Default Kin for Kin - R

This is the Sequel to Just in Case.

I've only read up to book five and I honestly don't know what will happen in the future with JK's Characters but I have assumed some things for this fic.
They are:
1. Voldemort was defeated/destroyed... but is not necessarily dead.
2. Harry Lived.
3. Harry is married and has three children
4. Harry named those children after his parents and people he loved.

Also, it is about eleven years, give or take, since Voldemort was destroyed and people are happier/have let their guards down a little.

Once again I own none of JK's Characters, only my own and it is doubtful that they could survive outside of a Harry Potter Fan Fiction.

Here's the first story post.
---------------------------------
Tom Marvolo Slyddle woke up to his mother’s insistent calling, “Get Up! You don’t want to be late for the train! It’s your third year at Hogwarts remember!”
Tom rolled over and looked at the time; 8 a.m. The train leaves at eleven. Crazy old Bat. “I’m coming mother!” he shouted pulling himself out of bed and into the shower. For crying out loud, she’d never bloody let me forget it if I was late the year the Potter’s firstborn came into school. Tom was silently cursing his mother all the while he was soaping himself up. Why the bloody **** can’t she leave me alone for a minute. If I hear the word ‘destiny’ one more time I swear I’ll scream.
He got out of the shower and stood in front of the full length mirror with a towel around his waist. He looked at himself pinching the little bit of baby fat that remained. Puberty had been kind to Tom Slyddle. The previous year he had made his house Quidditch team as a seeker and the girls, older and younger, had started to show some interest. Over the summer his voice had dropped and he had managed to get a tan… hiding out from his mother on the roof. Compared to the other thirteen year olds he knew he was in way better shape physically, and mentally. Tom had a great body from practicing Quidditch, although he couldn’t use the real balls in the summer time because his fool of a mother had placed them close to a muggle village, and he wasn’t awkward talking with girls. On the contrary, he loved the way they all paid attention to him, even the muggle girls from the village, although his mother would have killed him if she saw him hanging out with any of them.
Tom had dark black hair that he kept, unconsciously, the exact same length as his father’s in that picture his mother was always showing him. It always had a wind swept look though, ever since he joined Quidditch, because even when he wasn’t playing he would ruffle his hair so it looked like he had. He had discovered that, by doing this, he got even more attention from the girls at school.
“Are you bloody well ready yet?!” His mother screamed up the stairs.
Tom jerked his head up and sighed. “Give me a minute to get dressed!”
He slowly pulled on some Muggle clothing. I wonder what embarrassing outfit mum will have on today.
Eliza Slyddle had the annoying habit of wearing the strangest clothing when she dropped her son off at the train for school. It wasn’t her fault really, she hated muggles and wasn’t about to learn enough about their culture so that she could blend in for a single day. Still it embarrassed Tom to no end, he had learned at least the bare minimum so he didn’t look like a fool if he had to go into the Muggle village for something. His clothing was always appropriate and people didn’t stare at him when he was on his way to London to catch the train… they stared at his mother. He had long ago given up on telling her the right way to dress in muggle clothing though… the last time he tried his mother called him a ‘muggle-lover’ and locked him in a closet for a week. Perhaps I’ll stay at school for Christmas Holiday. He pulled on his socks and slowly descended the stairs, dreading seeing his mother.

