A week had gone by, and Hermione and Lamark had grown used to the hectic schedule of raising a baby. Hermione was staying at home and taking care of Bella, while Lamark went to work. However, sometimes there were instances when they went out.

"Hermione, how about going to dinner?" Lamark said, after coming home from work.

"Dinner, what about the baby?" Hermione gestured to the bedroom. She had just settled into her evening nap.

"We can either take her with us, hire a baby-sitter, or-and I like this one-use magic to take care of her?" Lamark laughed, and kissed Hermione on the top of her head.

"But Bella's our responsibility! What if something happens?" Hermione asked nervously.

"Hermione, let's just take her with us. Put a Sleeping Charm on her, so she doesn't wake up, and we can go out to eat like regular people." Lamark suggested. "I can't remember the last time we-"

"Alright, you win!" Hermione threw her hands up in the air. "I'll get the baby...and my wand."

Lamark smiled as he watched his wife tidy everything up. He walked into the coat room, and got his and her coats. He sat in the living room, and thought of restaurants that Hermione would like to go to.

Tara had dragged Draco all over the hotel grounds. One week later, she declared themselves ready for Italy.

"I thought we were in Italy." Draco groaned as she got out the site maps.

"Silly! Real Italy! Rome, Venice, Milan, even Sicily! Don't you want to see what was considered the Island of the Sun-People?" Tara insisted.

"The island of what?" Draco asked stupidly.

"In Greek Mythology, Helios, the Sun-God, had his own seperate island for his own race of people. Sicily was considered that island! Doesn't that sound the least bit interesting?" Tara tossed a bunch of pamphlets at him. "Here, look at stuff."

"Why do I put up with this?" Draco grumbled.

"Because you love me." Tara declared, and continued pressing through the packets.

"Oh yeah."

Hermione had Bella asleep in no time, and Lamark had picked a nice little Italian restaurant a few blocks away. They wrapped up themselves and the baby, and set out.

"Lamark, you were right, I can't remember the last time we stepped out." Hermione remarked as they were seated. Bella yawned quietly, and Hermione gave her a loving look.

"You know, it feels like she's ours, doesn't it?" Lamark asked, and took Hermione's hand.

"Yea...I can't wait until we have one of our own." Hermione patted her stomach.

"How much longer?"

"About three months." Her stomach was starting to become more prominant. Lamark smiled.

"I love you."

"Me too, now let's eat." Hermione picked up her menu and looked at it eagerly. "I love eating out! No dishes."

"Are you ready?" Tara asked impatiently. Draco groaned.

"You can't possibly expect us to do the whole of Southern Italy in one week? It's impossible, even for wizards." Draco seemed determined to ruin Tara's fun.

"But we're apparating!" Doesn't that appeal to you?" Tara said slyly. Draco frowned and shook his head, folding his arms.

Tara rolled her eyes. Suddenly, she was struck with inspiration.

"OK Draco....don't come."

"What?"

"Don't come. I'll go...by myself...who knows, maybe some time I'll go to a restaurant, and there will be with hot Italian waiter. And he'll pour my water just right, and we'll start talking, and I'll fall hopelessly in love with him. And then we can run away and live together. And then after a few years-"

"Alright, alright, I'm going!" Draco clasped his hands on his head. Tara smirked and walked over to him.

"You weren't really considering staying here for three weeks, were you?"

"No..." Draco admitted, and kissed his wife. "Now let's go."

"That's just what I had in mind." Draco offered Tara his arm, and they left the hotel.

Chapter 6

Hermione sat in Tara’s rocking chair, softly rocking as she fed Isabella a bottle. She looked down at the baby, whose eyes kept changing from Draco’s gray eye color to Tara’s brown eye color in a matter of seconds. It was if her eyes were deciding which color to keep. It would probably be best to keep Draco’s color so that Isabella could look like she was somewhat Draco’s daughter. Because other than the eye color, the baby shared no common physical features with Draco. She, like Tara, had perfectly tan skin, heavy, think black eye lashes, brown eyebrows and a head full of dark chocolate brown hair. Her nose, lips and even eye shape took the same form as Tara’s. Isabella was Tara’s miniature, except for when her eyes were gray like Draco’s. And of course Draco only had pale white skin, platinum blonde hair, thick blonde eyebrows and eyelashes, a pointed chin and slightly sloped nose.

