| No room at the inn
It had taken Luna an hour to find the Leaky Cauldron as she wasn’t used to navigating around muggle London and she had only ever to the pub by the Knight bus or another form of magical transportation.
Rubbing her eyes she squared her shoulders and slowly opened the door into the magical world.
The Leaky Cauldron was dimly lit but busy. Glad of the cover of darkness, Luna walked over to the bar slowly, not drawing any attention to herself. Leaning over the bar she looked at the barman. He was old but moved around behind It quickly as he served the customers.
“Can I get a room here?” she asked her arm twitching slightly.
He nodded and took out a book from behind the bar and dropped it on the wooden surface of the bar.
“Yes you can, how many days?” he asked.
Luna hesitated; she wasn’t quite sure having not thought it out quite that far. The barman looked up at her as she hesitated. His eyes narrowed. Luna had changed a little from the pictures that had been published. Her hair was longer, her skin was paler and her face was worn but under that was the 16 year old girl that was smiling out from the daily prophet for days.
Luna just thought of a number off the top of her head. Surely if she needed to stay longer she could. “Um…14 nights please.” She murmured nervously as she saw a few people giving her sideways glances.
“Okay…and what is your name.”
“Luna Moore.” The words had slipped out of her mouth before she realised it. She began biting her finger; maybe he wouldn’t think anything of it. Though she knew it was a lie, it had been splashed all over the papers; nobody could hide away from the news.
The barman eyed her suspiciously, repeating her name. “Luna Moore?”
Luna couldn’t do anything else but nod.
A few people had heard the name and were nearing Luna and the barman, wondering why they were talking about the murderer that hadn’t been mentioned for about a year. The barman looked Luna up and down.
She certainly looked the part. Her torn clothes and scraggy hair certainly made her look like someone who would jump you in a dark alley.
“The Luna Moore?” he asked again, emphasising the. Luna felt her hands trembling, people were listening in. This was the first time she had come face to face with the public since she was accused and the word hadn’t spread that she was innocent yet, the ministry didn’t seem to want to say they had messed up and imprisoned an innocent young girl.
She tried to act dumb. “What do you mean… the Luna Moore?”
“You know Luna Moore… the murderer.” He was emphasising his words and it made her uneasy.
“I’m not a murderer.” She said simply, still trying to pretend she didn’t know what was going on.
A crowd of people had now gathered around them and were talking animatedly whilst others were trying to shut their friends up so they could listen in to Luna.
“You’re her aint ya!” came a cocky voice from the crowd.
Sticking to her story she shook her head, “I'm who?” she said looking around to see if she could spot the person who had called out.
“You're Luna Moore. You killed your dad dincha!” Came the same voice, he seemed to be speaking the thoughts of the crowd as they murmured their appreciation.
Frustrated, Luna raised her voice. “I didn’t kill my father!” she said desperately. Luna could feel the tension of the crowd, there was nowhere for her to go, she was surrounded.
“Yeah right.”
“You're supposed to be in Azkaban!”
“Locked up!”
“I should tell the ministry!”
“She's escaped! Look at her clothes.”
“and her hair.”
“She's dangerous.”
Voices shouted out from the crowd, they were pressing in on her. Everyone with a look of revulsion, hate or fear on their face. To them she was an escaped murderer who deserved to be locked back up in Azkaban for all eternity.
“I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!” She screeched as her mind flashed back to her trial. She had shouted those same words to the wizarding population before and it hadn’t done any good, she would be damned if it would do any good now.
“She's probably here to kill us like she did her dad.”
“Twisted she is.”
The comments whirled around in her mind. Trying to ignore them she took a deep breath and said as calmly as her shaky voice would allow her.
“I just want a room.”
A wizard pushed his way forwards through the crowd and sneered at Luna.
“I know where you’ve got a room…” his face broke into a cruel smile. “…in Azkaban.”
The crowd laughed and jeered at Luna but she had had enough. She tried to push her way through the crowd and out of the door. Once she was out into muggle London she would be safe as it was going to get for her but the crowd wasn’t making it easy. Each time she tried to get passed they pushed her back into the middle of the circle they had formed around her.