Here's story post #2.
Enjoy.
----------------------------------
“What took you so long?” Eliza asked as she saw her only son trudge down the stairs.
Tom mumbled something about having to shower and sunk into a chair, grabbing a piece of toast and munching on it.
“I would think you’d be a little more excited about going to school this year,” His mother lectured him. “After all, this is your third year and the year the Potter’s first born enters into Hogwarts.”
“Are you sure she got her letter?” Tom interrupted, “She could be a Squib you know.”
Eliza looked huffily at her son, “Of course I’m sure she got her letter. I’m not an idiot. I do check these things out.” She was glaring slightly at her son but then a calmed expression came on her face and she continued, “As I was saying, Lily Potter is most likely the Apple of her Daddy’s eye. It is your job to poison that apple. Destroy her if not kill her. Remember, Tom, this man destroyed your father… he’s the reason you can’t use your real last name… he’s the reason we have to live a lie… Kin for Kin, Tom, he took one of ours, now we take one of his…”
His mother kept talking but he stopped listening, he just nodded and said “That’s right.” or “Yeah” whenever it was required.
After a while he looked at the time 10 a.m. “Shouldn’t we start for London now mother?”
He had caught her in mid sentence, “What? Oh! Right! Don’t want to be late! Grab your trunk.”
They took a taxi into London, Tom handled the transaction, and to the Train Station where he would catch his train. Maybe when I’m older she’ll let me go alone.
Eliza’s outfit was actually fairly Muggle-ish and she wouldn’t have stood out at all if it weren’t for her sticking her nose up at every modern convenience of the Non-magic world. (“Imagine! Not using magic! I’d Die!”) People once again stared at them as they made there way towards platform 9 and ¾. Tom had to remind his mother to wait until there were no muggles watching before she went through. (“Bloody inconvenience, I say!”) He rolled his eyes when she finally stepped through and followed after her.
Tom spotted some fellow Slytherins and was about to make his way over to them when his mother stopped him. “Look,” She pointed to a family with three children, one looking about four years old, one he guessed at nine and, the eldest, he assumed to be eleven. “Those are the Potters. That oldest one must be Lily… I bet she’ll be put in Gryffindor.”
Tom looked at the spunky, red haired, eleven year old and smirked. “No problem, mum, I’ll look out for little Lily. Make sure no one else hurts her.” Tom walked off in the direction of his friends, leaving his mother to gaze at the happy Potter family.

Tom is a little mixed up... he has his mother's brainwashing but he has some ideas of his own. He thinks his mom is nuts.

Eliza convinced herself that Voldie is not so bad. After all, he had similar values to the ones she grew up with. She began to identify with him.

Look below.

Authors note: I'm not entirely sure that 13 year old boys would talk this way but I think my classmates were about that age when the topics came up, just another way to "talk tough", and these 13 year old boys are Slytherins and it is in the future (if you go on the HP timeline this would be about 2010) so I figured that it's about right. Sorry if the dialog offends anybody.

Some bad language

---------------------
“Look at that,” Jeremy Flint, one of Tom’s friends, said looking at the Potter family, “The famous Harry Potter’s Daughter has finally come to Hogwarts… five gold galleons says she’s a sl*ut by her third year.”
“One says she gives head before she finished her first year,” His brother, Alexander, added.
“That’s just sick.” Tom interjected, half-heartedly, “She’s only eleven.” She doesn’t look eleven though Tom was staring at his sworn enemy and wishing he’d been born into any other family.
Jeremy flashed his hand across Toms face, “So you in? Five says she’s a sl*ut by third?”
Tom finally looked away from the vision of loveliness and smirked. “That’s too easy, she’s got Hogwarts Hore written all over her. I’m not even gonna bet on that.”
Jeremy looked around at all the other Slytherins that had gathered there but there were no takers on his bet so he let it drop.

It was getting close to eleven so the students started boarding the train. Since his first year Tom had been accustomed to riding in a car all by himself. It’s not that he was normally antisocial, it’s just that he liked the first few hours completely away from his mother to be spent in peace. He settles back into the car and opened a book on curses.
He was leafing through it when the door to his car slid gently open. “What the hell do you wan…t” he sort of faltered when he saw the red-headed eleven year old he had been admiring earlier. He smirked.
She looked at him nervously, “H…hi. I’m sorry but… there’s nowhere to sit.”
Might as well play nice. “Well, I’m reading, so don’t bother me, but you can sit over there.” Tom indicated the far end of the bench opposite him. He went back to reading, making sure she could see the title of his book.

