The next morning, Draco came down to breakfast late. As he looked around, he sighed and punched the wall. No Crabbe and Goyle. Their parents had taken them out of school. He sat down next to McLinnon and grabbed a bagel.

"So....what's going down?" McLinnon asked. Draco sighed.

"McLinnon....Dave.....I'm afraid I'm going to need you alot this year."

"Really? How so?"

"Well, you're the only one who knows about Hermione and me, and..."

"You want her back, right?"Draco spat out the orange juice he was drinking. Dave laughed.

"How...how..." Draco spluttered.

"I know these things." He looked at his schedule, then Draco's. "C'mon, we've got Herbology next."

As they walked, Draco began to like Dave more and more. But then...

"DRACIKINS!" Draco heard a squeal, and soon Pansy was all over him. Dave dragged her off. She dusted herself off and clung to Draco. He looked to Dave for help. Dave rolled his eyes.

"Parkinson....go away."

"....and I missed you so much Dracikins, and.....what?"

"I said get lost. Go on, beat it. Scram."

Pansy looked at Draco.

"Honey, what does he mean-"

"He just said what I was thinking. Go on. Take a walk Parkinson. We're through."

Pansy's eyes welled with tears. She shoved Draco away and ran towards the castle, bawling. Draco and Dave exchanged hi fives.

"One down....." Draco started.

"One left to conquer!" Dave said, grinning.

Hermione and Harry were hard at work, trying to fit their Head Boy and Girl duties into their school schedules. But they still managed to spend alittle time to themselves, sitting in front of their personal fireplace in their own personal Common Room. Hermione snuggled closer to Harry one evening, exhausted.

"Harry?"

"Hmm?"

"What are we going to do about-"

"PLease 'Mione, no more talk about our duties. Please?" Hermione sighed and Harry kissed her. "Now there's only me and you....no duties."

Hedwig flew into the window and landed on Harry's head. She stuck out her leg, looking awfully proud of herself. Harry sighed.

"Well, almost only me and you....what is it now Hedwig?" He took the letter off her leg and read it. His eyes widened and Hermione read over his hand.

Harry,

Normally I wouldn't be writing to you, but now I must ask you for help. Your uncle has been suffering for quite some time, and I fear he has been cursed. I believe this only because there is no other explaination. Please come home right away.

Petunia

Hermione looked at Harry. Harry's expression was one of slight indifference.

"....ill.....I don't believe it....why would they need me?"

"Because you're a wizard Harry. And you can help him if he has been cursed." Hermione reminded him.

"But what about you? How are you going to manage?" Harry asked her.

"You think I can't handle myself? McGonagal is probably going to find a replacement Head Boy for you until you get back-"

Another owl flew in. Hedwig looked at it coldly, as if offended by it's presence. The owl ignored Hedwig and stuck it's leg out. Harry grabbed that letter as well.

Dear Harry,

I can't tell you where I am, only that it's very cold up here. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, and what I have to tell you may only worsen your mood. But your uncle might not be ill at all. The Dark Lord could be trying to trick you. I'll leave you to your own decision, but you now know my opinion.

But enough about that. I believe I might have found another Horcrux up here. This is the place where Godric Gryffindor is thought to have been last, and many of his possessions are up here. I noticed a warmth in the air as I entered this place, and one of the objects was pulsing lightly. I haven't touched it, but I urge you to follow your hunt up here.

Please meet me at your uncles old hideout.

Remus

Harry's face was lined with worry.

"What should I do Hermione? My uncle or my duty?"

"Family comes first Harry. Heal your uncle and then meet Remus. But remember what he said Harry? About your uncle?"

"Yes I do." Harry paced in front of the fireplace. Hermione looked on worriedly. Harry had so much to do! Finally, he stopped. "I'm going to Remus. I'm going to send my uncle a bezore with instructions. I'm also going to send him a spell that will cure almost anything."

Harry-"

"Stop Hermione. I know what your going to say. And I can't allow you to follow me. You're needed here."

"But-"

"No buts 'Mione. Please?"

Hermione said nothing, but stared into the fire. Harry came and placed his hands on her shoulders. Hermione held them.

"Please...hurry back?"

"I'll do what I can, Love." They sat that way for awhile, staring into the flames.

Whew! That felt good!

