.
“I just couldn’t sleep so I thought it would help me.”
“Ever heard of a sleeping spell?”
“Yeah I know but it wasn’t just that…”
“Well WHAT was it then?”
“I was going to imperius you! I was going to imperius you Hannah!! How can I do that? I RUIN EVERYTHING I HAVE! At least if I’m imperiused I wont hurt anybody. At least if I’m dead I wont hurt anybody.”
"So you tried to kill yourself?"
Luna shook her head madly. "No of course not. If i'm under the imperius curse I'm not going to hurt anyone, I will have control."
"But it doesn't work like that does it."
Luna shook her head sadly looking down at the floor. "No."

Hannah frowned, "But the bleeding head, the eyes, the drooling? How does an imperius curse cause all that?"
"I said the curse didn't do what I wanted it to, I didn't say it did nothing at all."
"So what DID it do?" Hannah asked.
"I don't exactly know, all I remember is pain."
"Can you not remember anything else?"
"NO!" Luna shouted jumping up. As she stood up so quickly she felt a woozy feeling overcome her and she lowered herself back down onto the floor.
"We need to get you looked at." Hannah stated.
"I will be fine."
"Luna you would say that if you had your head bitten off by a Dragon." Hannah raised her eyebrows and Luna sighed.
"How am I supposed to get this looked at?" she pointed to her head.
"And how do I know? Ask a miracle worker." Hannah groaned.
"Why are you all grumpy with me now?" Luna asked.
"Because I thought that it was serious, I thought you were DEAD!!..."
"...and because I'm not dead, you're upset..." Luna interrupted.
"Of course not, Im annoyed because you just don't care, I'm concerned about you and all you do is run around cursing yourself because you feel guilty for killing your dad. You're not trying to control yourself, you're trying to self-destruct!"
Luna gasped, she was outraged at Hannah's accusations. "I never said I feel guilt and I am not trying to self-destruct."
"No, but you do feel guilty, and you are."
Luna knew that deeply, Hannah was right. But Luna Moore, even after nearly dying, was a stubborn idiot who wouldn't admit that she was guilty.
"Just shut up Hannah."
"No. And anyway, Shut doesn't go up. Prices do."
Luna scowled and turned away from Hannah, she had the urge to stand up and storm off, but after trying to get to her feet and collapsing back down onto the floor in a heap, she decided she was stuck for now.

Hannah was mumbling to herself for a while after their argument and after at least an hour, Luna spoke.
"Hannah. I want you to imperius me." she stated simply.
Hannnah turned around her face a picture of shock. "What? You're just joking... right?"
"I'm not, If you imperius me, I won't be dangerous. I couldn't do it to myself... but you could, that way I won't hurt anyone else."
"Why are you so concerned about hurting others all of a sudden?"
Luna lowered her head. "I don't know." She looked up, staring into Hannah's pale blue eyes. Pleading silently with her. "So... Will you do it?"

A says... READ

One Day

"Luna I don't know about this." Hannah said uncertainly to Luna as they walked down a back alley. "Do you really trust me that much?"
Luna nodded enthusiastically, "Yes I do."
"Definately?"
Luna nodded.
"Sure?"
Luna nodded.
"Final ans..."
"Just do the damn spell!"
"Okay, okay, calm down." Hannah took a deep breath raising her wand to Luna's face. Luna stood stone still, she had thought everything out in her head, she would not fight it, she would not resist. She would simply allow Hannah to take control, it would only be for one day, if things went well, Luna was pondering about doing it more often. It was a big if though.
"Imperius!"

Luna felt herself going light, she was being taken over by something. Her immediate reaction was to try fight it, but once she gave a few seconds to compose herself, she simply let the mindless bliss take over. It was kind of fun, like a game of Simon says. Hannah says walk around in circles. Hannah says jump up and down. Hannah says bark like a dog. It was simple.

"What have you got for me now Remnic?" Corona asked, she was due to be going back home any minute, she wanted at least one wink of sleep in 48 hours, they had been up all day and night using old data of Luna's to figure out where she might be now. They had not got very far, narrowing it down to 10 places, but they couldn't cover all of them at once, they had to narrow it down further.
"I was thinking, the last time she was caught, it was a trick saying that her sister was in the ministry."
Corona nodded. "Yes, I had support from the Draken kid for that."
"Why couldn't we do it again?"
Corona frowned. "Are you mad? She won't fall for it again."
"But what if we get her sister to meet with her, face to face, Luna wouldn't suspect a thing once she saw her sister. They talk for a while then BAM! We jump in and arrest her."
"Its a decent enough idea, but are you really considering using Racheya as a spy?"
"It worked last time."
"But he was killed. I don't want to be risking any more children's lives."
"Are you sure about that?" He asked, a smile creeping onto his face.
"If we must then..." she trailed off. "...But no way would Racheya rat out her sister, even if the poor girl knows what the woman has done."
"Then we will have to find somebody else."