She wanted to whip out her wand and blast herself a path through but her wand was lying in pieces in a dump now and there was no way she was going to get her trusty wand back. After trying multiple times to force her way out she managed to barge a path through and she sprinted out of the door with the crowd following her.
As she ran at top speed the wind stung her eyes and made them water, that’s what was in her eyes, not tears. |

| yeah I know >.<
This is the shortest chapter so far but, it's needed. Captaincy
Skulking down a back alley, only a few streets away from the Leaky Cauldron, Luna sighed. It had taken her a few minutes to get away from the angry mob that had followed her out of the pub and into London.
Sighing, she sat down on the hard floor and looked around her, wondering if this was any better than Azkaban.
Around her lay empty packets of crisp and cans, broken bottles were strewn across the dirty concrete, shards of their glass digging into her thighs.
She blinked as looking up, she saw a large shape swooping towards her. This time instead of thinking it was a ministry wizard, she recognised the shape as an owl as it glided down to her level where it dropped a letter onto her thin arms and perched on the discarded remnants of what looked to Luna like an old chair that someone had sat on and broke.
She took the letter from her arm. It was quite thick and as she turned the letter around, her heart leapt as she saw the Hogwarts crest. Suddenly feeling an unease in her stomach as she slipped off the seal and threw it to the floor. Ripping open the letter she unfolded a first piece of parchment. Quote: |

Luna looked down at her feet. Nestled there were two pieces of parchment and a now dirty, shining green badge.
She grinned, chuckling to herself, hardly believing what she had read. They were making her quidditch captain? She was completely shocked but she couldn’t shake the niggling feeling off that they had only given her the position because they felt sorry for her, not because her talent as a keeper.
She picked up the captain badge that lay in the dust and dirt. Brushing it off, she looked into the deep green of the Slytherin crest. She could see the shining silver snake that encircled the green crest.
Slipping it into her pocket she looked around the alley for useful materials that could be used as a disguise. She could not let her house down.

| Diagon Deception
Stepping out from the back alley Luna was pleased. She had managed to disguise herself very basically by darkening her hair and face with some dirt and tying her hair up into a ponytail with a rubber band she saw on the street.
She looked a lot worse than she did before but now it was less likely someone would connect her to the 16 year old murderer’s face they had seen in the papers a year ago.
Walking briskly down the road she came across the Leaky Cauldron again and taking a deep breath, she stepped inside.
It was the same as it was before but this time she quickly scooted around the people. Keeping her head low and eyes averted, she managed to reach the back of the pub where the back door opened out into the tiny yard that lead to Diagon Alley without anyone realising she was there.
As she walked up to the brick wall she automatically reached into her pockets for her wand but she was stumped. Luna had never been into Diagon Alley without a wand before. Her father had begrudgingly brought her here in her first year for a new wand but after that she had to go on her own. She had a wand then though and now, without one, Luna was stuck.
There had to be some way for magical people who didn’t yet have a wand or who had lost theirs to get in. She looked down at her dirt covered hand and had an idea. Tapping a finger on each of the bricks required to open the gateway to Diagon Alley, she watched as the bricks split apart, revealing the bustling shop lined street.
Keeping her face hidden she merged herself into the crowd where she could be just another shopper purchasing books for Hogwarts but as she peered into her pockets she saw the bare minimum amount of money that the ministry could throw her out with. There wasn’t enough money there for all the stuff she needed, let alone a broom too! She couldn’t go to Hogwarts as quidditch captain without a decent broom.
Walking over to the quality quidditch supplies store, she saw the old Firebolt 500 display that had been there a year ago. Looking now was a new broom. The Firebolt DX90. Luna gazed at it hungrily knowing there wasn’t near enough money for her to buy the broom. With the few galleons she had in her hand she entered the shop. ***
15 minutes later Luna walked out of the shop, the money in her hand almost gone and her shoulder sporting a brand new broom.
It wasn’t quite what she had wanted, the trusty Firebolt 500 was still sold at the shop and she had managed to pick up a bargain on her favourite broom.