------------------------------------
“What are you reading?” Lily Potter asked, after staring at the title for less than a minute.
Tom pretended to be annoyed with the question but smiled behind his book. “Creative Curses for beginners and intermediates… It’s rather boring, actually, once you’ve read through it a few times.” Tom let the book fall beside him on the train bench. “So, what do you like to read?” He asked looking at her.
She blushed at his stare. “Well, my parents barely let me read anything about magic until I got my letter… they didn’t want me to be ahead of the other students or something.” She blushed again.
Tom gave her a winning smile. “Well, you can’t get much from books anyhow… the real knowledge comes from practicing. Have you tried any magic yet?”
She looked beside him on the bench before answering. “No… have you tried the things in there?” She asked pointing at the book.
Tom glanced at it, “Of course, I can do all of them… Between you and me, they’re not very creative… or dangerous.” He once again smiled and this time she smiled back. “Why don’t you try out some magic… it’s not that hard.”
She looked hesitant so he slid onto the seat next to her. “Come on… You have a wand right?”
She nodded and pulled it out.
“Okay, then, I want you to hold it firmly… make a swishing motion like this,” He demonstrated, she followed suite, “good. And then I want you to say…”
“What on earth is going on in here!” A loud voice boomed as the door to the car slid open. In the frame was a rather large Slytherin Prefect.
Tom slid back away from the girl who was now cowering in her corner. “I was just teaching her a bit of magic.” Tom said calmly.
“Yeah I’m sure you were,” The prefect said suggestively, “Did I interrupt something?” He let out a bark of a laugh and continued on down the train.
Tom not-so-silently cursed as he slid the door back shut.
Lily slowly relaxed her position. “I bet he’s in Slytherin.”
“He is.”
“I’ve heard they’re horrible.”
“We are.”
“You’re in Slytherin?”
“Yes.” Tom picked up his book again, this was going to be a long ride.

Short post. Enjoy
(P.S. I'll post the next part tomorrow)
---------------------------------
The rest of the trip was taken in silence. It, unfortunately, wasn’t the peaceful silence that Tom was used to on the way to school. Every time he looked up from his book, there she was, staring at him.
It seemed as though she didn’t know what to think of him. He had been making a good impression on her, he was sure of it, and then she had found out he was in Slytherin. A house she had heard was ‘horrible’.
He tried to ignore her but he could feel her watching him, studying him, all the way to school. He hated that feeling.
Just before suppertime they pulled into Hogsmeade. They had changed into their robes before then and Tom could see that she seemed a little disappointed that he wasn’t kidding. He was in Slytherin.
They departed the train together. “You’ll have to go that way, the first years take boats” Tom said helpfully, pointing Lily towards where the other first years were starting to gather. Lily said “Oh.” and moved in that direction.
Tom stared after her for awhile and then climbed into one of the horseless carriages that would take him to school.
“So, what do think of her? Still think she’s still got ‘Hogwarts Hore’ written all over her?” Jeremy Flint asked once they were on their way.
“Who? Lily Potter?” Tom asked absentmindedly, “Yeah… first time away from daddy… she’ll crack.”
Tom looked out the window imagining all the ways he’d like to see her crack. Potter’s already got her against Slytherins… This won’t be easy, but I’ll make him pay…

Okay, okay, you talked me into it.