Luna and Hannah walked out of the town, both of their heads were low as they tried to avoid people spotting them. It had been a rather boring day for Hannah. Sure she had complete control of another living person, but there was none of the usual conversation. Even if it was the depressing rants about Azkaban, or the frantic mutterings of a lunatic, Luna was never boring to be around. Sure she was depressing, annoying, stubborn and uncaring, but life with Luna was interesting, Hannah missed that. It was quite fun being able to do what she wanted to her, at first she made her run around in circles, jump up and down and even bark like a dog. But the novelty quickly wore off.

As the dark set in, Hannah and Luna climbed a tree for safety. Hannah didn't know if it was just the imperius curse or Luna really was skilled at climbing. They settled down in the branches and Hannah took the spell off Luna.

Luna was slightly confused for a moment as to why she was up a tree, but then she smiled as she remembered what they had planned. "Did everything go well?" Luna asked.
"Well you're still here, take a guess." Hannah replied, "How did you feel?"
Luna smiled widely, "It was... nice. It was peacefull, calming."
"Do you remember much?"
Luna shrugged. "A little,"
"Maybe they should use the imperius curse down at St Mungos instead of calming draghts." Hannah joked.
"It would definately work. Can we do this again tomorrow?" Luna asked eagerly.
"I... I dont think so."
"Why?"
"Because it's boring, its like being alone."
"Like you know what being alone really is like." Luna hissed. "Try being in isolation for months on end, then you can tell me what it is to be alone."
Hannah sighed. "Everything has to be about you Luna doesn't it?"
"What do you mean?"
"Everything that I do, you have done better, you have experienced worse, your life is much more tragic than mine, you alone have been singled out by the ministry, you're the only one who has killed someone. Its not just about you Luna!" Hannah snapped.

Luna was shocked by Hannah's outburst, but her initial hurt turned to rage. "Well if you really feel like that then why don't you just leave me. Go call the ministry on me like Rodinth did!"
"There you go again! Poor little Luna. You're not the innocent little girl anymore, you need to grow up and realise that everyone can't be sorry for you."
"I don't want everyone to be sorry for me. I don't care."
"But you do! My father was SOO mean, I had to kill him..."
"Hannah. Shut up."
"No Luna, someone has to tell you and I wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't."
"I'm going." Luna hissed turning around on the spot and walking away. She half expected Hannah to follow her, shout something out to her or throw a spell her way. But Hannah did nothing. Luna walked a few steps then turned around to see the tired, fed up and slightly releived Hannah.
"Aren't you supposed to call be back, tell me I'm sorry?"
"Aren't you supposed to keep on walking?"
"I'm going to miss you Hannah." Luna said slowly as if the words were hard to get out.
"Me too." Hannah said softly.

Luna turned around and walked away from Hannah, tears were starting to fill in her eyes but she quickly wiped them away and left the town. She was on her own now.

Sorry its taking so long but i'm on part Hiatus while Script Frenzy is on. Expect chapters, but not as often as usual.

Crompton Lodges

Luna had been travelling on her own for the past few days. She had yet to acquire a wand but the time alone had given her a chance to think. She had been wrong to shout at Hannah. Hannah had only been looking out for her and telling her the truth. But Luna wouldn't go back and find her now, it would be too big of a confession if she went back. It meant that she believed what Hannah had told her, and even if she did, she wouldn't let Hannah know that.

The one thing Luna had found a problem was that Hannah had the wand, Luna had never managed to get one and Hannah hadn’t really told Luna how she had got the wand in the first place. She had travelled through city streets and busy shopping outlets to avoid being spotted. The good thing was that the ministry for some reason had not let it out to the muggle public that she was out, Luna wasn’t even sure if the wizarding public knew. It was ominous really, it meant that they were planning something, but Luna decided she would have to deal with it then, for now, being able to walk down a street without someone calling the police was good.

As she left the city the sun began to disappear away from the horizon. By the time she was at the edge of a large clump of woodland, the sun had completely gone and the only light that Luna had was from the moon. She quickly climbed up a tree to give her both a place to sleep, and a lookout. She had always been a good climber. On the days she had a chance, she used to leave her house and go down to Crompton Lodges. It was just a place where kids could go feed the ducks or go find out about the town history in Rock Hall. But if you delved a little deeper and followed some of the tracks through the park, there were plenty of places to climb and explore.