She was still downhearted though. There were only 2 gold galleons in her pocket left and there wasn’t much chance she could buy some new or even old robes, school books and other necessities with such a small amount of money.
Gazing into the show window of Madame Malkin’s robes for all occasions, she saw that a lot of the customers were trying on the different robes then discarding them at the side if they were too small or too big. A large grin spread across Luna’s face as an idea hatched into her mind. ***
Madame Malkin didn’t really pay much attention when another customer walked into the shop, she did notice however, that this girl seemed a lot more scruffier than the rest of the Hogwarts students and unlike many of the others, as far as she could tell the girl wasn’t with any adult.
Dismissing this she got back to work fitting the robes of a second year Slytherin girl.
She thought she had it just right however when the child’s mother insisted the arms were too small. Madame Malkin frowned slightly as she was pretty sure that the arms were perfectly fine, but remembering the old motto that ‘The customer is always right’ She threw the robes to the side of the girl and pulled out a new set slightly larger than the ones she had just discarded.
She didn’t even notice until she had finished the girl’s new robes and she had gone to clean up; the robes that the mother had said were too small had gone. She was puzzled as to where they had gotten to, robes simply didn’t disappear, that was unless they were invisibility cloaks. Then out of the corner of her eye she noticed the trailing edge of a Slytherin’s Hogwarts robes flick out of the door. Hurrying over to the window she just managed to see a glimpse of the scruffy girl’s head with new black and green robes draped over her shoulder, merge into the crowd. |

| Now here come the parts that actually happen in the school RP so peoples charries will be up here Sorry if I change little bits in the order of storytelling, but the idea is the same Locomotive Secrets
Luna smiled as she stepped onto platform 9 ¾ She was finally going to Hogwarts after weeks of sleeping outside in the stifling summer sun and the cool summer nights she was ready to lie down on a bed for the first time in a year.
Taking a deep breath she walked onto the Hogwarts express. Dumping her small bag with her few possessions in the luggage carriage she walked through the front of the train to the back. She wanted to be alone. The last thing she wanted was for pupils around Hogwarts to recognise her for being ‘the murderer’ and seeing ‘the face of a killer’. She still shivered at what those headlines had said. Luna did not depict the face of a killer and she certainly was not a murderer, but like the people in the Leaky Cauldron had shown her. The wizarding world disagreed.
Luna sighed as she stood in the middle of the train. She wasn’t sure about sitting down in a compartment in case anybody wanted to sit down next to her.
Used to doing nothing from all her time in Azkaban, she leant against the outside of a compartment, quickly glancing into it she moved away before they saw her.
She smiled, it had become a game to her. Sweeping around, looking in others carriages then ducking out of the way before they became aware of her presence.
She was ducking out of the way of the sight of a boy leaning against the window when she bumped into someone.
Her immediate feeling was to run away but she saw a flash of green on the girls robes before she ran. This was a Slytherin. She looked up at the girls face and her jaw dropped.
"Sarah!!" She exclaimed half annoyed she had been caught but half happy she was seeing her friend again. Sarah was wearing her Slytherin robes that were draped with her long black hair. She had been a second year when Luna had left, it made her think about how long she had been out of touch.
Sarah looked up, she hadn’t been paying attention to where she was going and hadn’t even seen Luna until she shouter her name.
“Hey Luna, how have you been?” She asked
Luna smiled. Sarah had either not noticed Luna sneaking around or she just didn’t mention it. Either way she was grateful
"I’ve been okay... you know a little of this a little of that. Been down to London." She said vaguely underplaying her cryptic remark about London.
Sarah nodded and said "Yeah I have been rather a bit of the same but, Hey you looking forward to getting back to the school and to classes and everything?"
Luna felt weird. Had this girl been reading the papers? Then it dawned on her that if she was a parent, she wouldn’t want to let her daughter read an article like what had been published about Luna. She didn’t know!
Luna raised her eyebrows slightly, "Yeah sort of... I’m looking forward to quidditch most." She said smiling and pointing to her shiny badge. "Been made quidditch captain!"
"Yeah cool I am going to try out this term because I love playing quidditch, I’m quite a good chaser you know."