Isabella looked nothing like her father.

Hermione felt her own baby kick inside of her stomach and it made her smile. Each day, she became closer and closer to finally being the mother she had always dreamed of becoming. It made her smile even more.

Bored and alone due to Lamark being at work, Hermione decided to take Isabella out for a walk. Winter was in full storm, Christmas inching closer and close each day. So Hermione wrapped the baby up in her tiny baby jacket and a couple of blankets. She then pulled on her own thick jacket and stepped outside, a soft wind blowing her hair back a little. For it to be winter, the day wasn’t as cold as usual. Hermione quickly apparated to a large muggle park she had often visited as a young child. She walked around, seeing children chase each other, couples walking and holding hands, and many others out ice skating on the large frozen lake. She smiled, slightly remembering what it had been like to go there as a child.

After walking around the park several times, Hermione walked across the street and over to the long strip of muggle stores ahead of her. She walked past each one, brightly lit with lights and displays for Christmas. She often stopped and let Isabella look at the lights, a small smile playing on the baby’s lips as she let out soft coo’s. Hermione giggled down at the baby, holding her closer. They came to the end, where a large fountain was frozen. Around it was a large, brightly lit Christmas tree. Hermione walked over to it, enjoying the strong fragrance that came from it. She sighed and looked up at the brilliantly shining star at the top and smiled even wider. Her favorite time of the year was finally here.

“And where are we now?,” Draco asked, looking around as he was apparated to somewhere else with Tara.

“Milan. This is where I was born,” Tara said, smiling.

“Oh…what a sacred place…,” Draco joked.

“Shut up,” Tara spat, rolling her eyes.

“This place really is sacred. It gave me you. And without you…I would be single…childless…and probably located somewhere that I was familiar with,” Draco said.

“Well aren’t you happy I was born,” Tara joked.

“More than you will ever know,” Draco replied, holding her hand.

The two walked around, marveling over the beautiful city. Tara even took Draco to the exact house where she was born in. Her parents house.

“If you would like, we could visit your parents at St. Mondello’s while we’re here…,” Draco said.

“Don’t be silly. I doubt you’d want to anyways,” Tara replied.

“I would, actually. I’m not that mean. I have respect for you and your parents. If you wanted to spend our whole honeymoon with them, I wouldn’t mind…,” Draco announced.

“Really?,” Tara asked.

“Yep…but there would be certain times you’d have to come back to me…I mean, this is our honeymoon after all…,” Draco smirked, wrapping his arms around his wife’s waist and burying his head into her neck.

“You’re silly,” Tara giggled, the feeling of Draco’s hot breath on her neck sending shivers up and down her spine.

“Yeah, I love you too.”

Draco and Tara had been away for only a few weeks, but it felt like forever to Lamark. It seemed they would never get Isabella off their hands. And Hermione wasn't feeling to well lately. She started to get up in the middle of the night, chest heaving. Sometimes, she had told him, she felt as if she couldn't breathe. Lamark was getting worried.

"Hermione, how have you been sleeping lately?" He asked her late one evening. Isabella had been put to bed, and Hermione was bedding down herself.

"Not too well." Hermione admitted to him. Lamark sat down on the bed, concerned. "It feels like I'm getting pain every night now."

Hermione climbed into bed and rolled over, as if to end the conversation. Lamark sighed and threw on the television.

An hour later, Hermione woke up, panting and almost crying.

"'Mione, what's wrong?" Lamark asked immediately, springing up.

"I'm getting more pain." Hermione grimiced.

"How long have you had those?" Lamark asked, getting her coat out of the closet.

"Oh...every ten minutes." Hermione moaned, and her face clenched as another ripple of pain went through her.

"THAT'S IT!" Lamark shouted. Inside, Isabella started to cry.

"You woke the baby!" Hermione started to say, then cried out. "Lamark...it hurts!"

"I'm getting the baby, then we're going to St. Mungo's." Lamark rushed out of the room. A few moments later he had the baby in tow, a Sleeping Charm on her.

"I also sent out an owl to Tara and Draco, maybe they can-"

"Hurry!" Hermione was awake and alarmed now, and she interrupted him because of the pain. Soon, the three of them Apparated to the hospital.

On the other continent, Draco and Tara were having a fine time. They had just left Southern Italy, and were headed for Sicily. The boat they were on was a luxury cruiser, and they were in their stateroom. Draco was trying to take a nap, but Tara was just too excited.