One of her favourite places was Red Rock. Red Rock was a fairly large rock formation. The rocks were a reddy colour, thus it had been imaginatively called Red Rock. She used to scale up the front and sit at the top, overlooking the river opposite. Luna would sit for hours, just watching people walk past and the occasional kid try to climb up but fail. On the times she was feeling a little more daring, she would climb across the side to where an old canal lay. She rarely ventured to the canal as it was tricky to get to since it had been abandoned. It was because of Crompton Lodges and Red Rock that she had become the agile climber she was now.

Luna stretched out on a branch and closed her eyes. As she tried to sleep, she wondered what she could do now. She definitely needed a wand. But the only way she could do that would be to go back into the wizarding world and that was a definite no. But as Luna tried to go back to sleep again, an idea popped into her mind.

“We have all the owls being intercepted, if your hunch is right, Luna should be contacting one of her friends at Hogwarts fairly soon.” Corona Powell told Remnic as they stood in the Atrium together. “But if your hunch is wrong, we’ve wasted all these resources for no reason at all.”
Remnic scowled. “When have I ever been wrong. And don’t answer that.” He added hastily. Corona gave him a withering look. “I just hope you’re right. For everyone’s sake.”

Luna gave a self satisfied smile as she finished her letter. It was the day after she had gotten her idea. It had taken her all the time to find a pen and paper to write the letter in the first place. She read it over to herself as she took residence in the same tree as the previous night.

Eliza. I first want to say how sorry I am that I lied to you. You have probably heard all the wicked things the Prophet has reported about me. They were right. You said that we would be friends no matter what I had done… no matter what I still have to do. But I really need your help. If you would meet me in Hogsmeade near Christmas I would be really grateful. Owl me back if you can meet.

Hush Hush

Eliza was tempted to wave Luna’s letter around and show everyone, but she realised that Luna was her friend, and if she told anyone that they were going to meet, word would likely get out to the ministry and their visit would but cut short be aurors. Eliza had been reading all the newspaper headlines about the disgraceful and sinister murders conducted by one of the youngest and deadliest mass murderers to date. She had not believed that Luna was sinister. Eliza did admit to herself that Luna had done those things, and they were wrong. But they were right in some ways, to her knowledge, Luna had been a good friend and did not go around killing people for no reason. Even if she did, Luna had helped her and Eliza would always remember that. So, deciding to keep it quiet, for now, Eliza hid the letter in her trunk at the end of her bed in the dorm and wrote a reply.

A week later, Luna received her reply. As the owl swooped down and Luna snatched the letter off the owl's leg, almost taking the owl with it. She slinked down into the shadows of a shop doorstep and read the letter.

Quote:

Of course I would like to meet with you Luna! I don't care what you did, you are still my friend. The Hogsmeade trip is the weekend two weeks before Christmas. I will meet you near the Hog's head at 12. If there is anything you need, anyone you want me to give a message to, I will help you. It’s going to be great to see you again! I'm looking forward to it. Forever your friend. Eliza.

Luna jumped up and span around with joy. She would be meeting Eliza in under three weeks! Luna had thought that she would never see Eliza again and now she would be sat talking to her face to face. She spent the rest of the day finding a pen and some paper and as she settled down in a dark alleyway to sleep, she wrote back to Eliza.

Quote:

Thank you so much. It's going to be great meeting you again and I'm looking forward to it too. I'm glad you still believe in me even when I do not. I hope that you are doing as well as I am, its nice being out of Azkaban. If you can find me a wand, that will be all I need. I've not had a wand for a while now and it's getting harder to live without one. If you can, tell my friends, if I still have any left at Hogwarts, that I'm sorry and I'm doing okay. But don't tell anyone about our meeting, if there is a chance that the ministry find out where I am, then I definitely won't be able to meet and it's such a shame. I really hope we can get together near Christmas, sorry I won't be able to get you a present this year. I know that you understand. *Luna*

Tying the letter to the owl that had brought Eliza's letter, Luna watched as the owl flew away to Hogwarts. A place that Luna sorely missed. She knew that even if she was not wanted, she would not be able to go back anyway, she was not only not wanted there, but too old. Luna had an urge to send a letter to Racheya, but the last time she had a letter from 'Racheya' she was rewarded with Azkaban, now she did not trust anything that came from Racheya, or was supposedly coming from Racheya. Luna slowly fell asleep with thoughts of Hogwarts and what her sister and Eliza must be doing there now.

Preparations

"This is wonderful Remnic! You always pull this off." Corona praised Remnic as she walked into his newly appointed office. His sucess with the letters had made him very popular in the department.
"Well I figured that Luna would want to get in contact with her friends sometime, over christmas in particular." Remnic replied as he looked over Eliza's latest reply to Luna.