Luna nodded. "Yeah I remember, I’ve lost contact with a few people over the last year I’ve been out of school." Luna scowled at herself that she was slipping up but she was soothed by the fact that it would hopefully go unnoticed, she needed to learn some discipline on not giving herself away. The less she spoke about the last year, the better.
Luna laughed out of joy that it had gone unnoticed. She was enjoying this conversation more than she expected to and it didn’t need much work for her to make it interesting... well to her at least.
"I just want to get down to the quidditch pitch. I seriously can’t wait!" She said laughing.
Sarah smiled "Yeah same with me I have not been on my broom all summer long"
Luna nodded. "I haven’t either for..."
She paused. How could she say she hadn’t been on a broom because her father had set it on fire in front of her and she had been in Azkaban?
"...various reasons." she said slightly unconvincingly.
Sarah ignored the comment and smiled "So I just can’t wait to see the rest of my friends because some of them I have not seen for a while"
Luna raised her eyebrows. "Like me?" she said in a sceptical way, she decided it was safe to muse out loud slightly. If she could handle questions from the ministry then she could from a Slytherin girl.
"I’ve been away for a full 2 years and nobody has even wondered where I am?" she asked her voice getting louder.
"Wow where have you been all this time? I met your little sister last year" Sarah frowned slightly puzzled.
Luna’s arm twitched as Sarah casually mentioned Racheya to her.
She could roll her eyes but didn’t, this girl was being to dense for her. She wanted to roll them but she didn’t need any more enemies, she had enough of them down at the ministry.
"Well..." She paused... this wasn’t quite as easy as she remembered. She hadn’t talked to many people for a long time.
Luna took a deep breath out, she would tell the truth, she couldn’t keep it a secret for long, not everyone would have been blind to the papers and once they knew she was back at Hogwarts, the rumours were bound to spread quickly.
"I... I’ve been..." she paused. "I’ve been in Azkaban okay!" She said quickly turning around and walking down the corridor. The truth was out. So much for manipulation.
Sarah was shocked. Her face was stunned. Her friend Luna had been to Azkaban?
"Listen Luna I will not say a word to anybody but… Why were you in Azkaban? if you do not mind me asking" She spoke cautiously, slightly nervous of Luna.
Luna turned around slowly. Could she trust Sarah? She had trusted her before but all trust had brought her was hate... she didn’t want more but she frowned. She was being a coward. Hiding from her past. Why should she deny it?
She slowly walked back to Sarah.
"Two years ago I ran away from my father. He hated me with a passion and I couldn’t stand it. A year later I finally come home to find the ministry at my doorstep. My father had been killed." she paused.
"I didn’t care. He had hated me so much but as soon as I turned up the ministry arrested me for killing him. Apparently he had told the ministry I had attacked him and ran away and when he was killed, the next day I turn up after a year of being away. The circumstances were against me. Even my wand said that the last curse I used was Advara Kedavra. I was arrested and within a few days sent packing to Azkaban."
She paused and allowed herself to shiver... fighting back tears she continued.
"I was there for a whole year Sarah. A whole year until they received some… evidence of my innocence and I was released.” She said lowering her head almost with shame.
Sarah spoke slowly. "That is awful Luna and to tell you the truth I really hate my father but I’m leaving to stay with a friend at the end of the term cause I have had a very rough summer.” She broke off. “But I would never kill my father even though I never want to see him again" Sarah hugged Luna and thought about all the stuff her father had put her through.
Luna jumped back slightly from Sarah’s touch and even though she hadn’t been crying her voice was croaky and every few seconds she had to sniff up. "Sarah. Please. Don’t tell anyone, at least not until I’m ready. One day I will be ready to tell everyone, but not today. Not now.”
Sarah nodded, “Of course Luna, I will not tell anybody. It will stay a deep secret until you are ready.”
Luna nodded. "Thank you." she said with a weak smile. Suddenly she span around... there was nobody in the corridor with them, her face was full of alarm as she realised how stupid she had been. "In a corridor!" she whispered to herself as she stealthily checked each of the compartment windows in their corridor for spying eyes and listening ears.
Once she was happy they were alone she could relax.