"You're really gonna love this island Draco." Tara squealed to him. "I'm most excited about this place! It's supposed to be like a whole other country!"

"I'm sure it is." Draco mumbled, and rolled over. "Tara, honey, wake me up when we get there."

"Sure baby." Tara left her boring husband and went up on deck, where there was shuffle board and people to watch. Tara settled down on one of the beach chairs.

She looked out onto the open sea, and saw....an owl? She looked twice, and saw it was on the arm of the sea captain.

"Excuse me miss. I believe this is for you." He handed it to her. She took it and smiled.

"Thank you." She untied the letter from it's leg.

Tara,

It's Lamark. This is an emergency. Hermione's having the baby now, and I'm afraid something might be wrong. I'm not sure, but she's been having pains for awhile, and I'm wondering if this is just natural. Please respond, and if your not too busy, please come back to England and be with us.

Chapter 8

Tara raced off the deck and into the room Draco slept in.

“Draco,” she said.

He didn’t stir.

She picked up a pillow and hit him in the head with it.

“Wha-”

“Draco get up. Hermione is going into labor early. And Lamark said it might be bad. We have to go back and get our stuff and apparate to St. Mungo’s,” Tara said.

Draco sat up rubbing his eyes.

“HURRY!,” Tara spat and she apparated back to the hotel.

She flicked her wand, making everything fly into her luggage. Since Draco was taking forever, she flicked her wand and his belongings flew into his luggage as well. She grabbed both of the bags and shrunk them, storing them in her back pocket of her jeans. She turned on her heel just as Draco apparated in. He saw her leave and followed suit after her.

Tara walked quickly down the hall of St. Mungo’s, Draco appearing right next to her. She went up to the front desk.

“Yes, I’m here to see a Hermione Donaldson. It’s urgent,” Tara said.

The nurse nodded and looked up Hermione’s name.

“Yes miss, she is in the intensive care unit. It doesn’t look so well,” the woman said, a slight frown on her face.

“Thank you,” Tara said, already headed in Hermione’s direction.

Draco nodded and followed after her.

Tara opened the door and went into Hermione’s room. Everything looked wrong. She walked over to Lamark and took Isabella from him saying, “What happened?”

“I don’t know,” Lamark said. “She just started having pains…I’m scared…”

Tara nodded, trying to hold back tears. Seeing Lamark this sad saddened her in return. And then she looked at Hermione which made the matter even worse. Tara held Isabella a little tighter, grateful that her baby was fine, but hoping that Hermione’s baby would too become better.

Tara paced back and forth in the waiting room. She took a sip of her coffee. Draco was asleep in a chair, Isabella cuddled up asleep in his arms. Tara was extremely worried for her best friend. She knew how badly Hermione had wanted a baby, and she wanted everything to go well so badly. Hermione had been there for Tara when she and Draco had hit rock bottom, and she was here for Hermione in her time of need, even if she wasn’t allowed in Hermione’s room. It was around three in the morning. Tara, Draco and Isabella were the only visitors in the hospital. Tara was the only awake one. She took another sip of her coffee and heard footsteps. She looked up to see Lamark stumble slightly into the waiting room.

“Hermione is fine, thank God. One of the doctors was able to stop the baby from coming,” he announced, sighing.

“Oh thank God,” Tara sighed. “Here take this…,”

Tara waved her wand and a cup of coffee appeared in Lamark’s hand.

“Thanks,” he muttered, taking a nice long drink of the hot liquid.

“I’m going to tell her goodbye and we’re going to go home. Draco needs proper sleep, and sleeping at home will probably be the best for Isabella…,” Tara said.

Lamark nodded and took another drink.

Tara walked out of the waiting room and down the hall. She peered through the window in Hermione’s door and then went in. Hermione was asleep, but she awoke when Tara entered.

“Hey,” Tara said softly. “How are you?”

“I’m better now, thanks,” she said.

“Draco and I we’re just on our way off. Sorry about what happened. But we’re back, and we have Isabella so don’t worry about a thing. Just try to get better. I’ll be back tomorrow, or later today, I should say, to see how you are,” Tara said.

Hermione nodded weakly.

“And thanks for watching Isabella,” Tara said.

Hermione took her hand, smiling. “What are friends for?”