Hermione sent Harry off to meet Remus. As she walked back to the castle, she felt...empty. She so wanted to help Harry on his hunt. But she was stuck at the school....just her and-

"Miss Granger!" Hermione turned to see the Headmistress, McGonagal, headed towards her.

"Hello Professor." Hermione waited for her to catch her breath. McGonagal heaved for a few minutes, then regained her composure.

"Miss Granger, I am to understand that Mr. Potter shall be leaving us."

"How did you know?"

"Remus told me. Now, I have....er...managed to find a replacement Head Boy. I met him coming off the Quiddich field. And he struck me as a...well, a changed person."

"Who is it Professor?" Hermione asked, curious.

"I shan't say another word. He's in your Common Room. Do be nice to him. I know you two haven't got along so well in the past. But you're grown=up now, and should be able to put a few childhood squabbles in the past."

"Professor, WHO?"

"Mustn't say, good luck Hermione. There are a few more things I need to take care of. It appears that Professor Sprout has conjured up another set of deadly bowtruckles."

"Bowtruckles?"

"Yes...it appears that whenever someone touches them, they explode. Don't know how she managed that..." McGonagal wandered off, muttering to herself. Hermione shrugged her shoulders.

"Whatever." Hermione walked back to her Common Room, still wondering about the new Head Boy. She opened the door to find...DRACO MALFOY??

Draco jumped ten feet in the air when Hermione shrieked. He got pretty scared himself, until he saw who it was. He was just sitting there, reading the paper.

"Oh, hello Granger." Draco said, rustling his papers. Hermione's face went bright red.

"What on earth are YOU doing here?" Hermione had never been so mad.

"Well, it just so happens, McGonagal asked me to be Head Boy...at least until Potter comes back. So we're bunkies!" Draco grinned.

"Oh no you don't!" Hermione marched over to him and hauled him out of the chair. "You're going back to the Slytherin Common Room. I'd rather have Moaning Myrtle!"

"Aw babe, you don't mean that!" Draco protested as Hermione thrusted him out into the hallway.

"Yes I do! And don't call be 'Babe'!" Hermione yelled, and closed the door. Draco sighed.

"I guess I'm sleeping out here tonight."

Hermione gasped for air. Never had she been so mad. Or nervous. What was McGonagal thinking? Draco Malfoy....it was unbelievable!

"What could she have been on?" Hermione muttered to herself. She glared at the door and gave it a kick. Then she unlocked it.

"He might wanna come inside.....after all, he's the new Head Boy...." Hermione spat on the ground, then felt tears spring to her eyes.

Draco Malfoy.....the one boy she had been trying to forget....had found a way back to her....and into her heart again.

I love writing fight scenes!

Draco slept outside the Common Room for about four hours until the door opened. Hermione came into the hallway. Draco woke up at her step, and pretended to be asleep.

"Draco?" Draco pretended to snore. Hermione sighed. "Draco, get up."

"How did you know?" Draco asked.

"I know a fake snore from a real snore."

"Well....your just smart, that's all." Draco sat up, his coat falling from his chest. "What do you want?"

"I...I...just wanted to apologize. You can come in now." Draco raised an eyebrow. "Seriously. I just got...tense."

"If being tense means you throw people out doors, I'd hate to see you when your mad." Draco teased. Hermione flushed.

"Stop it! It was just...you being there, after...all that happened....it hurt me. I just got to thinking about what I went through, and-"

"Wait, what YOU went through?" Draco was angry. "HOW DO YOU THINK I FELT? HOW I STILL FEEL! After crying forever, trying to forget the love of my life, then finding myself bunking with you! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH PAIN I WENT THROUGH!" He turned away. "You don't know what pain is."

Hermione started to cry. Draco kept his glare, until she came over to him.

Hermione started to cry after Draco had his outburst. She coudn't help it. Draco was being unfair. Did he think she felt nothing? She went over to him.

"Draco....look at me." He faced her, the hurt look still there, but confusion had replaced anger.

"What Hermione?"

"I...I felt pain too. I still feel pain. And I still feel it...here." She pointed to her heart. "I still feel love...for you."

Draco put his arms around her and kissed her. And Hermione allowed it. She took his hands and led him inside the Common Room. He came willingly. Draco and Hermione sat on the couch, looking into the flames, as she had done with Harry. And she felt nothing wrong with that.