"I...I...don’t really know what to talk about." she said smiling weakly. "Quidditch suddenly seems so mundane."
"To be honest I do not know what to talk about either" Replied Sarah.
Luna was feeling tired. The weight on her shoulders was finally starting to ease but she couldn’t relax. All she knew is that she was tired and needed to sleep.
She pointed towards one of the compartments that had been empty when she had looked around and opened the door. She lead Sarah in and lay down on one side of the compartment.
"I'm going to sleep for a while... You can go if you like. I need to. Rest."
Following Luna in she sat down opposite her and leant against the window.
"I will just sit and watch the countryside go by. You have a sleep, you need it Luna"
"Okay Sarah." She said letting her head lie limp on the seat she closed her eyes and felt herself drifting off. She could let go for a while... let herself dream the day away. |

| Feast
Luna slowly walked down to the Slytherin table for the sorting feast, trying to avoid suspicion. If she hurried less people would see her but more would notice her.
She managed to find a space on the already crowded table and looked around nervously.
Realising she was acting as nervous as she felt she tried to settle down and enjoy the feast. But how could she do that when her biggest secret had just been released into the open?
Luna jumped as Pauline, a Slytherin she had known before Azkaban sat down next to her.
“Hey Luna, nice train ride?”
Luna froze. "Nice...train...ride...” She mumbled her voice barely a whisper... What did Pauline know? Did Sarah tell her? She better not have! What if she has? Oh no! The thoughts flooded through her mind but her head cleared enough for Luna to reply a stuttered. "It was okay... you?"
Pauline laughed "It was really good," She said. "Got some info from someone," She said and raised her eyebrows as if Luna knew what she was talking about.
Luna's breath caught in her throat and her eyes widened, she suddenly noticed that it was getting hotter in the hall, a lot hotter. She looked around the table, her hand twitching.
INFORMATION!! her mind screamed, she was surprised nobody could hear her mind screeching out for help.
What kind of information? Was it about her? Someone else? Had she talked to Sarah? SHE HAD talked to Sarah! Just wait till I see Sarah! It’s her fault... she stopped. No. Its MY fault she thought suddenly realising she had been staring into space for a few minutes, her eyes wide and sweat rolling down her forehead. She probably looked a right mess on the outside, just like she was on the inside.
"What...kind...of information?" Luna spluttered... barely able to put a sentence together.
Pauline spoke slowly and certainly, as though every word she said was thought out carefully. "Oh just something that is very... um what’s the word for it... interesting," She said and smiled.
Luna could have screamed but she had suddenly had a sense that she had to focus and keep her mind straight. If she started acting suspicious and everyone knows they might well send her back... the words ‘Put her back where she belong’ rung in her ears. She pondered where she had heard them before.
"Interesting? Now what might that be?" she asked. Her natural manipulation powers taking over her paranoia, she would now allow herself to be back thrown back into Azkaban
"You know what I'm talking about, Only one other person knows besides you," She said. Her eyes were boring into Luna’s skull. She could feel Pauline slowly sucking out the truth she already knew from her.
Luna wanted to scream it to the world. It was impossible to keep the secret any longer, Pauline obviously knew, that meant that Sarah told her. Luna swore in her head multiple times before composing herself. There were still small doubts in her head that maybe she was talking about something totally different but there was about zero chance of that.
Luna sighed, resigned to the fate that everyone in the school would soon know that the lovely Luna Moore, keeper extraordinaire, Quidditch captain, had been in Azkaban. The controversy haunted her. What would happen to her?
"Um... can we talk about it um... later? I’ll talk in the common room."
"Oh ok sure," She said nodding. "Well got to go meet other people. Bye"
Luna nodded weakly. "Okay." She muttered, she suddenly felt sick.
She didn’t know if it was the food, the atmosphere or the fact that her entire school life was about to fall down around her and all she could do was watch. She had seen her home life do that once and she wasn’t ready to give up the last thing she had.
Finally alone she started into her plate and hoped people would leave her be... she needed time to think, to concentrate, to plan. ***
Luna lifted her tired head from the table quickly. She thought she had heard Pauline's voice. She blinked. Pauline had gone. Had she fallen asleep? She shook her head. It was either that or she was going crazy, and the crazy wasn’t exactly a long shot.