Quote:

Luna, don't worry about it. I won't tell anybody. You know I can keep a secret and I hope you still trust me to meet you. It must be hard, I will bring you a wand. I will tell as many of your old friends as I can. You do still have friends here, I really wish you could come back. and I'm sure it must be nice being out of Azkaban. How did you escape anyway? The prophet hasn't actually reported about your latest breakout, that's interesting don't you think? Well I think so anyway. I'm going to get you a present for Christmas, not telling you what it is yet, it's a suprise! See you soon! Love Eliza.

"Look at that, Eliza is going to get Luna a present. I wonder what it will be." Remnic commented, smiling.
"You sound like you're talking about a TV show or something." Corona laughed.
"Well it might as well be, it's a fully blown drama. Luna is apologising for lying to Eliza, Eliza is trying to help Luna and then there is this secret present." Remnic said as he made a copy of the letter before folding it back carefully and tying it up to the same owl that they had intercepted. The letter was sent back off to Luna who had no idea that it had already been read and was currently being picked appart by ministry officials.

A day later Luna received Eliza's reply. Quickly reading through it she scribbled a reply.

I can't wait to see what the present is! I was actually wondering about that Prophet thing myself, I guess I'm not just being paranoid. I won't actually be near Hogwarts until the actual day, I don't want to be hanging around one place. But I will be nearby. It is good to be out of Azzie, I broke out with Hannah, I met her after my first break out. But the ministry set us up and we got arrested. I was put in Isolation and Hannah had to break me out, I was kind of not all there for a while. But I really am looking forward to seeing you again. I might stay around Hogsmeade if things go well. *Luna*

After finishing the letter, Luna sent it off with the owl and as she watched it fly away, she pulled her cloak tighter around her, it was certainly near Christmas, the weather was difficult for her. Before she left for her long journey, it took her a few days, but she managed to find herself a good deal of black cloth and with a rusted needle and a ball of black thread that she also found. It was amazing the things that people threw away.

She carefully spent days stitching herself a long, hooded, black cloak. It trailed slightly along the floor, but everywhere it fitted perfectly and as she slipped her arms into the sleeves and pulled her hood over her head, she felt as if she was living in luxury. She knew it was kind of pathetic, but it was the first real fitting, decent clothing she had since Azkaban. Now the black cloaked Luna set off on the long journey to Hogsmeade.

Prepare to die...

The Meeting

A black cloaked woman had been stood at the edge of Hogsmeade for the last hour or so, nobody had seen her around before, and her hood kept her hidden from the rest of the town. Eliza held a wrapped present in her gloved hands as she approached the Hog’s head. She couldn’t see Luna anywhere. Suddenly Luna jumped out from behind a wall and with one swoop had her hand over Eliza’s mouth and the other pinning Eliza’s hands to her body.

“What the hell are you doing Luna??” Eliza spat through Luna’s hand.
“You didn’t tell anyone did you?” Luna hissed.
“No!”
“You didn’t leave the letters around anywhere did you?”
“No!”
“You didn’t tell the ministry did you? Because if you did…”
Eliza managed to pull Luna’s hand away from her mouth. “Luna! It’s me! Do you really think I would do that?”
Luna stood thinking for a moment, before her stern face melted into a smile. Eliza’s did so too as Luna let go, only to be hugged by Eliza. Luna hugged her back. “I’ve missed you so much Eliza!” Luna exclaimed as tears fell freely from her eyes.
“You’re, you’re crying Luna.” Eliza said shocked.
Nodding slowly, Luna replied. “I know. I can cry now. Things were bad in Azkaban.”
“Oh Luna.” Eliza said as she pulled away from Luna. “I never thought that I would see you again.”

A few metres away, Corona and Remnic were stood behind a collection of bushes. Squads of ministry aurors were staked out on buildings, hidden in trees, everywhere a person could hide, an Auror was there.
“Oh this is sweet.” Corona sniggered.
“Don’t be so tight Corona, the girl’s been through a lot.”
“I forgot how connected you get to your targets.”
“Well it’s the way I work.”
“You can’t care for people like her.”
“Why not?”
“Come on Remnic, we don’t need this discussion now, keep your eyes on the prize.”
Rolling his eyes, he turned his attention back to Luna and Eliza.