-----------
The first week of school was fairly uneventful for Tom. He kept a close eye on Lilly Potter who was, predictably, sorted into Gryffindor Her dad would probably have a fit if she got in anywhere else. and she seemed happy in her new house. Of course, being the daughter of the ‘Famous Harry Potter’ had to have helped her popularity there.
No matter what anyone said… who your parents are is important. Tom had a real problem there. No one had ever heard of Tom Slyddle Sr. except from Tom’s mother and her friend Draco Malfoy. No one doubted his existence because Mr. Malfoy claimed to know him but no one else had ever even met him. It made sense though. Tom Slyddle Sr. wasn’t from England, where Tom and his mother now resided; he didn’t ever go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in fact, Tom Slyddle Sr. didn’t actually exist. He wasn’t even real. Tom sometimes wished that he could tell people who his father really was… watch them cower in fear. But as much he’d love to see the look on their faces if they heard that he was the only son of Lord Voldemort, heir of Salazar Slytherin, and that he already knows the Avada Kadavra and has tried it on small animals… he valued his life. He knew, like his insane mother, that Harry Potter wouldn’t stand for it. He had heard of Potter’s attack on the last of the Death Eaters, Draco Malfoy barely escaping that, and knew for certain he would ‘knock off’ the Dark Lord’s Heir if there was any indication that he was up to something. Imagine, Potter out there…protecting the world from evil… while he’s just sent his little lamb to be dinner for the Big Bad Wolf.
Tom had just spotted Lily as he was coming out of his Muggle Studies class. She was talking to some fellow Gryffindor girls and Tom felt it was time to reintroduce himself to the short red head.
“Lily… isn’t it?” He asked walking up to the group of giggling girls. “I’m Tom, remember we met on the train?”
“You’re in Slytherin.” A snobby brunette replied, scrunching her nose at him.
“Very astute.” He looked down at her with obvious superiority.
The brunette bared her teeth at him… like a dog.
“Lily.” Tom said again and turned away, walking down the hall a little and rounding the corner.
Lily, despite warnings from her friends, followed after Tom. When they were around the corner Tom stopped and looked back at her. “Oh, hello.”
“Where are you going?” Lily asked.
“Would you like to see? I’d like to show you something Lily Potter.” Tom arched his eyebrows and then continued walking.
Lily obediently followed after him.
Tom smiled, This is going to be too easy. and started to ascend the stairs to the second floor.

...And Myrtle makes a cameo appearance.
--------------------------------------
Tom and Lily entered the all but abandoned bathroom.
“What are we doing here?” Lily’s voice echoed off the walls.
“Shhh” Tom motioned her to keep her voice down… But it was too late.
“Who’s there?” a pouty voice asked. A moment later a mournful ghost came into view. Her pig tails swinging slightly as she floated towards them.
“Oh! Hello, Tom.” She brightened at the sight of him.
“Hello, Myrtle.” Tom said, protectively pulling Lily behind him.
“Oh!” The ghost almost gasped, “And who’s this?” She said in a mournful voice spying Lily.
“This is Lily,” Tom said gently, “I’m going to show her the Chamber.”
Moaning Myrtle looked like she’d been punched in the stomach. “Oh, well then… don’t let me keep you.” She almost screamed the last few words in hysteria then plunged herself into a nearby toilet.
Tom turned back to Lily, “She’s a little sensitive.”
Lily seemed unperturbed by the ghost’s actions but was a little worried by what Tom had said. “Chamber? What chamber exactly?” She asked backing away from him.
Tom cursed, then rolled his eyes. “Here, I’ll show you.” He walked over to a sink and spoke to the faucet.
Lily’s eyes opened wide when she recognized the sounds he was making. “You’re a parselmouth.”
Tom looked back at her. “Yeah, so was my dad.” He said, telling the first true thing he ever had about his father to anyone, “Come here,” He reached out his hand to her as the sink started to disappear into the floor revealing the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Lily allowed herself to be pulled to him as she gazed down the gaping hole. “Is that the Chamber of Secrets?” she asked in awe.
“Yeah, but don’t worry, your dad killed the basilisk, it’s perfectly safe now.” Tom walked to the edge of the hole and slipped his feet over the side so he was sitting down. He looked over at Lily. “Are you coming then?”
Lily looked like she was fighting a battle. She, no doubt, wanted to see where her father once destroyed a fifty foot snake and saved a girl named Ginny but was unsure about going into a hidden chamber with a boy she hardly knew. A Slytherin Boy she hardly knew. “Shouldn’t we go get lunch?” Lily asked uncertainly.
“We’ll be back in plenty of time. I just want to give you a quick tour.” With that Tom hopped off the ledge and slid down to the chamber below. He didn’t have to wait long before Lily joined him at the bottom.