Now she was alert she decided to take a sip of pumpkin juice and look around her. As long as nobody else knew, she was safe. Wasn’t she?
Luna froze as Sarah walked confidently over to her. She hadn’t seen Sarah since the train and she was getting freaked out, everyone seemed to know. She might as well shout out to the sky that she had been in Azkaban and watch the sky fall as her misdeeds dragged the heavens down to hell as her words damned her.
"Its all in your head." she whispered. "Um...hey Sarah." she said croakily. She just wanted the day to end.
Getting her voice back she began to speak confidently.
“You told Pauline! She knows!”
Sarah shook her head "I have not seen Pauline for ages and I have not said a word about it. To anyone.”
Luna shook her head. "You must have! I’m sure she knows! She said she got some good information on the train! It was about me I knew it! You told her!"
"I have not told her how could I have? I’ve not seen Pauline since last term and I am not really on speaking terms with Pauline anyway" Sarah was telling the truth but she could tell that Luna did not believe her.
Luna whispered the words of a famous muggle TV character. "Everybody lies." she was still angry with Sarah; she had given away her deepest secret and was now denying it! She began to feel nervous again. If Sarah was lying it meant she didn’t have a reason for telling which meant she wanted to tell. If she wanted to tell, she could tell anyone.
Luna looked into Sarah's eyes, then her mouth. Then finally she looked down at her shoes.
She had remembered something that the same guy who had said 'Everybody lies' said. 'The eyes can lie, the smile can mislead, but the shoes always tell the truth' though Luna hadn’t quite learnt the art of shoe reading.
She stared at Sarah. How many times had she wished she knew legillimency before now? She almost felt like she could reach into Sarah's mind and tell that she was lying to her. Everybody she had ever known lied and cheated her. Sighing she took a sip of her drink and looked around the table. Everyone along this very same table would know soon enough, the thought haunted her.
Luna felt a pang of guilt when she looked at Sarah's pained face. She felt guilty. A part of her was shouting. 'She should feel guilty!' She tried to ignore it but it grew larger and louder. She felt her stomach lurch and she was close to throwing up.
She felt a wave of nausea pass over her. She lowered her head to the table. "Urgh. I feel sick again." she said her eyes drooping. "I think I’m going to just rest a while."
Laying her head down on the table again she watched as Sarah nodded and left her alone, a small feeling of triumph grew inside her. She was going to say sorry to Sarah but she had managed to hold herself back. Luna Moore says sorry to nobody for nothing. |

| Waiting News
Luna walked slowly into the waiting room clutching her stomach. The feast had just ended and she had headed straight down to the hospital wing before even going into the common room. If she was going to face Pauline, she would need to be feeling a lot better than she already did. Her stomach lurched as Luna thought that she was going to be sick but she managed to avoid making a huge mess all over and settled down in a chair.
She noticed a fellow Slytherin girl sat on a chair across from her. The girl had long, dark, wavy hair and sparkling blue eyes. She had creamy white skin and had a curvy figure that put Luna’s thin body, pasty white skin and Messy red brown hair to shame.
The girl smiled at Luna who glanced away for a second but Luna couldn’t smile back.
“Oh! You're Slytherin Quidditch Captain, aren't you?"
Luna would have smiled but her stomach made it hard.
"Yeah," she muttered, "You’ve already signed up haven’t you?" she asked.
"I saw your name on the application forms. Cora, right?”
Cora smiled weakly and nodded, wincing in pain as her wrist was now swelling slightly. "Oh yes. Quidditch is great.”
Luna nodded, "Yeah it is..."
“It's my favourite thing to do. My brother, Ryan, he used to play for Puddldemere United but then he went to Azka....then he had to quit." She said quickly
Luna froze. The Cora was about to say Azkaban. Luna could tell. Thinking back she had seen him there on her first day in the fortress. She shivered as she thought about Azkaban. What could she say? Oh yeah I saw your brother there I was locked up in a cell near his! She shook her head as her arm made a small twitch.