Eliza handed Luna her present. Luna felt it in her hands, it was very light. She opened the wrapping paper and gasped. “Oh Eliza! Thank you SO much!” Luna exclaimed as she unfolded the invisibility cloak and a wand. She held the cloak up in front of her. “It’s wonderful! It’s perfect! Thank you so much Eliza!” she paused, confession time. “I’m so sorry I lied to you all last year, but I had to keep it a secret, I had to lie, if I didn’t I would still be in Azkaban now.”
“Shh Luna. Don’t worry about it, I understand.”
“You do?”
“Of course Luna! How can I blame you for not wanting to go back to that place?”
“I thought you would think I was a monster…”
“Don’t be so stupid Luna! You know I wouldn’t do that.”
Luna opened her mouth to apologise again but Eliza silenced her again.
”You better not be saying sorry.”
Luna smiled brightly.
“Anyway Luna, how are you doing?”
Luna shrugged. “Not too bad considering everything. What about you?”
Eliza looked slightly downcast for a moment. “Things have been pretty bad at home.”
Luna looked at Eliza worried. “Come on, tell me Eliza.”
”Well my parents kept me indoors, they used unforgivables on my almost every day…”
“That’s EVIL!” Luna interrupted angrily. “I swear, if they do anything like that to you again, you tell me and I will come down there and kill them myself.”
“Elijah and his family saved me from them this time.”
“That’s good to know, but if they ever do that again…”
“I guess it’s nice to know I have a crazy killer on my side.”
Luna laughed, “It’s nice to know I have anyone on my side.”
Eliza laughed too. “What do you want to do then?”
Luna looked around nervously for a second. “I’m going to go.”
Eliza‘s face suddenly looked downcast. “Aw, don’t Luna! I really wanted to talk to you! Actually see you.”
“I’m sorry Eliz, I really am, but I can’t risk being caught.” Luna said sadly as she turned to leave.

As she took a few steps away from Eliza she heard a shout of “NOW!” and a volley of red jets of light came hurtling towards her. Automatically she jumped backwards and grabbed hold of Eliza. With the wand Eliza gave her she pointed it threateningly at Eliza’s throat. Luna shouted as ministry wizards and witches began to surround her. “ONE MORE SHOT AND SHE DIES!”

Hostage Situation

Luna felt herself panic as she was encircled by wizards with her best friend at wand point. Where had she done this before? She didn’t want a repeat of last time, but she didn’t want to go to Azkaban either.
”If you fire one more spell at me. I will kill her.” Luna stated simply. Eliza wriggled trying to free herself from Luna, even though they were so close, Eliza knew that Luna would do whatever it took to survive, and if it meant killing one more person…
“Just put the wand down.” A voice echoed through the street.
“Yeah right… sure.” Luna muttered sarcastically.
“Luna just let me go!” Eliza mumbled.
“Sorry Eliza.”
“What do you mean, Sorry? SORRY?” Eliza shouted. “How can you be SORRY? Oh Sorry I killed you Eliza. You understand right?”
“Shut up Eliza!” Luna hissed her voice barely a whisper. She took Eliza’s head and turned it around inches so Eliza could see Luna’s face. And ever so subtly, Luna winked. Eliza’s face was suddenly washed with understanding as Luna jerked Eliza’s face back away again. The ministry didn’t know any better.

Corona was in deep discussion with Remnic.
“We can’t risk it.”
“What is one life compared to the hundreds we could save?”
“Come on Remnic, you don’t really think that.”
”Yes I do. You never even know, would she really kill her best friend?”
”She has done it before.”
“But can we risk letting her go?”
Corona shook her head slowly. “No. You’re right.”

Luna still had her wand at Eliza’s throat but she could feel the tension gone between them. Eliza was no longer scared of her, it was show time.
“I want you to give me free passage away from here and out of the country.” Luna shouted out to the aurors.
Remnic stepped out of the circle. “We can’t do that Luna.”
“Well I guess I’ll have to change your mind.” Luna hissed.
Very quietly Luna whispered to Eliza. “Scream.”
A red jet of light burst from Luna’s wand. Eliza knew exactly what Luna meant now as she screamed loudly and exactly as if she was under the crucio curse. She watched as the ministry auror’s faces turned from stern to shocked as they saw Eliza being ‘tortured’. Luna took the spell off and looked at Eliza. She was certainly playing the part well, as the girl ‘struggled to breathe’.

“Do I have to do it again?” Luna asked.
“No Luna.” Remnic replied slightly shaky.
“Then let me free.”
“You know I can’t do that.”
“Then you know what I have to do.”
“Luna. What are you doing?” Eliza hissed.
“AVADA-“
Luna was cut off buy the volley of stunning spells thrown at her from every direction. Using the invisibility cloak she disappeared and ran past the aurors before they could catch her. She didn’t have time to look back at Eliza as the girl was caught by the hail of stunning spells and fell to the floor.