I'm too lazy to look up the Chamber Scene in the Book so this is written with the movie version in mind.
Enjoy.
--------------------------
“Wow…” Lily looked around the tidy chamber.
“Yeah, well, come on.” Tom held out his hand to her once more and moved along the tunnel to the door to the main Chamber.
“Why’s it so clean?” Lily asked, she was sure it’d be much dirtier than this.
“I’ve been cleaning it up since I found it first year.” Tom explained as they kept walking. “Really rough work, there were all sorts of animal skeletons, a huge snake skin, and the basilisk. Potter… er your Dad didn’t bother cleaning it up, he just left it there.”
“Well, he had enough on his plate already, what with saving Ginny and all that. How did you expect him to ‘clean up’ a fifty foot snake anyway? I’m guessing ‘Scourgify’ doesn’t work.” Lily was glaring slightly at Tom. He dared to criticize her father.
“Yeah, well, it’s all cleaned up now.” Tom and Lily now stood in front of the door to the main Chamber, holding hands. Tom spoke some words and the door opened to reveal the chamber beyond.
“Whoa.” Lily gasped. Tom could understand why. With out the Basilisk’s foul rotting odor the chamber was a fantastic sight indeed… for those not frightened of snakes. Huge statues of Serpents lined the wall and at the front of the room was the awesome statue of Salazar Slytherin himself.
Lily let go of his hand and moved almost silently up to the front of the Chamber. The only sound for a while was her small foot steps as they hit the ground. Tom stared at her retreating body and then started, slowly, after her.
When he reached the head of the Chamber she was already kneeling beside a dark stain. “Yeah… I couldn’t get that out.” Tom said looking at it.
“What is it?” Lily asked, looking up at him.
Tom looked away and clenched his jaw, and then looked back at her. “It’s where… your father… defeated Tom Riddle. Put a basilisk fang through the book that would bring him back.”
“Wow…” Lily ran her hand over the spot, looking down at it. She appeared to not have noticed Tom’s tone of voice as he spoke of the event.
Tom had always wished that Harry hadn’t figured out how to defeat Tom Riddle. He wished that he could talk to the younger version of his father and find out what went on in his head. He already felt that he was more Tom Riddle’s son than Lord Voldemort’s. His mother had always shown him a picture of Riddle and said ‘this is your father, Tom’. He was even named after this Tom Riddle, this man his mother never actually met, her eventual goal was that he would take the Riddle name again once he had defeated Potter. Tom wanted more than anything to have a name, any name, of a person who actually existed, not the name of his fake father who wasn’t even real.
Tom was glad Lily was looking down because a look of fury at all the injustices he had to endure slipped over his face before he could stop it.
He fought for control of his face and finally won. “Come on then, we better go if we want to get any lunch.” He reached for her hand again and Lily reluctantly took it.
Tom almost felt bad taking her away from the Chamber but he had to get her out of there before he lost his temper and did something stupid.
They reached small room they first arrived in and Lily looked up. “How will we get back to the castle?” She asked, apparently the thought hadn’t occurred to her previously.
Tom brushed back a piece of cloth and revealed a rope ladder. “Built this in first year… used to use a broom to get down and up…but you try explaining why you have a broom in your hand and you’re only a first year… Of course, couldn’t have helped that I stole the broom.” He let a devilish grin play on his face as he said the last phrase.
She tried to look at him disapprovingly but ended up sharing his smile in the end.
“It’s best if you go up first, that way I can catch you if you slip, I’ve been up a hundred times.” Probably more. Tom watched as Lily started to ascend to Myrtle’s bathroom and then followed behind.
They reached the top and Tom spoke the words to put the sink in place and then they rushed off to the Great Hall to get some food before their next class.