Cora looked at Luna with wide eyes. "Were you....did you....you?" She stuttered. "You were in....you were in...Azkaban?" She asked, looking more closely at Luna. She thought about it for a moment, Luna did look ill and her hair looked like it hadn’t been brushed for years.
Luna gasped, she couldn’t hide it. Cora had proof. Her hand twitched over her pocket where her new wand sat waiting.
One spell She thought, her hand closing over the wand. One spell and everything will stay a secret.
She shook her head furiously and stood up, letting go of her wand. What was she thinking?
"I...I...im feeling better. I should go." she said moving towards the waiting room door.
Luna was about to walk out but Cora grabbed onto Luna's hand quickly before she could leave. She looked up at her with deep, meaningful eyes.
"I won't tell. I swear. And to make sure, why don't I just tell you why Ryan is in there? It's because..."
She breathed deeply. "..It's because he killed my dad and now he's trying to kill me. Okay? So if you tell my secret. I’ll tell yours. And vice versa. Deal?"
Luna shook slightly as she mentioned Azkaban but was shocked then she told her that Ryan was going to kill her. She was going to sit back down but she couldn't, she was scared that her hand would clutch her wand again and this time she couldn’t stop herself.
She nodded. "Listen, I will tell you but..." She looked around nervously. "I cant here. Too open." she said her eyes darting around the room.
"If you come to the girls dorm later. I will tell you there." she said before turning around and running off, her stomach was still queasy.
"Ok..." Cora whispered glancing at Luna. "I swear. I won't tell a soul. I know what it's like to hold a secret. I've held one my whole life." And then she watched Luna run away.
Luna ran as fast as she could out of the waiting room. Cora knew and she couldn’t figure how this first year had figured out her biggest secret. If a first year could do it then what could stop a fellow seventh year?
Running blindly through the corridors, unsure of where exactly she was going she reached the underground common room of Slytherin house.
Muttering the password to the portrait, without even looking around the common room she ran up into the girls dorms before anyone could stop her. |

Luna ran up into the girls’ dormitories before anybody could pull her back. She was scared she would hear the voice again. She had not heard it for a long time, since she had attacked the muggles it had gone quiet. It had been appeased by her misery in Azkaban but now she was getting back to Hogwarts, having small glimpses of happiness it had woken up, thirsty for blood.
She rammed back the emerald green curtains around her bed and without even taking a second to enjoy the sensation of being in a bed again she dived under the covers and curled into a ball.
Lay under the duvet of her bed, Luna couldn’t help but wonder why she had wanted to attack the girl? She had done nothing wrong, just discovered a secret that Luna was realising to not be much of a secret any more.
Luna froze as she felt someone come closer. She could almost hear the curtain shouting out to her that somebody was there. The back of her neck prickled and she looked around under the covers nervously.
Then she heard a soft voice out of the silence, it was Neva
“Luna, its Neva. Are you okay hun?” she asked, clearly concerned.
Forcing back tears in her eyes, Luna decided to tell her, it wouldn’t make a difference, Neva would be finding out anyway, and it would be better for Luna of she told Neva herself.
"No I’m not okay." she muttered coming out from under her covers.
She saw Neva perched nervously on the end of her bed. Luna hated the way everyone around her seemed to look like they were supermodels compared to herself. Neva had long shining black hair and soft olive skin. She had beautiful hazel eyes that bore into Luna as she tried to figure out what was wrong.
Neva spoke sympathetically but unsure of what was wrong with her friend Luna. She had not seen her for two years. “What happened?”
Luna stared into space for a moment. What could she say? She simply closed her eyes and started to speak.
"Last year… least year… I was arrested and I… I… I have been locked up in Azkaban." she said, holding back tears again, she dived back under the covers. She might as well just shout it to the world. Everyone would know soon enough.
Neva’s eyes widened as Luna spoke. It was unbelievable that a girl who grew skittish about breaking simple school rules could do something that would be Azkaban worthy. "Erm...what happened to have you shipped off to Azkaban?" she asked, trying to keep her voice level.
Luna spoke quietly out from the covers; she had to hide the shame. It hadn't been her fault but after a few days in the rumour factory the story no doubt would include a team of Aurors all being killed by Luna and her army of evil.
"It wasn't my fault!" she said whimpering, "He was always bullying me, forcing me to do everything he wanted, I ran away! I didn’t kill him! It wasn't me!" she said getting angry. "The stupid ministry couldn’t even realise that It wouldn’t be me! It couldn’t."
Her voice became a whisper.
"I'm not a murderer. I'm not a murderer. He's the murderer, It wasn't my fault. It was his. His."
"Who is he?" Neva asked; a little confused. She had picked up that there had been a murder but through Luna’s hurried whispers she couldn’t get the whole story.
Him. Him. The words sped through her mind.
"He is..." she paused, "was my father. Liraes Moore, ex death eater. He spent time in Azkaban too." she cast her mind back to the day she ran away. That day she had swore she would never become like him. Keep her nose clean. She broke her promise.
"I guess...like father like daughter." she muttered emerging slowly from under the covers.
Neva put a protective arm around Luna and pulled her close to her.
"Sweetie. Listen to me. If you are as innocent as you claim to be, which I don't doubt for a second, then you are nothing like your father. If he was a Death Eater...he was Scum. Plain and simple. You are not scum. You are a sweet, lovely girl who would never hurt another so needlessly" she spoke softly, trying to soothe Luna and herself at the same time.
Luna felt a little guilty as Neva pulled her close, she pulled away a little, still nervous of touching people. “Thank you Neva.”
Neva smiled. “It’s not a problem, really. Telling the truth is simple, making that person believe it is another thing completely.”
"Yeah I guess, but what will happen when everyone finds out? What will people think of me? Rumours are stronger than the truth." she said her voice wobbly, her father spread rumours of her around the ministry, if he hadn't then they probably wouldn’t have jumped on her straight away as the murderer.
Neva looked thoughtful for a minute before she spoke. "Well I, and your other friends, will help to refute those rumours. Don't worry about it. Granted, We may make ourselves look foolish in the process. But that's nothing compared to being painted as a murderer with no proof."
Luna sat staring for a moment, thinking. "No." she said simply. "I can't let you all look like idiots at my expense. I shall tell everyone tomorrow, if they don't believe it then it’s my problem." she couldn't let them put all their trust in her. She didn’t trust herself let alone anybody else. How could she ask people to trust in someone who had just been brought back from Azkaban? Rodinth had done that and Luna had only thrown him away, she didn’t want to have to do the same to the only people she had left. Luna Moore didn’t need help; she wouldn’t let everyone help her like she was some charity case that deserved their pity.
"I'm sorry. But I really shouldn't stay, I have... Things to do." she mumbled, standing up.
She left the dorm quickly before Neva could pull her back and try to talk her round more. |

| Tehehe I think someone is going to like this one Voices Again
Luna paced around the long, unending hallways of Hogwarts castle. The long stone corridors made Luna a wonderful place to escape, even if it was just until she came across more students.
Looking up she frowned. There was a girl chasing around after a cat. Luna had always hated animals and chasing after them like a caveman looked primitive.
The girl gave up and began tapping her feet loudly on the stone floor as she watched the cat run around her legs.
Luna’s head hurt from the tapping, couldn’t the girl just shut up?
Her hand automatically grabbed hold of her wand in her pocket
No! She thought, letting herself drop the wand back down into the folds of the fabric.
The girl continued to tap her feet, it was giving Luna a headache.
“Do you mind?” she asked annoyed.
A smirk swept onto the girl’s face as she answered cheekily "No, I kind of don’t!” she said, clicking her shoes purposely.
Luna's hand twitched over her wand as the girl gave her cheek.
Blast her! Came a voice from her head. Go on. She disrespected you.
Luna shook her head. She was doing that a lot lately, she was surprised people hadn’t noticed.
The girl’s blood red eyes shot towards Luna and she frowned.” I’m Eliza; sorry the shoes always do that!"
Luna put her hand out to Eliza, her hand twitched a little. "I'm Luna." she said before looking down at her hand. "Oh, sorry, the han | |
